I hope so.

Does Lugo have any trade value, or will it be a case of just releasing him?

Probably an offseason trade where the Sox eat like $10 mil of the remaining $18 mil and get a B-level prospect in return.

I don't see the Sox bringing him back from the DL until after 9/1, when the MLB active rosters expand to 40 men. There's no way they can send Lowrie back to the bucket now.

Also, Jacoby with a 3-run shot tonight that he crushed to dead-center. Hopefully that (and his other 2 hits tonight) are the beginning of him coming out of his 2 month slump. If he starts hitting again, combined with Lowrie at SS instead of Lugo, then there's only one automatic out in the lineup (Tek/Cash), instead of 3.

Although we all know how much Francona likes his veterans, so Lugo may be back in there when he's fit. However, there is no way he should be.

Yeah. They need to get rid of Alex Cora too. And bat Jason Bay cleanup. Now.

Yeah. Now that Ellsbury is heating up again. their lineup should be (IMO)

Ellsbury
Pedroia
Ortiz
Bay
Drew
Youklis
Lowell
Lowrie
Tek

Or, perhaps switch Tek and Lowrie.

As long as Ellsbury continues to hit for the next week or so, then I could see that lineup happening. Though I agree with switching Tek and Lowrie. And I'd probably put Youk in front of Drew as drew has been a bit cold lately and I think Youk could protect Bay better.

me too! last couple nights were very heart breaking but today was back to the norm.

Yeah, last couple nights were killers. I think one of the best parts about being a Twins fan is nobody nationally ever expects anything from them and here we are agin. Feels like 2006 all over again.

Twins must have one of the best minor league systems in the league. They always seem to have someone in the pipe. Ugly uniforms and stupid stadium aside they seem to be in the mix very often. :p

The farm system is great, it is amazing how they can call someone up and often there is little difference on the field. While the Metrodome is quite possibly the worst "park" in baseball the new park opens in 2010!

Worse than Tropicana Field? The one problem I see with the Twins new park is lack of roof.

Never been inside Tropicana field myself but from the pictures I have seen it is worse. Ae the Rays still hoping to get that new park on the water?

As for the roof it had been an interesting debate to watch locally. Most people would have liked to have one but it would have cost at least $100 million more. The county is already financing most of the cost (about 75% I think) and had no interest in another $100 million. The team claims that there should be only 6 games a year affected by weather. They are basing that on when the team played at Metropolitan Stadium into the early 80's, of course the season also did not start on March 31 back then. Personally I don't care, if you want to go to a game early in the season wear a jacket, heck the the Twins will be more than happy to sell you a logo jacket for $100 I am sure.

I'm not a fan of indoor baseball, but that in mind Tropicana is horrible.

At least not as horrible as the Mets' bullpen.

The farm system is great... for pitching. Can't get a solid hitter out of there to save our lives. I watch "Baseball Tonight" and see guys like Ryan Ludwick and Nate Mclouth and drool. Just wish we could get one more hitter. And yeah, the dome sucks, but it's MY dome. I've been watching games there my whole life. I've grown to like it.

as it should be... ;)

As a White Sox fan, I hate the metrodome. It's like our house of horrors. We can't win a game to save our lives there. I mostly blame in on the baggy wall.:mad::p

Being in the middle of no where for 2 weeks with no connection to the outside world really leaves left out. I cant believe all the stuff thats happened throughout baseball since I was gone.

Went to Futures at Fenway today... was a good time. Lowell beat Hudson Valley 4-3 on a walk-off single in the 12th inning, and then the PawSox beat Charlotte 5-2.

Ooh, and Jacoby is back! 3-4 today with a HR, his 2nd in 3 games.

How about that wacky Rays/Mariners game last night? I stayed up until the end (2:40 a.m.). My favorite part was when Maddon pulled the center fielder to have five infielders in the bottom of the 10th with the bases loaded. I've never seen anything like it.

With today's pummeling of the Mariners, the Rays are now 4.5 games up on the Red Sox. :D

Art Howe would do that from time to time when he managed the A's.

I was wondering how the Spinners game ended. I saw it was headed to the 12th, and the next time I checked NESN, it was the 1-1 in the 2nd of the PawSox game, 2 hours after the scheduled first pitch. :D

Mauer and Morneau?

that's true. Morneau is the man and Mauer is great. But Mauer was drafted in 2001 and Morneau in 1999. Since then... nothing but pitchers and speedy slap hitting outfielders. But they are doing way better than I though they would this year, so that shows what I know.
