It seems that the only punishable offence is smacking Craig Fagan, which is rather ironic given that most people think smacking him is an acceptable part of the game. :p

Then we should make Craig Fagan president of the FA...nobody would mess with that organization then. :D

JT no longer England captain,appara.
I'd come here to report the same thing – no official word as of yet but the lass on the radio has said those are the noises coming out of the FA. Apparently England's Brave John Terry had a mere twelve minute meeting with Capello, so it looks as if the Italian's mind was already made up on the matter.

EDIT: Sky Sports News are now saying that they 'understand' it to be the case.

Now that the super injunction has been lifted if only ten percent of the rumours flying about regarding JT are true the red tops are still going to hang him out to dry. I think the renting out of his Wembly box to anyone with large amounts of folding readies is the one they'll nail him with.

The Italian reaction in the papers has been pretty scathing. They seem to let these things go over there...

It does seem to be a bit of a big deal over nothing. Just tabloid fodder. But it couldn't have happened to a bigger tool. :D

Indeed. Although it's what he got up to in Vanessa Perroncel's box that has attracted the most headlines, I suspect it's the *ahem* 'other stuff' that is really going to bite him hard.

Anyway, Capello says he's promoting the vice and third choice captains, so it looks like Rio Ferdinand will be getting the armband with Gerrard deputising. However, I feel the natural – and best – choice for England captain has been overlooked.

Cometh the hour, cometh Deano.

Yeah, but who would have the balls to strip him of the captaincy if he did something naughty? :p

I can just see the press conference afterwords: Capello, with broken glasses and a big lump on his head, stating that under the circumstances he was prepared to stand by his captain....:D

Break up the Tigers! They're on quite a run of form at the moment! Good job taking down the bitters today.

We were most, most splendid today. The boys done good.

We've had three home games in the space of a week – Wolves, Chelsea and Manchester City – and from those three you'd look at three points as the target, I'd have been very pleased with four. However, we're unbeaten in those and have picked up five points in the process which is a fantastic return for us. The fact that at 3pm we were in the relegation places and now we're currently in 14th only serves to highlight how tight things are down at the bottom of the table.

And as a bonus, a certain young American found the net too for his first Premier League goal.

Why is the United-Portsmouth match getting all the headlines? It was the most predictable and least interesting of all the matches today. Pfff.

Well done Tigers! Once again Man City look like pretenders. GO ALTIDORE! I want to see more goals from the boy...these last two results for Hull City probably feel like huge bonuses for Phil Brown - I'm sure he did not count on any points from either and yet he's just taken four points off the richest two teams in the league.

Well, he needs something to do as I reckon punditry really isn't ready for Deano just yet...

Awesome. The man looks chiseled out of a solid block of granite...is it any surprise his head is so dense? :D

Re: the Merseyside derby. Not a great game of flowing football, but a very exciting match all the same. After the opening few minutes I felt like Liverpool were never going to score, and Everton had all the attacking threat...up until the point when Fellaini stamped in Liam Neeson's leg. I'll be the first to say Kyrgiakos' tackle was worthy of a straight red, but I think few will disagree that Fellaini's two-footed stamp should have seen him off as well. I can only assume the ref simply didn't see it - which suggests that Fellaini might see a ban anyway.

After the red card Liverpool played better than they have since they beat Man United (which seems years ago now!). They were organized in defense and everybody worked hard. N'Gog held the ball up well though the couple sniffs on goal he had brought disappointing finishes. They won a lot of corners and that's how they manufactured the goal, though Howard and Neville could have done better to hold off the mighty Dirk Kuyt.

As for Everton, they just didn't know how to break down two banks of four. Landon Donovan was constantly isolated on the right, although when he got the ball he did well. Cahill and Saha didn't look bad but I thought Arteta did little. It looked like Everton wanted to just punch through the center most of the time and it was never going to work.

Finally, there was a LOT of diving and nasty tackles, I think we could have seen two or three red cards easily, like Fellaini kicking Kuyt in the face and Mascherano making one of his trademark kamikaze tackles on I think Pienaar - who himself was being pretty naughty and I think deserved his red for persistent fouling even though the foul that actually earned him the card was pretty soft. Gerrard flagrantly dived to win the free kick that he hit off the bar, I'm actually glad it didn't go in because it would have been undeserved.

Luckily it seems that no big injuries resulted from this game, which is a pretty big surprise. I think Fellaini is going to get a ban for the stamp though.

The one today has been coming for a while, and the feeling is that there's more where that one came from. He's been playing very well of late, and it certainly seemed to mean a lot to the lad. He certainly deserved it.

...he's [Phil Brown] just take four points on the richest two teams in the league.
And that really can't be emphasised enough, nor can the fact that the two results were fully deserved. We weren't lucky or favoured by the officials, we weren't 'underestimated' by our opponents or any of that rubbish, nor were we just 'playing them at the right time' as we heard on occasion last season.

We are, quite simply, ace at the moment. In fact, I'd go so far as to say we're aceness squared. This means, therefore, we're going to get our arses kicked by Blackburn. :p

i can't believe it took him this long jaffa. i was expecting more. i think it may be a watershed moment for him though...

One goal in 18 does sound like a tough record...but the kid's only 19 and he's playing in a tough league against very good teams that can dominate possession. He needs to learn to make the most of his chances.

I have great hope for him, especially if he stays in England. All the minutes he's getting right now are valuable experience, and he's shown he's got something to offer in the Prem.

Finally, there was a LOT of diving and nasty tackles,

I'm surprised Kuyt got up after he was kicked in the face, that looked really really sore! I thought Pienaar's sending of it the 90+ minute a bit soft although he should've been off in the first half. Diame's goal for Wigan was stunning as well, goal of the month contender.

As I say, he's been performing well and the only thing that has been missing have been the goals. You also have to remember that playing for us he's not going to get as many chances a game as he would laying for, say, the likes of Chelsea or Manchester United. Hopefully though yesterday's was the first of many League goals for him.

It remains to be seen though if his loan move will be made permanent – the key thing is the state of our finances which may mean that we have to look elsewhere at cheaper options, certainly if we are relegated I can't see us stumping up the cash for him. Fingers crossed that we stay up and in the process Jozy proves himself so invaluable that we do take up the option on him.
