And that is that. Another draw at home to teams we should've beaten.

Keane or Ngog shoud've come on. Benitez leaves it quite late in the second half to make the changes at which point the game has settled and the people coming on do not have long enough to get going. Keane on at 65 would've really mixed it up.

Hull were always going to score against us. The second half Hull did retreat into their half a little and when they did we couldn't score.

4 draws at home.

The points are still ticking along but we just kick on and really push forward, we should be punishing Utds poor start yet we are allowing them to put that all behind and really get the bit between their teeth.

Villa go 4th
West Brom drop further behind.

Come on Tottenham.

Unbelievable - if we could have taken our chances it would have been a cricket score...

Can't carry on like this - need Keane to start playing and scoring, can't just keep hoping it'll all be okay when Torres comes back.

Looked like Hull had a chance. 'Pool really poured it on at the end.

Spurs about to play Devils...
(just sawxUKHCx said the same thing. my bad.)

COYS!

Yeovil 2 - 4 County.

And we're now above Leeds in the table. Not bad considering they're MASSIVE :D

All that's massive about Leeds these days is their ego, and the twuntishness of their chairman.

Anyway... a point at Anfield. We'll settle for that. We actually found a pub that had a *ahem* dodgy stream of the game, so we went there to watch it. The stream was terrible, it kept freezing and needing to be reset, so we didn't actually get to see any of the goals! :(

For the first, the image froze as Liverpool were heading towards our goal, and for the next minute or so we could just hear garbled commentary, followed by an almighty cheer from the crowd. We thought Liverpool had scored, until the picture returned and we could see the City players diving on top of one another. They then showed a replay of the goal - but a big 'You're disconnected or summat' dialogue box appeared in front of the goal at the crucial moment! In the end, we gave up and headed home at half-time to listen to the match on the radio.

It seemed to me that McShane's injury was a key turning point, as up until then Mendy had been causing havoc – when he had to slot into right-back to replace the stricken Maplins entertainer we seemed to lose some of our shape and attacking threat. Dare I say we may even have gone on to claim all three points we it not for that?

I agree 100%. By doing this, Benitiez is telling Keane (and N'gog for that matter) that he has no confidence in their ability to change a game. Keane needs to gain confidence, and riding the bench won't do that.

I still think we are good enough to challenge for the title, but it won't be a dominant campaign. If we go all the way it will be by the skin of our teeth. Unless, of course, a healthy Torres and revitalized Keane start scoring for fun.

This game one again demonstrated that Steven Gerrard is the heart and soul of Liverpool, and, without Torres, our critical offensive threat.

Come on Tottenham.

Seconded! The words "Tottenham", "Man United" and "0-0 draw" in the same sentence!? Indeed!

To be a Hull City manager and to be disappointed with getting a point at Anfield is maybe a sign of where we've come from.

If I told you at the beginning of last season that you'd say that now you'd think me mad. :D

Your experience with internet TV mirrors mine. I bought ITVn, a service that streamed Setanta for 15 bucks a month over my internet connection. Choppy as hell, and the company went out of businesses within 7 months of me signing up.

Wow, draws for each of the big four this weekend...when was the last time that happened?

The big four scored a grand total of 4 goals this weekend - 3 of those coming from current or former Liverpool players. ;)

Not sure about the last time all drew, but only three weeks ago the big four scored a total of 0 goals in the weekend, with Arsenal losing and draws for the others.

Accrington Stanley!

Indeed!:D

Bengals = Tigers = pure awesomeness. That's all you need to know about USAian Eggball.

Ah, here is where we cross swords, Jaffa. As an Ohioan, I must be either a Cleveland Browns fan, or a Cincinnati Bengals fan. Being a Clevelander, I think you know where I stand. Right now both Ohio teams are terrible, but fortunately the Bungles are worse. If the NFL worked on the English system, both teams would be heading for relegation, with the Bungles on track to "do a Derby". As far as I'm concerned, Hull City have the monopoly on Tigers awesomeness, and Bungles fans are The Scum, to use a football colloquialism. ;)

Yeah, it's almost a perfect storm of offensive funk for the top teams.

They do have nice helmets though – almost teh shirt™ like in fact. :p

I would be lying if I said that I was unhappy that the Keane buy hasn't paid off for Liverpool so far. I certainly don't wish him ill though.

It's as good a result as I could have hoped for. If Spurs keep this up, they can finish middle of the table after all.

I am convinced he will come good if Rafa gives him playing time. On the other hand, if Benitez is convinced he won't, he must buy another striker in January, and a good one at that.

I say he should start Keane every game until he starts scoring or a until a replacement arrives.

I totally agree. I recently heard Robbie Earl saying pretty much the same thing - strikers need confidence, and managers need to support them as long as they are in the first team. Benitez is, in my opinion, doing exactly the wrong thing with Keane. He's not going to fly off the bench and start scoring - he's just going to sink into a funk. He needs to be out there, pushing defenders, creating opportunities and finally getting some goals.

Benitez gave Keane 23 games in a very short period and got very little in return. Dropping a player that isn't scoring, creating chances, getting involved or doing much of anything productive is exactly the right thing. No player is bigger than the club, certainly not Keane. It's about what is best for the team, not Keane.

It wouldn't be so bad if we had a fit Torres, but Keane's inadequacies have shone like a beacon in the dark. Now that he's droped him for two games out of 25 all of a sudden its Rafa's fault. The only person who should be looking at themselves is keane himself. I didn't want him when we got him and I don't want him now.

Out of interest, if you were Benitez how would you handle the misfiring Irishman? Give him another chance to prove himself perhaps? Keep him on the bench until Torres is fit to partner him, or until next month when you can bring in another striker for him to play alongside?

Or do you cut your losses, get rid in January and try to recoup as much of the £20 million he cost as possible?
