Sadly, wrong. But no frivolous extra match ban added.
I must say, I'm probably not the only one surprised by that. It does seem that if you breathe heavily on players now, they fall over.

In other news, Portsmouth have been allowed to sell players outside the transfer window to allow them to rake in some much needed cash. Interesting that they didn't bother doing that during the actual January transfer window, and were actually trying to sign players!

The Russian window doesn't close until 8th April if I remember correctly... Maybe lots of Pompey players will be following Reira to CSKA Moscow?

Here's a questions though... Who would you want to buy from the Portsmouth squad? Their best player O'Hara doesn't even belong to them! Papa Bouba Diop I would imagine would find a buyer from a mid-EPL side, but I don't really know who else. Belhadj to Barcelona is an old rumour, and Dindane is yet to fill the potential he showed in France. Other than that, anyone fancy the 45 year old Kanu?

EDIT Dindane's on loan from RC Lens

And if you're David James would you want to leave knowing you can't play first team football at a high level, in the build up to a World Cup?

Spurs v. Fulham Tonight....

... and who do you fancy? Spurs must be favourites but I can see Fulham pulling off a bit of a surprise.....

Indeed – there are other internationals there who no doubt feel the same, and lets not forget that all the players have the opportunity of at least a trip to Wembley in the FA Cup, if not a winner's medal. Leave Portsmouth now and they could miss out on one of the biggest matches of their career.

Let's be honest, are there likely many clubs going to want to spend five months or so paying the wages of a player who can't kick a ball in anger for them in the meantime?

Burnley? After all, when Laws was in charge at Wednesday he got 2 loanees in to warm the bench

I'm reckoning extra-time will be good for us in the Spurs-Fulham Cup tie tonight (ahead of our match this weekend against the Cottagers), coupled with a Fulham sending off or two.

Make it happen, Mr M Atkinson (West Yorkshire).

Well, Zamora needs to watch himself, he was lucky not to get a second yellow there.
Bentley certainly seems to have turned the game. Beckham's replacement perhaps? ;)

^^^ Given Leeds recent performances I think we can find it in us to forgive your AWOL.

Cheer up mate, the season's not over yet!

Mowbray sacked by Celtic!

Anyone else thinks he looks like that guy that lives within the hull of a ship in Pirates of the Carribbean?

Whenever I see him in a post match interview he always reminds me of a slightly old-fashioned headmaster.

Remember – be it on or off the premises, you're representing your school and your behaviour should reflect this at all times.

I cant find a pic of the character as I dont know his name but its the really old guy thats embedded in the hull of the ship then comes alive when davy jones locker is mentioned to Will Turner. :D

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

I really hope that Celtic sack Mowbray and Lambert jumps ship up there. The money Celtic pay Norwich, they can give to us to pay our compensation. Maybe that'll make them go bust and the 10 point deduction helps the rest of us at the top out.

I love it when a plan (starts to) comes together

Up the U's. Who incidentally made a 'big name' signing today on loan of.... Frank Queudrue... Although reading his wikepedia:

"Queudrue was a regular for Fulham under Chris Coleman but he was made available for transfer by new manager Lawrie Sanchez as he did not agree with Sanchez's long-ball game."

Doesn't bode well then. Has he seen an Aidy Boothroyd team before?? I'm getting a sore neck watching Colchester!

I came out of hibernation to post about Mobray at lunchtime but my computer died as I hit 'submit reply':( Bloody works PCs.:p

Good riddance seems to be the verdict of my Celtic chums. Paul Lambert seems to be the favorite. It's been pointed out that even the much maligned John Barnes had a better managerial record*. And, "At least Barnes could rap"

* 17 wins from 30 games. Shows how poor Rangers have been if they are only 10 points ahead (plus two games in hand)

Crikey have Villa just handed Chelsea their confidence back and subsequently the title with that goal difference. Also Gunners have again lost their title challenge at St Andrews it seems. Oh dear oh dear...

It would seem so. That's Villa''s first loss in the PL this year, and haven't they made up for it!

Arsenal aren't out of it yet, but their title hopes certainly took a hammer blow today. They now can't afford any more slip ups, but their problem is this – usually it's two teams clear at this point, and the chasing team is hoping that their rival drops points. The Gunners have to pin their hopes on not one but two teams slipping up big time while they maintain their consistency themselves, and while that may happen to either Manchester United or Chelsea I can't see it happening to both clubs. And of course, Arsenal have shown a remarkable ability to shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to games they're expected to win comfortably. We will see.

Anyway, title race schmitle race – everyone knows that it's towards the bottom of the table where all the exciting stuff happens. We enjoyed a fantastic win against Fulham this afternoon while West Ham lost at Stoke – meaning that we're not out of the bottom three but we're level on points with the 17th placed Irons. Contrary to some opinions, we're not down yet.

Arsenal may have dropped critical points today (I'm not surprised, Brum is very tough at home!), but they're still not out of the race by any means. Everyone ruled them out just a few weeks ago after getting through the difficult part of their schedule.

Glad to see Nani paying immediate dividends on his contract extension. Two very classy assists in the second half.

Chelsea sure is scoring goals for fun all of a sudden. The showdown at Old Trafford is going to be very, very interesting.

Glad to see Hull won one! Pulling hard for you guys to stay up.

Edit: Yes, Schalke back on top. Was pulling hard for you guys in the cup match against Bayern last week. Neuer looks fantastic. Today, Bayern lost to Stuttgart and Robben got injured again and is a serious doubt for the CL match on Tuesday.

Edit 2: Gunners catch a big break with Andres Iniesta's injury. He's set to miss both legs against Arsenal now.
