Lugo has been less than stellar. Quite the disappointment. Renteria is not someone I'd like to have back, however. I'd love to get H. Ramirez back, or even O. Cabrera.

zito is 0-7 now with a 6.95 era. yuck. i think he's going to lose 20 games.

and bringing up zito, only huddy of the big three in oakland is actually making much of his post a's days. mulder is hurt and zito is...well, you know.
I get the feeling that Billy Beane knows what he's doing. :p

The big surprise in this division is San Diego -- they seem to be developing a death-grip on the cellar.

i dunno, i mean the rox are sucking it up.....

once a braves fan always a braves fan....you know its bad when you live in co (grew up in atl) and was secretly wishing for andruw jones to hit a grandslam while playing the rox haha.

to be fair, the rox are my second fav team i guess lol

I want to stab Julio Lugo in the neck.

How the **** can he have 10 errors already?!
"Hello, Tigers? Can we have Renterria back?"

It's come to the point where Jed Lowrie's subpar defense would be better than Lugo's. Plus, Lowrie has a much better bat. Lugo needs to be DFA'd or traded. There's not much you can do besides eat that contract.

Cabrera is sucking it up this year. Besides, if we still had him, we wouldn't have Jacoby Ellsbury.

renteria had 40 errors in boston the one year you had him. i would start seeing if there's some boston shortstop curse or something.

He had 30 errors in 2005.

Lugo is on pace for 45 errors, and he can't hit for ****.

We had one of the best defensive SS the team ever had in Alex Gonzalez and they let him go a couple years ago. I'd take him back in a heartbeat for his defense alone....Even injured he's better than Lugo..

Webb is off to a nice start. :p

And Doug Davis will likely have a Saturday rehab appearance, his CT scan show him cancer free, after the radiation treatments.

With Webb leading the way and Randy Johnson on the roster as the number 5 pitcher as soon as DD gets back ... :D

Asdrubal Cabrera of the Indians pulled off the 14th unassisted triple play in major league history tonight. It is only the fourth by a second baseman.

AP story

Yeah, trust me...from a white sox fan's view, I feel cheated. Kenny Williams went out and got Nick Swisher from the A's and OCab, and I thought they'd both bring something good to the table. Supposedly OCAB is supposed to be a gold glover? He looks average to me!

how about the marlins and rays!

it's taken weeks for anyone to pay attention to the marlins and rays in the national media. i thought it was going to be horrible baseball here in florida all year long. the marlins and rays have proven me wrong with the two best records in baseball right now and just flat out great baseball. they both lost tonight, but i am impressed in watching both of these big winners so far.

i think it's because of the hgh effect, most of the older teams with money are sagging because their roid users are coming off the drugs, and the younger teams (marlins, rays, d'backs, twins, angels) were less effected than say the yankees because most of the young players didn't have the money to get roids and were less likely to be roiding than the older guys with money.

i think the marlins are a fluke and will fall back to earth soon and the rays are for real and will challenge the yankees and red sox for the al east and may make the playoffs. i would love to see a marlins vs. rays world series though.;)

I'm happy for the Rays. They've got a lot of great young talent which is always fun to watch.

I saw the headline on ESPN earlier that said "Steinbrenner tells Yankees to play more like the Rays" and I thought it was ****ing hilarious.

I think the Rays will end up finishing 2nd to the Sox in the AL East this year. They might even be able to grab the wild card, depending on what happens in the AL Central.

Also, the drawings for their new ballpark look ****ing sweet. If that ends up being built, I definitely will want to go there to watch a game.

i've been watching the rays on a regular basis since getting here in 2004 and everyone thought i was crazy for watching rays games at the time (they are a sorry team, who wants to listen to those boring guys, etc), but i kept watching when i could (i'm not a fan, but they could be my new al team depending on how the rangers go bad). rays games have always been interesting for some odd reason, i had an attraction to them. maybe it's finally paying off with all this winning. also, the rays have been beating the yankees for years, this isn't anything new. i'll reserve my thoughts on the east race until june, but i think it's going to be the sox vs. rays (yankees fall down a bit).

i haven't paid attention to the new stadium plans, i think they get theirs before the marlins (who are in a state of eternal delay...again). and full disclosure, i haven't been to a rays game yet, but i want to go.

Can we at least wait till June before we start making off the wall predictions. The Rays have a nice team forming but they are still a ways off from the playoffs.

We are only 1/4 into the season, every division is tight. It is still anyones to win or lose. By the way who is in first.

Used to live a lot closer and have been to many a (Devil) Rays game. In fact, I was at the game when Wade Boggs hit not only his 2,998th and 2,999th but his 3,000th hit, a jack over the right field wall. That was one of my great sport moments seen live.

The games are always fun (even the one I showed up at an in the second inning and they were down about 6 runs to the Yankees) and I'm happy they are doing well this year. Very well, actually. Not to sound too much like a bandwagon-er, but I'm having a lot of fun following and cheering for them.

Oh, and as an open-air-preferred baseball fan, I have to link this one too:

As stoked as I am about Citi Field in Queens, this is going to be one hella sexy park in St Pete.

What are the chances of Brandon Webb going 9-0 in his first 9 games?

Off to a better start than his Cy Young winning year ...

Game is tonight.

not to be rude, but for someone who's team is in the cellar...

I know it's still early, but how do the Cubs look to everyone? I noticed they've one of the best records in the MLB, and finally some strong run support to compliment the pitching. I'm almost afraid to ask (we Chicagoans have been let down exactly 100 times before), but, do you think they've got a shot?
