So I slept a whole 3 hours last night.. not the best idea.

I went to sleep after the 9th. I couldn't stay up any longer.

I was happy to see the A's put up a good fight. My only real concern so far is, well, pushing across runners in scoring position.Yes, Im talking about loading up the bases twice in the first two innings with only 2 runs to show for it. Scoreing RISP been a concern the last year or two for the A's, and I hope that this game wasn't a sign of things to come.

I wonder how this game would have turned out if it were played in Oakland with the cool night air that kills potential home runs.

Oh well. 1 down, 161 to go.

Im curious to see how Torre can handle the Dodgers.

That's something all of us in Dodgerland would like to know. If the spring is any indication, not well. I don't put much stock in spring training games, but the Dodgers have been terrible in March. It's not for lack of talent. The pitching, which should be a team strength, has been especially wobbly.

You can't put much stock into spring training games. The Rays are in first place.

I wouldn't knock the Rays my friend. While they aren't going to win the division, they are going to surprise a lot of people. They won't finish in the cellar this season and they might just crack .500

I know they are predicted to win 80 something games. In a weaker division they might be contenders.

The Rays are going to be good in 3 years or so. They're one of the youngest teams in the league and they also have the top ranked farm system. They're definitely a team on the rise over the next couple of years.

That is if they spend the money on them and not trade away the prospects.

Thankfully for them players are under the salary control for the first 3 years in MLB, so it won't cost them big money until the prospects go over 3 years of MLB service (this is when they get arbitration for 3 years).

Ramirez hit his second two-run double in the 10th inning — admiring his drive from the batter's box, thinking it was a three-run homer — and Red Sox beat the Oakland Athletics 6-5 in Tuesday night.

I generally don't, unless the results are really good or really bad. In the case of the Dodgers, the results this spring qualify as really bad. A team with this much talent should be able to win more than a third of their exhibition games without breaking a sweat. They've been giving up a scary amount of late-inning runs, even though the bullpen is about as deep as any manager could possibly want. It's difficult to know what's going on.

Im sure a lot of it is a learning curve between player and manager. We will see what Torre is made of, is he a good manager or just good because of the players he had in NY.

We hope. He's got the players in LA. It's not like he's managing the Royals or the Nationals, both teams which beat the Dodgers this week.

Funny thing is if it was A-Rod who did it, he would labled as stuck-up and full of himself.

Manny does it, we all laugh and say 'its cute he just watches the ball.'

I don't laugh.

I think he's an arse. I still remember the mudhole he made in Cleveland's left field. And never wore his glove. And sucked come playoff time.

Green Monster was made for him.

They could have more of an impact than people expect. For example, if they end up around .500, they may peel enough wins off the other AL East teams to keep one of them from getting the wild card. If the Red Sox and Yankees can only make the playoffs by winning the division, then it could be a real race for a change!

On the other hand, I don't think there's much reason to expect the Orioles to get any better, so maybe the O's and Rays will just switch places.

Yeah, we loved him for it when he played for Cleve. too.

I really like it when he stands there and admires his handiwork and gets thrown out at second when its not gone and he could have had a triple....

bonds was as guilty of the 330 ft single a time or two ....

JD Drew scratched with lower back tightness

what a wuss. no wonder he's called dl drew or nancy drew. he's always hurt, never plays hurt, like the anti-andruw of sorts. i know he's a good guy off the field, but his lack of heart on the field makes me think otherwise.

at least we only had him for his best one year, and he went on getting hurt for other teams.

So QVC is selling a lot of Yankees swhag and to see that stadium in all its glory kinda brought a tear to my eye knowing it won't be there in a year.

Bleh, ****** game. Lester couldn't get his control sorted until the 4th inning. Rich Harden pitched amazing. I went back to sleep after the 3rd inning after Lester gave up that huge home run by Emil Brown.

Manny hit #491.
