lol im more bummed about dropping 4 in a row

You should be proud of your team, dukebound! Sure you have lost 4 in a row, but those last three were the top three of the MWC. On top of that, you almost beat Utah and BYU (even though the scores might not reflect how close it was). CSU is on the up-and-up right now and I wouldn't be surprised to see them being a serious MWC contender in the next years.

I'm surprised that USC trojans drop back to number 7th after being 6th!!!!

and somebody almost brought those damm Florida Gators..........

but i guess not...........:D:D:D:D:D

The first BCS polls are out. Discuss.

That loss to Washington is just absolutely killing USC in the Computers. I'm really surprised they are #7.

I still think it will be Alabama and Texas in the Title Game. Texas' defense should be able to handle OK State, and the Big 12 North is still a joke.

I do believe #4 is the highest BCS regular season ranking for any non-BCS team. Go Broncos! :D

ESPN College Gameday will be broadcasting from Provo for the BYU vs TCU game this Saturday. I know a lot of you from the bigger schools don't care, but this is a big deal for us (The MWC). Go Froggies! Crush those Cougars!

I think it's gonna be a great game, and I'm looking forward to it!

And yeah, the BCS poll is lame, but I didn't expect any less. Playoff!

I agree it is lame.

I am trying to figure out how Texas Tech did not make the BCS poles and Washington (not one any of the other poles) get the 21st spot.

It could be a LOT worse (you haven't forgotten 1998 already, have you?).

As much as I want to, the 1990's are not forgotten. That was a craptastic decade with Gary Gibbs, Howard Schnellenberger, and John Blake. 11 years with Stoops has certainly spoiled a lot of fans. Sometimes it is nice to have a season like this to force a little perspective.

Pretty funny poll on ESPN.com's College Football page.

The question is "Will a team from a non-BCS league ever play for a BCS championship?"

Obviously the majority of the nation (and world) say "No", but I'm sure you'll all be surprised to see which two states reflect the opposite. ;)

Oh, and for all you Boise State Haters out there, go to the SportsNation Polls page and down on your left there's ample opportunity to Hate all over Boise State in five different polls.

Enjoy!

Oh, and GO COUGARS!!!

:D

Ever? Yes.

Soon? I don't think so. But eventually the proverbial dues will be paid. A handful of those teams (most notably Boise State) have been able to string together quite a few very successful seasons over the last ten or so, and that's the kind of success that gets people to notice. I don't think a season here and a season there is going to command the kind of respect it'll take to get to the BCS Championship game.

I said "yes" in the poll, btw. I just think we're still at least a few years away.

I couldn't agree with you more. As a die-hard Boise State fan I have to say, all this Boise State National Championship talk is complete nonsense. I want Boise State to play in a BCS Bowl game, and that's it. Boise State hasn't played the kind of schedule that is deserving of the National Title game. However, I do believe we can play with anyone in the country, and if by some terrible college football Armageddon Boise State landed in the BCS championship game we could win that game.

But all that aside, it's not going to happen this year so I honestly wish all the talk would just stop.

Now next year will be fun. We have a total of four seniors on our team this year, and of those four only two are starters. We are going to be dangerous next year. Our non-conference schedule will be better next year too. We host Oregon State September 25th, and then the following week on October 2nd we travel to D.C. and play Virginia Tech at FedEx field for a "neutral site" game. Heh. Yeah, real neutral.

I think we will be placed pretty high in the preseason voting next year, and if we get past those two games then I think we could be set up in the polls for a shot at the BCS championship game.

It's all pipe dreams right now of course, but just keep your eyes out for the Boys in Blue next year. :)

It's pretty ridiculous. We obviously have Matt Barkley back at full strength after losing to Washington with our now third-string-qb. That's really not indicative of how good our team is. I thought we played a good game at Notre Dame. TERRIBLE officiating and some missed opportunities to really put some distance between us and ND, but Barkley showed that he is going to be something really special.

I'll take this comment a step further and say that any talk of a National Championship, by any team, is complete nonsense. Without a playoff, the concept of a national champion is just a big joke anyway. The BCS has done nothing but make my experience as a Texas fan that much worse (and we've won one of their stupid titles!).

I know it's not gonna happen, but playoff, PLEASE.

Injuries happen to everyone

UF/OU included

I agree. USC should obviously be higher than 11th (where the Computers have them). The two human polls have them at 4th, and even though there's a LOT of bias in the human polls they still can't be that far off.

Back to the Computers though, I think Ohio State's loss to Purdue may have hurt USC just as much in their ranking as their loss to Washington.

It's Gameday!

I'm watching Michigan/Penn St., and am looking forward to the TCU game later. Texas plays Missouri late, which could be a trap game for us. Ugh.

Hook'em!

Just watched Iowa State beat Nebraska in Lincoln for the first time in 22 years, all due to 7 or 8 turnovers by Nebraska (many of them in the red zone). This game easily could have been a 40-9 NU win. What a comedy of errors.

Looking forward to the TCU-BYU game tonight. Should be a good one.

I don't think Texas will have a lot of problems with Mizzou. They don't have the offense to jump up and bite you. Next week should be a fun one though.

I hope you're right. I just wish our offense would finally get it together. You've certainly been right about Colt - he's been pretty average this season.

Good luck against BYU!

Wow. TCU is looking really really good. The way they are playing right now, I would say they could take on any team in the country. I will tell you one thing, I am down right frightened for the Utes to play these guys in a couple of games.

TCU looks great.

I'm glad my Horns appear to be having a good offensive effort tonight. Being in Pac-10 country means all I get to watch is USC. :(

How about this for proof that you can't use the transitive property in football? Three consecutive weeks:

Texas Tech beats Kansas State, 66-14
Kansas State beats Texas A&M, 62-14
Texas A&M beats Texas Tech, 52-30

Heh! :D

I'm actually not a big TCU fan. I'm a grad student there and I hope they do well, but I don't really follow them all that closely.

I didn't watch much of the Horns' game. I flipped back and forth a little but they took control of it so early I lost interest. Was is still mostly good special teams and defense or did the offense finally show up for a whole game?

This game was totally nuts. Can't believe the Ags not only pulled one out in Lubbock but totally laid the wood to the Raiders. What a difference a week makes.
