I could point you to their record this time last year when they were worse off and made a run in July. To early to be calling anyones season over.

i wasn't saying that the season is over for anyone (expect maybe the padres, but that's another story). any team can get hot or get ice cold, and it can happen at any time. i was saying more to the effect of bashing the rays at this point when the yankees are in last. but you're right, it's a bit too early for rays vs. marlins ws predictions.

So did anyone see Manny's ridiculous catch+high-five+double play yesterday?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2wx9BL9C10

Deep fly ball to left by Millar, Manny catches it in a full sprint, jumps up and climbs the wall, high-fives a Red Sox fan, then throws the ball back to get the double play at 1st base. epic ****.

As much as I despise Manny because he's a tool, that was pretty awesome. Was it necessary, no, but still pretty awesome.

That's as well as I could say it.

As for the cellar... I'm not Yankees fan, quite the opposite, but calling them out as being in the cellar is more than a little premature. Not only is it very early in the season but even with a Rays win and a Yankees loss last night they are still only 4.5 games back, by far the least difference between first and last in any division.

Willy Harris' diving catch against the Mets was much better then Manny's showboating.

I had a lovely evening out last night... scotch... cigars... I'm glad I came home after the game was over and missed that catch, as well as a complete and utter lack of offense to back Pelfrey's no hitter through 6+.

EDIT: Just actually watched Harris' half dive, half slip-n-slide catch. That was amazing indeed... actually I am sorry I missed it.

I know it's still early, but how do the Cubs look to everyone? I noticed they've one of the best records in the MLB, and finally some strong run support to compliment the pitching. I'm almost afraid to ask (we Chicagoans have been let down exactly 100 times before), but, do you think they've got a shot?

IMHO, the cubbies look as a good as ever. I think their record is partially bloated due to quite a few games against the Pirates though. They have played some tough teams and won. I'm a die hard White Sox fan, so I won't FULLY give the cubbies credit, but I'm excited for our Redline Classic!

So they are showing blimp shots of the new stadium and the new place looks a lot bigger.

Colon to make debut Wednesday

The Red Sox have announced the starters for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, against the Kansas City Royals. Justin Masterson will be brought up on Tuesday, swapped with Chris Smith (who came up today). Then Masterson will return to the minors after the game, and Bartolo Colon will come up to the big league club and will pitch on Wednesday
Extra Bases

I'm pretty excited to see what he can do. He pitched great in Pawtucket.

On the mend from a strained right oblique muscle that put him on the DL on April 4, the 33-year-old Colon threw 64 pitches, 45 for strikes, in six innings.

Working fast, Colon showed excellent command from start to finish, as he worked both sides of the plate well and threw 15 first-strike pitches with his velocity topping out at 95 mph.
Redsox.com

His line for that game: 6.0IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 4K.

Stats for his 3 starts in AAA this year: 2-0, 0.64ERA, 14.0IP, 6H, 1R, 1BB, 11K

The big thing is that he's got his velocity back. That was one of his big problems in 06-07 (when he was injured). He hit 93mph on May 10th and 95mph May 15th.

I'm off to Yankee Stadium to see the Yanks and Mets play. The rain should stop by the time first pitch rolls around or a little after.

Randy Johnson finally had a good start today, wasn't very painful to watch him pitch at all today.

Had his slider for strikes, and a bit more improvement and Randy should be back enough to look like he has a good shot at 300 wins.

It was a beautiful weekend in New York, baby.

I especially loved Ollie going 7 2/3 with 3 hits and 2 runs (and 2 hit batters ) tonight.
