i wouldn't bet on it (but knowing us, we'll lose a bunch). you have to go through larry jones and his white hot bat, which is even hotter to take on mets.

Let's bet. Whichever team takes the series, wins. In the event of it going 2-2 total runs for the series will be the tiebreaker.

Also I have no idea what the stakes would be, given our medium. :p

Maybe you can talk the mods into a MLB08 Winner/Loser title. :p

Mets/Braves, I don't see how either of them could win.:p

I was only talking about this week's 4 game, Tuesday through Thursday series. I think the reward for whoever's team wins the World Series should be the honors of creating the MLB Season 2009 thread like Zioxide did this year.

The only problem I foresee is the mass amounts of Yankees fans here and deciding who would get to do it if they win... but that's looking less and less likely to be an issue. ;)

Keep hating, just when you think they are down and out the streak happens.

The streak of Hank going crazy, firing Cashman, moving Joba to the rotation and blowing out his arm, and taking a nose-dive towards a 100 loss season?

Joba will likely stay in the pen, Cashman is in his final year anyways so why fire him now. They have been down this road before and always pull through. Until I see them collapse in August and miss the playoffs I won't lose sleep over it. You of all people should know better than to write the Yankees off in May.

JON LESTER NO HITTER :D

18 months ago he was battling cancer.. then he won Game 4 of the World Series.. and now he's thrown a no hitter! :D

I really can't hate Lester as he's my cousins wife's cousin. I just wish he was on another team.:p

Christ that's a lot of pitches. He wasn't very efficient, but at least he has a 2-1 strike to ball ratio.

He's never been a really efficient pitcher, but he's definitely been improving. Started the season with 15BB and 10K, but since then he's had 34K and 16BB.

This is also the 4th (Nomo, Lowe, Buchholz, and now Lester) no hitter caught by Jason Varitek, which is tied for the major league record (and Tek caught Schilling's 1-hitter that got broken up in the 9th inning last summer).

That's evident :p

That's a nice improvement though.

And that's even more interesting stat. I loves me some stats.

Building upon the 4 no hitters caught by Tek, he's had 3 more broken up in the 9th (Schilling in 07, Wake in 01, and Pedro in 00).

Oh and what is everyones opinion on instant replay in the MLB?

There is a part of me that wants only replay for calls such as the couple that have happened in the last two days.

But then there is a part of me that doesnt want any replay.

Instant replay only for home runs or foul balls down the line. No ball/strike calls or catches.

So, I love our young players.

Back in September when Clay threw his no-no, Pedey made a ridiculous play to save it in the 8th inning.

Today in Lester's no hitter, Ellsbury made an amazing diving catch to keep the no-no alive.

Also, another unrelated stat: Lester's fastest pitch of the night was his 96 mph fastball to strike out Callaspo to end the game.
