Oh c'mon MacDawg!! You are forgetting about all of those tough conference games in the Lack-10

UCLA (not even a good team) over Tennessee

USC dominating people for six years (SEC, Big 12, Big 10 big wins included)

Oregon/Cal/Arizona State being ranked number 2 (or something) in the nation last year before suffering horrendous injuries

Don't look Ramblin, your jealousy is showing.

Kudo's to Miami, they played a great game, but the Gators won in the end, ( the coaching staff at Florida finally figured out THEY could affect a pressure defense).

Florida still has a lot of questions, but they disappointed the haters this week!:D

Miami is young and coming... Randy Shannon's recruiting is paying off and the young players are producing. They could be a force in the extremely weak ACC this year.

I thought the call in the 3rd quarter (yeah, THAT one) was terrible and changed the game. To his credit, Shannon didn't let it affect him on the field or after the game... but yeah, that was a big one. Even if you want to call the elbow "in" (which he was in AND out at the same time), he never controlled the ball... ever.

Tebow and the O Line look vulnerable and it will be interesting to see how they adjust in the weeks ahead.

Sep. 27th isn't that far off... ;)

The Tide didn't look as dominating (20-6 over Tulane) as they did against Clemson. Maybe the Tigers ARE that bad and Alabama is just good, not great. That's what's great about College ball... every week is an adventure and a new game, and it is so hard to keep focus and play at the highest level every week. I don't think my Dawgs can run the table with the schedule they have at all, and I see plenty of bumps and bruises along the way. At least we get the Tide "between the hedges" this year.

UCLA over Tennessee (not even a good team) [fixed that for ya!]
The past 6 years? I don't think Bush, Leinhart, et. al. are playing now
Last year's #2s? Oh, I thought we were talking about THIS year ;)
Everybody got a turn at #2 last year didn't they? Even South Florida

I know you don't want to compare schedules with the Dawgs...

Good news for USC though... Ohio State appears to suck!
That won't help you much in the polls though, apparently playing well against lesser teams still hurts you! ;)
If the Dawgs get penalized for scheduling a lesser opponent in week 1...
...then shouldn't USC get penalized for not scheduling anybody in week 2?

Big Stories from Week 2

East Carolina is for real
The Pirates have knocked of Virginia Tech and West Virginia to start the season
While VT was rebuilding, WV was supposed to be challenging for the BCS again
Maybe EC is the BCS buster and not BYU or Utah this year
East Carolina 24
West Virginia 3

Ohio State struggled and rallied to win
Ohio State couldn't put away Ohio
The Buckeyes trailed 14-12 in the 4th quarter and needed late scores to win
Ohio State 26
Ohio 14

Notre Dame struggled in their opener
The Irish needed 14 points in the 4th quarter to clip San Diego State
Looks like another long year for the Irish ahead
Notre Dame 21
San Diego State 13

Michigan continues to struggle but gets a win
Rich Rod's group looks BAD after 2 weeks
Michigan 16
Miami (OH) 6

Dawg Update

UGA rolled 56-17 over Central Michigan

Stafford 18/28 213 yds and 2 TDs
Moreno 168 yds on 18 carries and 3 TDs

Both had limited playing time in 2nd half

Moreno executed one of the more amazing plays you will ever see
A leap over an oncoming defender for an extra 5 yds on a 29 yd gain

I live in Buckeye Country, 15 miles from "The Shoe", I work 2 miles from "The Shoe". We will be No. 1 again. :) SO many posts just to get an avatar. :( Bennie will play in Southern Cal. Coach will have them ready.

Well, I'm out here with USC, UCLA and San Diego State. I don't really root for anyone as I didn't go to any of those schools... though I'd probably consider USC our pro-football team since the NFL left us high and dry. :p

I kinda like Cal but I have no idea why. I watched them a few times last year and just liked their vibe.

Defensively, Miami played a nice game. Offensively, it was fairly obvious that there is work to do there. I thought they would cover the spread but it was not to be.
Still a ways to go.

They will have to play a LOT better than they did Saturday against a woeful Ohio team. True, they did not have Beanie... but that doesn't excuse the effort they had. I have no doubt the Trojans will be ready, we will see if the Buckeyes are or not. They have a history of laying an egg in big games. [see the last 2 BCS Championship games]

Reggie did that Moreno play every week Dawg...

And don't bash our out of conference schedule, I'm sure that Georgia Southern and Central Michigan really match up well against our out of conference schedule.

UCLA (one of the worst teams in the PAC 10) over SEC number 18 Tennessee...

New polls out... and USC / UGA are the clear #1 and #2
Ohio State plummets to #5 behind Oklahoma and Florida in both polls

Reggie did that Moreno play every week Dawg...

Yeah, right... Reggie was good, and I won't diminish his unique talents
Moreno is an every down back that carries the load.
He is more than just a SportsCenter highlight.

UCLA (one of the worst teams in the PAC 10) over SEC number 18 Tennessee...

I think you will find UCLA much improved... and Tennessee will certainly rebound to the Top 25
This was their first game with a new Offensive coach and QB
Don't overlook UCLA, they kicked your a** and kept you out of the NC 2 years ago. ;)

Out of conference schedule?
If you didn't schedule Ohio State out of conference your schedule would be even more pathetic
You wouldn't have a single Top 10 team
The Dawgs have 3 IN conference Top 10 teams

USC out of conference:
Ohio State #5
Virginia (pathetic)
Notre Dame (pathetic)

UGA out of conference
Arizona State #15
Georgia Tech (2-0, win over BC this week)
Central Michigan (cupcake)
Georgia Southern (cupcake)

Schedules? You tell me who has the tougher schedule?

