While I'm alwaysfor a non-BCS team taking down a BCS team, I had a feeling BYU would lose. Ever since the TCU game they haven't been the same team. I think they were definitely overrated, but they were still a good team in the first half of the season.

I think we'll see a couple BYU players jump ship for the NFL now. That's what a few Boise State players did after last year's disappointing ending. Of course Ryan Clady has a $15mil contract with Denver, so I guess I can't blame him too much. But we definitely could have used him on our O-line this year! ;)

In other news.. Congrats dukebound!! That was a great win over Fresno! I honestly didn't think you'd be able to pull off a win, but you proved you were the better team! I think Fresno is going to be looking for a new head coach now too. Pat Hill has grasped failure out of the jaws of victory enough times.

Go Broncos!

Like I said, it pained me to say it when I cheered for the Cougars, I couldn't do it in the end. And by the end of the game I was cheering on the Wildcats, and was happy overall with the result. But I do like to support teams from Utah's conference in games like this, and that's why I wouldn't have minded seeing BYU win.

That being said, it is fun to see their "quest for perfection" season end like this. That should shut up the BYU fans for a while!

And the Pac 10 still sucks this year. Winning the Vegas Bowl doesn't change that fact. I do hope that USC rolls Penn State though, I can't stand Penn State!

Go Utes!!!!

Man, that BYU v Arizona game was ugly as sin. To all the Pac 10 supporters that thought this was a great win, it wasn't. Both teams looked terrible out there. I'm not saying I think BYU should have won, but I don't know how anyone could be proud of that game.

It was a great win. The mediocre (in the Pac-10) Wildcats dismantled the mighty Cougars and a pretty decisive victory, despite the referees I might add. Of course the teams are going to be sloppy, they've had three weeks off and you're going to see that with a lot of teams once the bowls start ramping up.

Yes the referees were sloppy (don't forget about that fumble by Arizona that BYU took in for a touchdown at the start of the game; the referees didn't allow it, but the replays really said otherwise), but to say that was a great win is ridiculous. How many fumbles do you need to admit it was terrible? I'm not even defending BYU here because they played horribly as well. To me this game didn't portray a victor, but just showed who didn't suck as bad as the other.

ACC officiating crew. Enough said. My team has suffered through awful calls this entire year. I just hope this is something the conference will look into in the offseason.

Mighty Cougars? Since when have the Cougars been Mighty? They haven't had an undefeated season since 1984, and their bowl record is something like 9 wins and 17 losses. I'm sorry but BYU started out strong this year somehow, but we all (with the exception of Cougar fans) that they were not going to live up to expectations this year, I expected 5 regular season losses and I was nearly right (they all but lost to Colorado State and New Mexico and Washington State). Like I said before the game, BYU was going to have a struggle in this one, and I was right.

Just watch TCU against Boise State on Tuesday, that's the team that realistically should have been in the LV bowl this year, but since the MWC champs are in the BCS, the bowl selections went out the window and the LV Bowl took the team that travels the best. If TCU had been Arizona's opponent, the Wildcats would have been lucky to make it to 10 points.

And a question for you Badandy: Who in the Pac 10 isn't mediocre this year? Because they've all had ugly losses and I haven't really seen any of the teams making headlines since Oregon State took out USC.

Who in the Pac 10 isn't mediocre this year?

USC is not mediocre. If you think they are you know nothing about college football.
Oregon State is not mediocre. With Quiz Rogers, they are a very good football team.

It is a down year though. The SEC has also had a down year, they're not very good at all. The Big 12 had a great year, they are the best conference of 08.

