Well crap. What a horrible Saturday night. I missed the game because I was at some hoity toity fondue restaurant with my wife and her friends, dropping three bills on a meal I could have prepared at home with twenty bucks worth of food from the grocery store. Not only that, but I later find out that my wife has been sleeping with my good friend's brother.

Okay, that last bit never happened, but after losing to Tech, especially in the manner in which we lost - it might as well have. :)

In all seriousness - congrats to Tech on a great game. As the cliche goes - defense wins championships, and our lack of a good defense finally bit us. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Oh well - I was thinking this was a five loss team going into this season, so I'm still pretty happy with how well the team has been playing.

Anyway, congrats Rodimus! :)

Alabama - at LSU, Mississippi State, Auburn + SEC Championship with Florida
LSU will be interesting, and the Iron Bowl could be for Tuberville's job, though not likely
The SEC Championship will be a great game

Texas Tech - Oklahoma State, at Oklahoma, Baylor + Big 12 Championship (if they make it)
I see one loss at least in the back to back Oklahoma games

Penn State - at Iowa, Indiana, Michigan State
Easiest path of all the contenders by far, no conference championship to boot

Texas - Baylor, at Kansas, Texas A&M, + (possible Big 12 Championship game)
The worst is over for Texas, but they need help now

Florida - at Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Citadel, at Florida State, + SEC Championship game
South Carolina will be interesting with Spurrier and so will Florida State
The SEC Championship will be tough

I'll throw in the "other 2" as well

USC - Cal, at Stanford, Notre Dame, at UCLA
No conference championship game
Easy road

Oklahoma - at Texas A&M, Texas Tech, at Oklahoma State, + (possible Big 12 Championship game)
Tough road with a lot of football left

If I had to guess right now (with a lot of football left), I'd say...
A one loss Florida humbling an undefeated Penn State in the BCSNC
Makes me sick to my stomach :(

The real nightmare for the BCS will be Alabama, Texas Tech and Penn State all finishing undefeated. Penn State will be out in that case. But the Big Ten won't complain too much, because if Penn State does play in the championship, it will, once again, expose how weak that conference is.

I can't see them all 3 making it
Texas Tech has Oklahoma and Oklahoma State

Penn State... probably, unless they stumble with Michigan State
Alabama... maybe, but Florida will give them all they want, and LSU/Auburn can bite them

I think it will be an undefeated Penn State v. a one loss team
The debate will be over that one loss team
Arguably, there will be several one loss teams more deserving than Penn State

I couldn't agree more. I have been saying this from day one when they moved up the polls. I was hoping for them to stay at the number two spot for just a wee bit longer. Take SOME of the pressure off. The Auburn game, if I remember correctly, we haven't won there or here in quite a few years.

The next few weeks will be very interesting!!!

Roll Tide Roll....

Nothing can be taken for granted... not even the Auburn game

Ask Oklahoma when they ran into a mediocre Ok State team twice at the end of the year

Ask West Virginia when they laid the golden egg against Pitt last year

Ask USC when they crapped out against UCLA

The list is endless

Good luck my friend!

Well, we have one poll so far.

USA Today Poll
1. Alabama (40) 9-0 1,498
2. Penn State (14) 9-0 1,437
3. Texas Tech (6) 9-0 1,409
4. Oklahoma (1) 8-1 1,290
5. Florida 7-1 1,268
6. USC 7-1 1,232
7. Texas 8-1 1,227
8. Oklahoma State 8-1 1,066
9. Utah 9-0 1,018
10. Boise State 8-0 958
11. TCU 9-1 862
12. Ohio State 7-2 843
13. Missouri 7-2 794
14. Georgia 7-2 693
15. LSU 6-2 683

I don't think Texas should have fallen as far as it did. I also don't think it's right for them to drop 3 spots behind Oklahoma. Bizarre.

That's why it's always better to lose early.

Yes... losing late is a bitch... unless you are LSU :(

Look at Boise, Utah and TCU :p
Don't think that will last for long though

Hoping the Dawgs can crack the Top 10 again before the end of the year
11-2 with a Bowl win and a Top 10 finish would be good

Fingers crossed that Stafford will come back for his Senior year... Moreno too
If they do... next year promises to be brighter

3. Penn State (6) 9-0 1,525
4. Florida (1) 7-1 1,398
5. Texas 8-1 1,353

I can see it maybe looking like:

3. Penn State
4. Texas
5. Florida

I was close!

Too bad the AP doesn't really mean anything because this makes a lot more sense to me.

Come on big guy.. don't hold a grudge because we beat you this year... finally..... ;):D

Trust me I know what you mean....... trust me..... uggghhhhhhh I should be happy Bama is number one in most of the polls, but I have this nagging feeling it is a curse lol........

No, definitely not. As a Boise fan I want Utah to beat TCU and then for BYU to beat Utah. :) But in reality I'm worried about Boise in a BCS game this year.

I honestly feel our D can hang with any team in the country, but our offense is still off. We do seem to be getting a little better with every game, but we're definitely not there yet. And we've also lost our fastest receiver to an "indefinite suspension". No one knows what he did. Stupid.

Lastly, our penalties are out of hand! We had three... THREE!!... offside penalties on kickoffs!! Who does that??? Crazy. 11 penalties all tolled against New Mexico State. Good thing they're so bad or it could have hurt us.

Hoping the Dawgs can crack the Top 10 again before the end of the year

Definitely doable with their remaining schedule. Obviously some more folks will have to lose above you. At least one is a definite, either Utah or TCU.

Fingers crossed that Stafford will come back for his Senior year... Moreno too

I can't blame the guys for wanting to move on to the NFL if they can, but it's so frustrating when they do! Boise lost some key leadership on the O-line to the draft last year. But, like I said, I can't blame the guy being as he now has a $15 million contract with Denver. Heh.

Interesting differences...

Absolutely. It's so hard to see USC up in the mix with all these teams when they haven't played anyone since Ohio State. I'm not saying they're not good, but they haven't been challenged.

I'm rooting for you guys... and I want you to kick some Gator tail in the SEC Championship game, but it is going to be tough for you.

i love how ou falls 2 spots when they manhandled nebraska and have DOMINATED for the second straight week

and no im not a sooners fan

Gotta make room for Texas Tech beating #1 Texas
Something the Sooners couldn't do

And they have to step aside for those darn Gators :(
After all... they have Tebow

I think it's too early to leapfrog State Pen (but when one of the other teams plays and win their division championship the jump would be justified... plus that will give their conference a cause and effect wake-up call).

I think it makes sense. OU played an unranked Nebraska team, whereas Texas Tech and Florida passed them up by taking care of business against top ten teams.

Don't see it happening my friend
Jo Pa is gonna get too much love in the human polls

Just look how it was manipulated last year with LSU
