Neither does Ted Williams, Or Griffey Jr. Jeter has 4 how many home runs does he have? All 4 are hall of famers.

The point was, Manny was being congradulated for hitting his 500th hr and that got turned into ARod having more HR's......when ARod hit his 500th, I don't remember anyone demeaning it. (And I know your not the one who put the 525 post)

Oh please. I wasn't demeaning Manny. It was friendly banter if anything.

If you think that was bad you would hate to see what happens in bars.:p

The last time I went to Yankee stadium they were playing the Red Sox. Needless to say, beer was thrown in one fans face and fist started to fly. I can't remember who started it but I am going to blame the Boston fan :D

After watching the Mets play tonight, I think that is the way people are expecting them to play. They played like an All Star team.

Now if only the cross town team would get its act together.

Ortiz to DL

BALTIMORE - David Ortiz is heading to the DL and will likely be out for at least a month.

The Sox DH had an MRI at Mass General earlier today and it was learned he had an extensor carpi ulnaris partially torn sheath of his left wrist which is basically what holds the tendon in place according to what Terry Francona told the media after the game.

The tendon itself is not torn.

Francona said that no surgery was needed.

Team sources also indicated Ortiz will be in a hard cast and immobilized for two weeks. It will take another 10 days to two weeks to likely begin swinging the bat and getting back into playing condition. The injury is not considered common.

Because it's Ortiz' top hand, it's considered an important injury.

Francona had no idea how he would replace Ortiz, but mentioned the possibility of Sean Casey playing more as well as a speedy outfield of Jacoby Ellsbury, Coco Crisp and J.D. Drew as well as Manny Ramirez DHing.

ugh...yunel hit it a bit too far...i wanted a one run win for once. but i'll settle for any type of win now.

smoltz blew it, but i wasn't too shocked, i had a bad feeling that he's hurt again. he's done after this year.

smoltz's season, and possibly career, done.

Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz will have season-ending shoulder surgery, but he hopes to return in 2009. The Braves called a news conference before Wednesday's game against the Florida Marlins to discuss Smoltz's ailing shoulder. Smoltz and general manager Frank Wren declined comment until the briefing, but the pitcher said on his radio show that he will miss the rest of the season.

:( we could be seeing the end of a great hall of famer. he says he may come back in 2009, and i hope so, i don't want his last memories of him being him blowing the save from monday vs. the fish and pitching in pain. it's too sad...

The problem is that old players don't know when to quit and then hurt themselves and ruin their legacy.

And had fun winning the series against the Giants too. Hopefully we're turning a corner.

i was/am a big fan of mike "the polish prince" krukow. i saw his last outing v braves back in '89. he got rocked and left early. never pitched again. he was hurt and tried to pitch through it. i'd love to see some guys play forever but knowing your limits sometimes is a very good thing.

What about the fight between Manny and Youk.
TV cameras showed Ramirez and Kevin Youkilis being separated after exchanging words in the dugout at the end of the fourth inning. Ramirez pointed at Youkilis before being escorted down the runway toward the clubhouse by trainer Paul Lessard and a few players.
After seeing the highlights they interviewed Coco and he just looks like a punk that needs to get punched.

lmao. He's the most mild-mannered dude. He was the one doing the punching.

What about the fight between Manny and Youk.

I don't think it's a big deal. I was reading about it earlier and one of the guys (maybe Pedey) compared it to two brothers fighting.. they'll get over it quick and be best friends again tomorrow.

After seeing the highlights they interviewed Coco and he just looks like a punk that needs to get punched.

This whole thing is the fault of the Tampa Bay manager Maddon. On Wednesday in the 6th (I think) inning Coco slid in to second and Jason Bartlett put his knee down in front of the bag to try to block the slide, and Coco hit it and sprained his thumb. He complained about it because he said "that's how guys get broken hands" or something. Later in the game (8th inning), he was stealing second and slid in hard as retaliation. Maddon thought it was dirty and screamed at Coco between innings.

So yesterday the Rays retaliated by throwing at Coco, and thats how the fight started.

All I know is that Coco is a crazy mother****er. He'll probably get like 10 games suspension.

8 Players Suspended After Sox-Rays Brawl

Major League Baseball handed out suspensions today for last night’s brawl between the Red Sox and Rays at Fenway Park, penalizing a total of eight players, three of them Red Sox.

Outfielder Coco Crisp got the longest, a 7-game suspension. Jon Lester got 5 games, and Sean Casey 3 games.

For Tampa Bay, James Shields got 6 games, Jonny Gomes 5 games, Edwin Jackson 5 games, Carl Crawford 4 games, and Akinori Iwamura 3 games

Barring an appeal, the suspensions will be staggered. The suspensions for Crisp, Shields, Gomes, and Lester are slated to begin tonight (again, barring appeals). Crawford’s would begin June 11, Jackson’s June 13, Casey’s June 14, and Iwamura’s June 17.

When told that he was suspended this afternoon, Crisp claimed he did not know he had been penalized.

"No clue what I'm going to do,” Crisp said when asked if he planned to appeal.

Asked if he was interested in hearing which Rays players were suspended, Crisp said "No, not really, doesn't matter to me."

Was Crisp surprised he was suspended?

"Everybody gets suspended when they charge the mound," he said.

Regarding Manny/Youks:

Neither Manny Ramirez nor Kevin Youkilis discussed what caused their dustup last night in the dugout, but both players said they were past it.

"It's good, it's over, a new day,'' Youkilis said as he walked past reporters.

Manny spent a couple of minutes talking to reporters.

"Everything's good,'' he said, later adding: "A misunderstanding. Even the best families have them.''

According to three sources, Manny had raised objections to Youkilis throwing equipment around in the dugout after flying deep to center in the fourth inning, and advised him to "cut that (expletive) out. Youkilis apparently didn't take kindly to the remark, said something, and Manny swiped at him.

Suspending Lester is ********. He didn't do everything.

Must be a proud moment for all of Boston's fans. Fight on the field and in the club house?

Coco Crisp is a loser.

At least it means the sox players care enough about the team to show emotion. Half the yankees team look like they are simply showing up to collect a paycheck.

A-Rod is making the most money and is producing. Giambi is hot at the moment. I think it evens out.