USC has the CURRENT #5, #15, #16 and #23 (all at HOME)
That's 1 Top 10 and 1 other Top 15

At Virginia
#5 Ohio State
Oregon State
#16 Oregon
#15 Arizona State
At Washington State
At Arizona
Washington
#23 California
At Stanford
Notre Dame
At UCLA

The Dawgs have the CURRENT #4, #7, #9, #11 and #15 (all but 1 on the ROAD)
That's 3 Top 10 (on the road) and 2 more in the Top 15 (1 of them on the road)
Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia Tech will all 3 crack the Top 25 again this year

Georgia Southern
Central Michigan
At South Carolina
At #15 Arizona State
#11 Alabama
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
At #7 LSU
At #4 Florida
At Kentucky
At #9 Auburn
Georgia Tech

Alabama wasn't very good against Tulane...

Thankfully, we pulled out the win. Hope we make improvement this week, especially on offense.

You get a chance to get healthy against Western Kentucky
and even a woeful Bobby Petrino Arkansas team
before you have to go between the hedges

Should be a great game
Hopefully it will be a battle of unbeatens

The Dawgs will have to go on the road to South Carolina and Arizona State first

UCLA (not even a good team) over Tennessee

I'd hardly brag about beating Tennessee. Yeah they were #2 in the SEC last year, but this year, they are a #9-#10 in the conference.

USC dominating people for six years (SEC, Big 12, Big 10 big wins included)

Yeah, this is true. USC has been dominant against many out of conference opponents. Sure they have beaten some SEC teams. But I would hardly call the Arkansas team they beat a few years ago the best the SEC had to offer. Like MacDawg, I'd love to see them take on UGA this year.

Don't look Ramblin, your jealousy is showing.

Hahaha.....I hope that was intended to catch a laugh..

I'm just arguing that the drop off between the top tier teams in the Pac-10 compared to the bottom tier is HUGE. Look at Cal beating Wash St. 66-3 yesterday. Yeah there is a few solid teams in there, but there are some awful teams as well. I just don't think that USC ever has to be worried about getting knocked off by Washington, Washington State or Oregon State.

...where as on the other hand, every week in the SEC is a game to be worried about. UGA has the chance to be knocked off every single weekend.

...and I'm a fan of the currently awful ACC. All of this defending the SEC is making me sick.

But on the brighter side... the Jackets are 2-0 and knocked off Boston College on the road, a game many expected them to lose up there. The Jackets have a shot at the ACC with Clemson playing poorly, VT being vulnerable... and even Wake Forest struggled with Ole Miss. Miami will be better than many expected, but I am watching your Jackets cautiously. Paul Johnson has won everywhere he has been. GT will win some games this year and surprise some people. And THAT pains ME to say :)

I'm not going to miss the chance to brag on my Yellow Jackets.

Paul Johnson can flat out coach. He turned things around down at Southern and it looks like he is doing the same now at Tech. It's already evident the triple option can work in the ACC. With time they will stop coughing the ball up three times a game and then they will be much more efficient. All in all, I'm very impressed. Hopefully they will survive the road trip up to Blacksburg.

...and MacDawg, I think this would be the perfect year to break that seven game losing skid, don't you? :D You guys would never hear the end of it.

BTW, how impressed has everyone been with East Carolina? They pulled out two huge wins and deserve their #14 ranking. Pickney looks like a solid QB and the defense shut down Pat White.

Looks like they will be this year's BCS breaker (and the most solid non-BCS breaker so far)

Besides, you've got to love a team that takes all four of their non-conference games and schedules them against teams in BCS conferences. Sure that's taking a gamble, but they've proved they can handle it.

Well, you got ONE thing right there... we would never hear the end of it. I have learned to never say never... especially in a rivalry game. A lot can and will happen between now and that game, and fortunes may rise and fall several times for both teams. Who knows... Tech could be playing for the ACC Championship and the Dawgs could be shut out in the East again by that time. <shudders at the thought>

BTW, how impressed has everyone been with East Carolina?

Yes... very impressive... even thought VT is rebuilding with a young team. WV was supposed to be a powerhouse and they were just flat out whipped... EC was just too physical for them and beat them up. Beware though... Fresno State started the same way a few years ago and faded at the end. Teams have a tendency to start believing their own press.

Big news for the day:
Beanie Wells listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against USC

Wells has soreness after Wednesday's practice and is now listed as doubtful for the big game this weekend. I don't think that this would have any outcome on the game. OSU is going to get thrashed by a few TDs regardless of whether or not Wells plays. Another year of OSU getting embarrassed on a national stage, what's new?

...one thing Wells not playing will do though is give OSU fans a full year to complain about how they would've won the game is Wells played. I just hope they get punished in the polls after they lose this game.

The other thing it will do... if they run the table AFTER the USC game, they will try to compare themselves to other "one loss" teams by saying "we only lost because our best player was hurt... and he is well now".

Let's hope nobody is buying that story down the road.

I want Wells to play so that I can see Rey Maluga and Brian Cushing eat him alive. It will make his foot injury seem like nothing.

The way this game is going, add a 1 in front of that.

Seriously! Rutgers has fallen off the map. I love how the announcers keep referring to NC as the hundredth whatever ranked team from last year. Way to rub salt in the wound.

Anyone else enjoying Fowler's commentary this year? He is really being critical. Lovin' it.
