I don't see how two teams in the one city can't agree to build a common stadia. Milan and Inter managed it.

This is coming from me with three 50,000+ stadia in the one city - it's ridiculous.

With Evertons plan it will only be one team in the city :p

Different times. The San Siro has a long history with both teams playing there, and although one moved in after it was home to the other I feel that the times (just after the war) and level of exposure to the world stage are totally different in this instance. The two clubs (Liv, Ev) now have firm rooted fans and cultural backgrounds in the modern era both nationally and internationally. I think it would be a cold day in hell when both teams (and more importantly) the fans agree to such a plan.

There are many many benefits to having a shared stadium such as lots of savings, better public transport links and traffic management systems etc that would benefit the area.

Hehe. Lets stop before we destroy this fine thread. :D

I think that would be advisable. :)

Just out of interest, how far away do you all live from your nominated teams?

Google Maps says it's 9.6 miles but I can cut the journey to The Molineux, home of Wolverhampton Wanderers down to about 8.5 miles using a few short cuts.

It's only 7.5 miles from my home to West Bromwich, home of our sworn enemies The Baggies but I would rather go the extra mile. :)

I suppose there would be support from one side of the fans, seeing as they would no longer be in Liverpool. The people's club not actually near the people :p

What to do with the trophy rooms, if they were the same size Evertons side would be quite vacant. But then if they were smaller it would be just as obvious. :p

I thought I could smell something. :D

Quick... sshh... hi BlueVelvet.

Oh it was Mitthrawnuruodo. :eek:
:D

Feels left out :eek::D

Hmm yeah and why not take it one step further - Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham and Fulham can all share a ground!

Our closest, unsurprisingly, is Hull City's majestic KC Stadium at a sensible 3.91 miles. The next closest is Grimsby Town at a boot leather humbling 19.76 miles.

If I decided to turn my back on the mighty Tigers and instead engage in a spot of glory hunting (maybe if, say, I suffer a near fatal head injury and end up with my brain all scrambled), I have the following options with the 'big four'...

Manchester United = 83.58 miles
Liverpool = 110.77 miles
Arsenal = 155.17 miles
Chelsea = 160.29 miles.

If however I decided I like service stations and railways, I could always nail my colours to the mast of Plymouth Argyle who – at 286.10 miles – are the English league side furthest away from my home.

There's five minutes of my life I'll never get back. :eek:

Groundshare isn't going to work unless they have dual retractable pitches or something - single pitch would not survive the English winter with two clubs both with busy schedules (well one of them at least :p)
There are several clubs in England who have groundshares – albeit with rugby teams and not with other football clubs.

Rugby League is a summer game now of course and thee's only a bit of an overlap between their season and the football one, but Rugby Union is played through the winter, so it is workable for a ground to be shared.

Please note though that I'm not in any way condoning egg-chasing in any form.

It can be done but that does not make it a good idea. What do their pitches look like at the end of the football season?

Selhurst Park was groundshared for quite a while and that pitch always looked to be in a poor state. And that was two clubs who typically didn't have European matches too.

Columbus Crew Stadium, home of my "local" team, is 140 miles from my house.

Anfield is a bit farther at about 3588 miles...:D

Then again, 140 miles isn't that far by American standards. It's a small price to pay to see a real football match.

I'm interested to see whether Landon Donovan can hack it at Bayern Munich during his short-term loan. He's probably the best attacking player the US has, and has been for awhile. There are a couple other good attacking players in the MLS that are probably good enough to play in Europe (Kenny Cooper comes to mind), but only Donovan has looked like breaking into top-flight European football. Unfortunately, I think he's always had an attitude problem, preferring to be a big fish in the small pond that is the MLS rather than testing himself against some of the best in the world week in week out. Bayern can get him cheap, probably less than he's worth.

It's also good news for the LA Galaxy - between Donovan and Beckham their salary situation was so screwed up there was never a chance of them building a balanced team.

Champions League Draw:

Chelsea v Juventus
Villarreal v Panathinaikos
Sporting Lisbon v Bayern Munich
Atletico Madrid v Porto
Lyon v Barcelona
Real Madrid v Liverpool
Arsenal v Roma
Inter Milan v Manchester United

Some tasty matches there.
