The Toronto Blue Jays became the third team this week to fire their manager, relieving John Gibbons of his duties along with coaches Marty Pevey, Ernie Whitt and Gary Denbo, the team said Friday.

Former Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston, who led the team to back-to-back World Series champiopnships in 1992 -93, will take over as manager.

The Blue Jays were 35-59 and in last place in the American League East entering Friday's games.

Gibbons, who succeeded Carlos Tosca during the 2004 season, posted a 305-305 record in 610 games over five seasons as manager of the Blue Jays. His best record was 87-75 in 2005, good for second place in the AL East, but he was unable to guide the Jays into the postseason.

Gaston was manager of the Blue Jays from 1989-97 and led the team to four postseason appearances, starting with a pair of AL East titles in 1989 and 1991.

Joining Gaston's staff will be first base coach Dwayne Murphy, third base coach Nick Leyva and hitting coach Gene Tenace.

Dice-K looks like ****. Who's brilliant ****ing idea was it to bring him back after only 65 pitches in AAA?

HD looks fine for me.

and a thank you for ruining my fantasy baseball stats daisuke. should have kept the loser on the dl.

He'll be back to the DL after today's game :p

Not that the guy who replaced Dice was any better. Giving up a grand slam to Glaus of all people. He's an automatic out for most pitchers :D

Smith has been good. He hung one bad slider over the plate but other than that one missed pitch he's looked good. It's also his first MLB outing.

edit: Smith's line so far: 3.0IP, 1H, 1ER, 1HR, 0BB, 3K.. pretty ****ing good. Just one missed location cost him.

I was at the casino tonight and the game was on and all the Red Sox fans were bitching and moaning.:p Not that my Yankees did any better. But still.

And Coco Crisp blows the save for Papelbon by completely ****ing up a routine fly ball for out #3.

Now you know how us Yankee fans about Damon when his not seeing the ball led to the runs the Reds scored that inning...... :p

Yeah, but Damon is a terrible fielder.. You should expect that. Coco is a gold glove-caliber CF and is on the team ONLY because of his defense. If he can't even do that right, then he should just **** off. Ellsbury would have had that ball easily. Dumb **** Coco decides to take steps in before realizing the ball is actually going to be behind him.

Damon was a great fielder in Boston. He just has absolutely, positively the worst arm in baseball.

I just looked at the stats on all the teams. I can't believe there is a worse team then the Nationals. * looks at Seattle*.

That's all the talk around here. They are a pretty pathetic team. It will be interesting to see what comes of them this summer and the off season.

And one thing I need to ask, is who the hell names their child Coco Crisp? Isn't that a cereal?

His name was Covelli. Coco was his nickname, although he made it his real name a year or so ago.

edit: Just looked at the schedule, and we're gonna have a sick pitchers duel tomorrow night hopefully.

Haren (7-4, 3.26) v. Beckett (7-4, 3.87)
