A ton of people say that, and I never get it. I don't think he's amazing, but I don't think he's terrible. All my friends that hate him are baseball people, and I think that's where the hate comes from. Just curious, what is so bad about him as far as football goes?

I don't mind it when he and Troy Aikman call the games. But then I'm super easy to please - I love listening to John Madden and Al Michaels on Sunday nights.

However, Kornholer is truly awful. Even I can't listen to that guy.

Michael and Madden are great if the game is close, if it a blowout they are awful, they lose interest in the game and start talking about something completely unrelated.

The problem with Buck and Aikman is that they focus only on the star players, and ignore everyone else.

I think my favorite play-by-play guy is Gus Johnson, he is great doing NFL and March Madness games.

I used to like Baldinger who used to talk more about the game but then he sadly went the way of talking more about external events.

Can't stand Gumbel on NFLN - not sure if it's the voice or what he's actually saying that annoys me most. But I was pleasantly surprised by Deion and Marshall as the other two guys in the booth. Deion came out with some genuinely interesting stuff about what the secondary was/should be doing.

To me, the most annoying part of any broadcast are the sideline reporters. And MNF has the record for the worst bunch since their inception.

Speaking of sideline reporters, does Pam Oliver sound like a scorned lover or what, lol?:D

PAM OLIVER STANDS BY McNABB COMMENTS

FOX reporter Pam Oliver has responded to the comments of Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb regarding his comments to her that were reported during Sunday's game between Philly and Dallas.

"I just feel like our relationship is definitely broken," Oliver told the News Journal of Wilmington, Delaware on Monday. "It's not easy to be called a big, fat liar. You wake up to that and it's unpleasant."

Here are her remarks from Sunday, which caused the whole conundrum: "Donovan really seems to believe that his days in Philadelphia are numbered. When I spoke with him before the game, I got the impression that Donovan is a little hurt by what he sees as an organization distancing itself from him and an organization that’s overly concerned about the negative fan reaction to him.

"But Donovan told me point blank: 'My knee is not an issue. The next place I go, I will win,' and also that he will keep a smile on his face for as long he's in an Eagles uniform."

Actually, Oliver said that McNabb's comments about the team were more pointed than she portrayed them to be, and that she toned them down in order to avoid getting him in hot water.

"My only professional regret is: Why on Earth did I bend over backwards to make it less impactful?," she said. "And then wake up to . . . to someone throwing you under bus like that.

"All I can tell you is I stand by it 100 percent," she said. "It's on-my-mother's-grave accurate. That's the bottom line."

I agree tho..Sideline reporters generally contribute no insightful information. Unless you're Suzy Kolber interviewing a drunk Joe Namath...

Pro Bowl teams came out today.

8 Patriots made the roster.. most since 1985. :D

Tom Brady
Randy Moss
Matt Light
Dan Koppen
Logan Mankins
Vince Wilfork
Mike Vrabel
Asante Samuel

Sean Taylor was voted in as a starter. I'd assume on the NFC's first defensive snap they'll only come out w/10 men on the field.

RIP #21

Lethal

certainly going to miss him... but I'm glad he got the starting position. He would have made it if he was still alive...

Tony told to "keep it in his pants"
LEAVE ROMO ALONE! Not only are many Dallas Cowboys fans filling online blogs with harsh criticisms of Jessica Simpson ''distracting'' her boyfriend, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, from his quest for a Super Bowl ring, I understand a number of official Cowboys types are speaking up, too.

According to a good Big D source, Romo has been told to put his romantic life on the back burner at this critical juncture near the end of the regular NFL season. I also understand that at least one team official has suggested to Simpson that it would ''be in Tony's best interest,'' if the couple cooled it for a few weeks.

Simpson, however, is laughing it all off, claiming she is just as anxious as other Cowboys fans to see her guy lead the team to the 50th Super Bowl championship.

Parcells to the Dolphins as VP of Operations. That's one I didn't see coming, even though I think he has a home, there.

That's a major rebuilding project there. You're talking at least three years, with good drafting, before they're even competitive.Taylor's probably gone via FA and Thomas is just about done, not to mention other aging defenders...Parcells gets bored very easily..We'll see how long it lasts...

While it's been a while, his former ties to New England and New York will make this interesting. Should be good to steal some on and off the field talent.

See, I don't know crap about the NFC. I know that SF has been struggling for the last few years.. but why? Bad front office? Poor coaching choices? Bad drafting and FA?

To be honest, I'm not sure. I just wish they would hire Parcells since he has an amazing record of turning teams around and former great teams usually have the self-respect to do what it takes to make the changes necessary to get back on top. It is sad to watch SF languish at the bottom of the NFC west, practically at the bottom of the NFL, when they were such a great team in the 80s/early 90s.

Bad ownership and bad front office.

Goes back to the late 90s and Eddie De Bartolo having to give up the team after the gambling machine deal in Louisiana. The team didn't get sold; it got handed over to his sister and her hubby - John York. He's a chemist and knows nothing about football. He was also (until this past year) very cheap. There was one point where he charged the coaches for their Christmas card stamps.

Incredibly bad salary cap management meant that they had to wipe out the roster after most seasons. Terry Donahue managed to recreate the problem in the early 00s too. Mariucci's team over-achieved in 2002 season and made the playoffs winning a huge comeback game against the Giants in the wildcard round. Then got hammered by the Buccs in the next round. Donahue and Mooch were in a power struggle and Mooch got sacked after that Buccs game.

Donahue was an idiot - brought in Dennis Ericsson because he was relatively cheap even though he hadn't been an NFL head coach before. And he was useless - admittedly though since they also blew up the roster again - getting rid of TO and Garcia (too old to do the job - hmm... who's that leading the Buccs to the NFC South title in 07?) - he didn't have much to work with. His draft pics were also pretty dire.

Dobahue finally got pushed out 3 years ago and York with his son, Jed (another non-football brain), chose Mike Nolan to be coach/general manager. While Nolan sure knows how to wear a suit, his game management is appalling with some v odd decisions that have cost a few games. And although Norv Turner didn't leave at the best time, his coaching hires have been suspect along with his refusal to admit he might have made an error. Jim Hostler is not ready to be an offensive co-ordinator.

And so it goes on... the fans hired a plane to fly about the stadium in the third quarter with a 'Fire Nolan' sign attached. Oh yeah... the stadium? The new one was to be built in time for the 2003 Super Bowl. They still haven't finalised a site for it! To be honest, it reminds me a little of the bad old Bungles when Brown refused to hire football expertise or pay out for much.

Alex Smith.

Think that's a little harsh. It's not entirely his fault. He arrived onto a rotten team, he's had three different offensive co-ordinators and injuries that caused him to miss most of season 1 and season 3.

His current offensive co-ordinator can't call plays to save his life. On the few occasions at the start of the season when they finally let Smith play and run the offense, he drove down the field and scored a winning TD on each. It was the rest of the dink and dunk offense that didn't get much. He was injured in week 4 and didn't have much of a chance when he came back since his shoulder was still separated.

And have you seen the 49ers receivers? They've all pretty much got a case of the dropsies. Even in those early games, the number of balls that Jackson let fall is unbelievable. Even Vernon Davis is hardly Mr Reliable.

I'm not sure though whether he'll get another year to try to succeed or whether he's already viewed as a Joey Harrington and is doomed to be called a bust. He is still very young.

And now moving on from Alex Smith to a quarterback who's actually good:

Tom Brady was named the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year today. He is the first NFL player to win the award since Joe Montana in 1990.
