it's gonna be a long day for the crew. If anyone can take a very good team and turn them into a loser it's ned yost. God does he suck. ****** manager puts a catcher at first base to replace a slumping power hitter and they way he places the crappy bullpen is a joke. He's more concerned with a missed no hitter than a pennant race

Pedroia hit another home run today (after he hit one yesterday).

Now up to .333 (1st in AL), 191 hits (1st in AL), 110 runs (1st in AL), 17 HR, 76 RBI. He's had 56 multi-hit games, 22 3-hit games, and 7 4-hit games.

only 600 fans at today's marlins game. we lost 3-5 against the fish today, and i heard all kinds of bad words when bobby got tossed because nobody was there.

pedroia reminds me of marcus giles, another scrappy shorty from a few years back. he disappeared after the drug testing got beefed up though.

also, seattle and washington eliminated from the playoffs.

600 fans? six hundred? There are college classes at 8 in the morning that have more students show up. Is a team relocation in the future? If not it sounds like it definitely should be; we had 600 fans show up to our high school football games, and our team sucked. I just saw the video from that game; why are there fans sitting in the outfield? Surely seating wasn't enforced at that game, I would have been right behind home-plate with my $5 upper deck ticket.

In other news, the Red Sox have sold out 455 consecutive home games, way to go Sox!

Not that hard to do when Fenway holds 38,000. If the Marlins can't get more than 600 how are they going to get a new park.

None the less, it ties the record, a record which will probably continue to be broken for a while. Seeing as how New York is significantly larger and your team was significantly better for a fair amount of time than Boston, its kinda surprising that your stadium hasn't sold out for a much longer streak.

They could always get a smaller stadium, say, one that seats about 1000 all in bleachers down the lines and behind home, maybe with a grass "sit on your blanket" outfield pavilion, somewhat similar to where the little league world series is played.

I loved it when the Marlins won the series a few years back, great to see, but now they're just begging to be moved, hopefully Portland will be happy with a new team, or maybe the god-awful hot Las Vegas (video poker in the seatbacks would sure draw a few people to the games).

The Yankees have been drawing over 4 million the past few years. The new stadium will be 4000 seats smaller.

The Dodgers have been drawing 3.5 million or more for the last several years; this year they might hit 4.0 million. It was very close last season. Hard to imagine how big the crowds could be if they actually won something.

What is the seat capacity at Dodgers Stadium?

Yeah, but they're required to come. I wonder if the Marlins' owners have considered making the games mandatory? Show up or flunk out.

Seriously, they should probably just give the tickets away so it doesn't look so bad or they could pay homeless people to sit in the stands and make it looked filled in, they might get a decent crowd that way. Or maybe free beer night... every night.

What? The Dodgers are consistently one of the top draws in baseball. They sold very close to 4 million tickets last year, and that was a terrible season. They still draw way better than the Angels.

In a way, I wish the Dodgers weren't able to draw so well even when they lose. The message to ownership has to be that it doesn't matter to the fans.

I think he meant the marlins. it actually makes sense to give a way tickets free or heavily discounted when attendance is so low. at least you make peripheral sales (food, clothes etc.)

The Marlins had a chance to fill seats after both of their world series championships but they chose to rip apart the team and alienate the fan base. Why would they want to come back now knowing that the ownership doesn't care.

Doh!

I wonder how many season tickets the Marlins sell. They're even worse off than the old Expos. Sometimes so few people came to those games, you could hear the air conditioning system running.

rays lost on a walkoff grand slam in the 13th inning:mad:. after all the drama this afternoon, watching it alongside college football, i was so mad and disappointed that the rays lost again with percy blowing the save. i turned it to football as soon as he hit the grand slam.

i think the rays are in some trouble here, losing 4 out of 5, and could lose the division to the saux. unless they pull a mets like collapse though, i see them in the playoffs.

Yeah, definitely meant the Marlins. Dodger games are great, I love watching games in that stadium, always try to go to a few a year.

I've got a share of a season ticket, nine games. My last game is the final home game of the season, Sept. 25. If you'd have asked me a week ago, I would have said those tickets were going on ebay, but not now. Dodgers beat Arizona again today, and occupy first place alone for the first time since early April.

brew crew won but man their bats are slumping. good thing benny pitched so well. gallardo threw 50 pitches in practice and it would be great to have him in the bullpen for the playoffs if he is healthy enough.
