Sunbed? Check.

Earpiece? Check.

Goatee? Check.

Blimey, Phil Brown has gone (kind of) but the old clichés remain. Must try harder, Guardian readers. :p

Anyway, he doesn't look like Sam the Eagle. That's Mr Wenger surely, although I bet Sam the Eagle swears a lot less than the potty-mouthed Frenchman does. :D

Well after 9 months, it now looks there are not one but two interested parties interested in buying Rangers. One is a fans consortium bankrolled by a former boss of mine who want to run a shared ownership scheme on the model of Barcelona, the other some Londoner called Andrew Ellis, any info on him guys?

PML at the appointment of Neil Lennon at Parkhead....

...Andrew Ellis, any info on him guys?
Is that the same chap who had a brief stint at the helm of Northampton Town? I seem to remember it being a bit of a disaster, although I can't offer any information beyond that.

You'll have to see if you can find any Northampton fans who can fill you in on what he was like. Cobblers, I think is the word.

Man Utd didnt really show up today did they? And now they've paid twofold. Losing the match and Rooney in one swoop.

From an England point of view, I hope the potential Rooney injury is nothing too serious. But they didn't really play well tonight, in a match that some people were reckoning was basically a bye into the semi-final.

Wow. That was hideous. United didn't deserve a win or a draw at all. Almost snuck away with it but for that comically hideous sequence at the end, and Van Der Sar didn't have one more unreal save in him tonight. What a horrible time to lay an egg with the Chelsea match looming and the second leg against Bayern next week.

Rooney looks like he twisted his ankle. Hope to heck it's no worse than that!

Property developer Ellis withdrew an unpopular bid to take over English Championship side Queen's Park Rangers in 2001, after being granted a three-week lock-out period to prove he had the cash to back up his proposal.

He also headed a consortium that took control of Northampton Town in 2002.

However, he did not last long at The Cobblers, stepping down from his role as chairman just a few months after his arrival.

BTW, Rangers hammered 4-1 by Saint Johnston tonight, incredible score. Off the Ball (my podcast of choice) is going to be unbearable this weekend.

Can't really comment on tonight's European football. I'm a Scotsman, didn't realise they played European football after Christmas!:p

No complaints - outfought, too casual, shocking midfield, Evra slow all game, just thankful it wasn't more.

Rooney - talk of ligaments, must be a World Cup this year. In a way it serves him right - if he hadn't missed the ball and hit the Bayern defender, Olic would have been substituted.

Here's to a good game tomorrow.

Cheers,
OW

We were talking a month or two ago about certain injuries going in and out of fashion – metatarsals were of course the summer tournament missing malady of choice a few years back – but a couple of players are already out this summer due to Achilles Tendon injuries, the most high-profile being David Beckham of course.

Rooney's isn't that for sure, but there are going to be a lot of nervous Englishmen waiting for the swelling to go down on the ankle so they can work out exactly what is wrong.

And Fantasy Football managers. I pray to the Gods of Football to place a curse on Frank Lampard - only until the end of the season, there is international duty after all.

Absolutely gutted, not by the defeat but the manner of it.. I can only hope SAF made them eat their socks after that.

Regarding Rooney's injury, I've had something like that happen to me, only I twisted it landing from a higher jump, so the twist was more severe. I can tell you that after the swelling goes down, x-rays will show no breaks/fractures (even tho the pain makes you think otherwise) but there will be ligament damage and he will need to back-slab it for at least two weeks. If he doesn't I'll be very surprised.

Edit: Looks like early reports of the injury indicate that it's kinda similar to what happened to me. My only concern now is that they don't rush (basically less than 4 weeks) him into play otherwise he'll get chronic ankle pain syndrome which is seriously debilitating, trust me, I would give anything to be able to play a proper 30 mins of football without having to bow out limping.

Very curious to see just how far Lyon can go - they are certainly underdogs for a final appearance but they have the potential to cause a BIG upset again. I still think Barca have to be the favorites, but I'd love to see a team like Bayern or Lyon in the final - even though the investors and TV people have nightmares about such a scenario.

Drat! I'm glad you mentioned that, I've been busy with real life lately and forgot about my Fantasy Squad...better get rid of "Goal Machine" Rooney and swap Torres Back in. I can't bring myself to use Drogba....

Apparently Rooney's suffered only a sprain, but he'll be out for the rest of the season with a fractured skull after being hit in the head with a shoe... :D

Okay, I may have made that last bit up.

MLS has started well for us in Columbus, with a win over Toronto and Schelotto, despite being 36, is still banging in goals. New York's new stadium looks awesome, and they beat Chicago too, which is great. :)

On a very serious note, it looks like I will be working in the wilds of Alaska for the entirety of June and am going to miss the entire World Cup. :( Looks like I'll just have to beg friends to DVR it and mail me discs for when I get back.

Keep your eyes open for a MacRumors Cup update later this evening your Lordship, I've a feeling that you might like it - and that oscillatewildly won't. :p

Meanwhile, it looks like the boy Fabregas will play tonight...

Good news is always appreciated! :D

I know it's a horribly trite thing to say, but Arsenal need RVP tonight. Barca's array of forwards are going to overwhelm Arsenal's defense, and Wenger's men (well, boys) need to push forward and try to maintain possession. They are one of the few sides who might try to keep the ball away from Barca, but they need a good target up front to develop their approach play. This is Bendtner's biggest chance to prove himself, and I doubt he's up to it.

EDIT: Inter to crush CSKA.

What?! He got the ball! Bloody hell!

We've potentially lost 3 key players in one half!

No goals yet in either CL match...by some miracle. Arsene needs to rally the troops bigtime, but losing Cesc for the away leg is a devastating blow.
