CC and The Sheets have their free agent value rising weekly :p

very true... we all know they wont be in milwaukee next year but when gallardo comes back strong and parra turning into a very good pitcher we could have a pretty strong 1-2 again. there is a LOT of great young talent on this team and antanasio has proved he's not afraid of spending money to win. we wont keep up with the big fat cats in boston and the bronx but they have young passion and are fun to watch:p

You honestly don't think the Brewers will make a play for either one of them? Top of the rotation guys are hard to come by these days..

I think CC will just be way out of the crews price range. they simply just dont have the money for the a-rod like salary he will be able to demand, especially after he helps us win the world series this year:p

sheets on the other hand, the crew will try to keep but its unlikely he will stay

Maybe if people actually went to their games and their own fans seemed as if they cared.

they care, they talk about the team and everything. it takes time to build a fanbase (especially if they have sucked forever), they have a similar problem with the fish in that their fans are mostly transplants from other areas.

The reason why both Florida teams have a small fanbase is because Florida is a vacation state. That means most people in Florida are actually from other states where they are loyal to their state's team. Florida Marlins have actually been more successful than most teams lately, it's just that their stadium is horrible, and they are in Florida. Tampa Bay's team has been horrible, their stadium has been horrible, and they are in Florida.

i would add the fact that rain in florida comes and goes very quickly (5 minute showers are common) and it rains nearly everyday down here, which factors in for the marlins a little bit.

but i would add this, more people are living in florida full time than they did maybe 20-30 years ago, and the kids are going to be loyal to the local teams (unless their parents make them cheer for their old northern teams) and start the new tradition of going to the games. i would say san diego is another good example of this; for a while, it was mostly just a navy town full of people from other areas of the country. eventually, people became residents and grew on padres and chargers and now have a loyal fanbase. give it some time, 10-15 years is not that much of time when you think about it.

cool, so you just answered your own question;)

CC Sabathia robbed of no hitter!

PITTSBURGH -- The Brewers sent a DVD and a written explanation to Major League Baseball following the conclusion of Sunday's game between the Brewers and Pirates, Brewers media relations manager John Steinmiller said.
Milwaukee is upset over a play that was ruled a hit instead of error in the Brewers' 7-0 win over Pittsburgh. If the play was called an error, starter CC Sabathia would have recorded the second no-hitter in franchise history.

On the play, Sabathia was unable to cleanly field a dribbler by Pirates third baseman Andy LaRoche in the fifth inning.

Milwaukee's protest will be sent to Major League Baseball's senior vice president of club relations Phyllis Merhige and the Commissioner's Office to appeal the call. The information was to be sent immediately after the game.

"I saw it, called it immediately [and] believed it was a hit," the game's official scorer, Bob Webb, said. "I think that's a hit in every circumstance. It was a difficult play. Even if he comes up with the ball cleanly, in my estimation, he's got more than ordinary difficulty in getting the runner at first base."

Under MLB rules, the official scorer is the only person that may change a judgment call within 24 hours of a game's conclusion. The league, after considering the evidence submitted by the Brewers, may request that the official scorer change a judgment call, but cannot force the scorer to change his ruling.

Only if the call is deemed "erroneous" may the league order a change in a judgment call.

"He accomplished a no-hitter and wasn't given what he deserved," Brewers manager Ned Yost said.

Best world series:

Milwaukee Brewers VS. Minnesota Twins
.

hey bud, big win for the twinks today! with the crews win, cubbies losing their 2nd straight and the cards in the middle of a fold... our dream gets ever so closer;)

ah man, i hope my dbacks can pull off the division. two losses to l.a. with our two aces on the mound.... damn manny.

no rays talk at all here? i'm shocked...first place and no yap about the rays.:(

Riiiiiiight...And if the Rays started sucking all of a sudden, you'd jump on to another team..Honestly,how many pink hats do you own?

i'm not a pink hat fan...i've been watching the rays for 5 years on fsn florida, so it's not like i started liking them yesterday. i like to think of the rays as my al team. and besides, my team is awful and there's not much to talk about regarding my braves expect about how we just got swept by the nats and may lose 90 games for the first time in almost two decades.

Does anyone else think the Yankees team is only going to get worse since they are depending too much on old players? Giambi, Jeter, Abreu, Rivera, Mussina, etc. are all getting old and dropping out or have already dropped out of their prime and are health concerns. I say the Yankees just try to reinforce a rebuilding year for the rest of the year with the September callups and maybe unload their veterans for major league ready prospects, but of course the Yankee fans are too proud to not admit that.

my rays pics

http://mt14.quickshareit.com/gallery/view/99e152ba

here's my pics from the two rays games i went to over the weekend. this team i think is going to win the world series.

and to not be accused as a bandwagon fan, i will talk about how the braves lost their 29th straight one run game on the road to the fish. not much to say there, expect we don't know how to play fundamental baseball.

Meh, I saw the play, he didn't have much of a chance even if he hadn't dropped it.

you cant be serious:? you must not have seen the same play the myself and all of the sportcenter reporters saw? he would have easily thrown him out by ten feet. Even if you don't like the guy you can't deny it...

I started following the Rays because the Braves insist that I am not able to see ANY of their games; even the away games are blacked out!

Now that I've seen the video from the dugout area, he probably could have thrown him out if he hadn't given up after dropping the ball.

I have nothing against him. But he is on the team I'm fighting for 2nd place with in my fantasy league. Plus, I'd like to remain the only manager to have a no-hitter this year. :D

don't worry, you're not missing much with the braves...just a bad baseball team. btw, you in florida by chance?

btw, someone at the ajc suggests the braves will be awful for quite a while.

Nope, Greenville, SC; 150 miles from Atlanta. If the Rays make the World Series I'm gonna try to get a ticket. They have cheap flights out of here for $69 one way. :)

BTW, I did have tickets for the '95 Series, game 7. D'oh!

Hope you don't mind if I jump in here

But what amazes me about the Rays is that their whole team is payrolled on about twice as much as Manny was making. It's kind of scary how good they are doing. Of course scary for a Red Sox Fan. But considering how much the Yankees and the Sox get paid, I have to hand it to them. They are doing awesome. And it kills me to say that.

I was actually hoping I could make it to Tampa to visit my mom so I could actually see them play the Sox. You can't really afford to get tickets up here. But then if the Sox lose I would be one unhappy chick :mad::mad:

how did you get blacked out of all games out there? aren't they supposed to be on the local cable stations or something?

and i'll probably try to get one as well, although it's probably sky high for tickets.