I wouldn't go quite that far...
2 one loss teams - Alabama and Florida
2 teams in the BCS - Alabama and Florida
1 team in the championship game - Florida

Georgia is a 9 win team and will probably win 10
Mississippi is an 8 win team and beat the Gators

LSU and South Carolina are both 7 win teams

8 teams are bowl eligible compared to 7 for the Big 12

Yes, they have had a down year compared to most years
Tennessee and Auburn were disappointments

But to say they are not very good at all is a stretch ;)

OU's Bradford selected as AP player of the year

NORMAN, Okla. --

The sophomore quarterback won another honor Monday when he was voted college football player of the year by The Associated Press. Bradford already captured the Davey O'Brien Award and Heisman Trophy.

On another note... how do you guys rate the recent coaching hires?

ESPN said:
The vacant jobs that have been filled in automatic BCS qualifier leagues to date are Tennessee, Auburn, Mississippi State, Clemson, Washington, Kansas State and Syracuse.

The seven (white) men hired for those prestigious jobs had a combined head-coaching record in 2008 of 7-15.

Seriously. Is that not the funniest thing you've heard in weeks?

If you're scoring (or laughing or crying) at home, that's 2-10 for Gene Chizik at Iowa State, 4-2 for interim Clemson coach Dabo Swinney and 1-3 with the Oakland Raiders for Lane Kiffin. That's whoopie-cushion material right there.
None of the others sat in the big chair this fall.

Steve Sarkisian to Washington C
Gene Chizik to Auburn F
Dan Mullen to Mississippi State B-
Lane Kiffin to Tennessee C-
Dabo Swinney to Clemson C
Bill Snyder to Kansas State D-

Give 'em a grade!

One particular way I've been spoiled as a Gator fan: I've never once watched them lose two years in a row to the 'Dawgs.

You're lucky. When I was at Florida it was during the dark "Po' Mouth Dooley" years, ( spits on floor). The Gator rallying cry was "Wait 'til next year!" I was sitting in the stands in Jax the day Herschel Walker ran up one side of the Gators and down the other. But is was always a friendly rivalry, and by the 4th quarter of the Walker game the Georgia fans were pouring us drinks.

all about the conference support! if the conference does well in bowls, gives even more cred to Utah and the mwc

And no matter how hated the opponent, you never, ever, ever rooted for any SEC team to lose to any non-SEC opponent. Such behavior was considered socially unacceptable and indicated the lack of a proper upbringing. But I suppose times change....

You guys can have your bowls...my Richmond Spiders will savor their NCAA championship. :D

Great run there, I enjoyed watching them in the semi's and the final.

One of Herschel's best days as a Dawg

I still adhere to that for the most part... but I make an exception for the Gators

Ick. I wish there were a way for them both to lose.

I wouldn't be opposed to that if you can figure it out ;)
Just as long as the Gators lose

oregon state is terrible...

I don't know if they are terrible, but they aren't elite, that's for sure

Naah, it just took em a minute to get it going. I think it's going to be a much better game in the second half. They made BSU look soft in the second quarter.

No, actually, they are not. I never said they were elite, but they are good, especially with 'Quiz Rodgers in the line up. Did you see the numbers he put up?!

See you January 1st. Maybe you can actually represent a conference well for once.

no but i did witness us murder them 45-14. quiz is pretty good, but the rest of the team, not so much.

is usc proud of losing weak games every year? usc out of any team has the easiest to make it to the NC every year, yet they always lose a ****** game

Of course we're not proud of losing weak games. What we are proud about, however, is overcoming those losses (c'mon, Florida had one of those losses this year) and playing in seven straight BCS bowl games, several of those being national championships.

Seven. Straight.

(Oh yea, and our defense is pretty good, too)

your defense is pretty good, but it is a bit overrated currently. You have yet to be truly tested this year. Ohio State wasn't a test because beanie wells and pryor did not play. (pryor played a little but he was still a little highschool baby back then compared to what he is now).

USC should be in a BCS every year. They own the west, they can get almost any player they want which leaves the rest of the pac10 to pick up the leftovers. For them not to win the pac10 every year would be a crime and for them not to go undefeated in conference play every year is also something they should not be doing.
