Fabregas went off at half time with a hamstring injury, so have to hope that isn't too serious.
Ah – sorry. That'll be my fault. See, I'd made young Master Fabregas the captain of my fantasy football team this week so it was obvious he'd either get crocked or sent off. Or both.

So, soz and all that.

Altidore in the starting lineup for Hull today.

Edit: Sorry, on the bench.
Indeed, Jozy made his debut this afternoon. He got a fantastic reception as he came on (chants of 'USA! USA!' greeted him), and his response was to set up a goal with his first touch of the ball – dinking it up to Kamel Ghilas to score the only goal of the match.

He's ace that Jozy, and he thinks we're ace too...

That Jozy said:
1-0 great effort from the team and a good result for us. Thanks to the great home support we received today!!!
That's okay, Jozy. We love you an'all :p

We've got Southend United in the League Cup on Tuesday, and I'd like to see Altidore and Ghilas start up front together. What we saw today from those two looked very promising.

Awesome! I want to see our boy getting minutes and scoring goals, or assisting.

A solid three points for the Tigers. Everyone in your neck of the woods must be dancing like Jimmy Bullard at the end of this clip.

Yeah, Altidore impressed me – and as I say there were indications that he could link up very nicely with Ghilas in one of those classic 'big guy-little guy' pairings. We'll see.

Clearly, his knee's getting better. ;)

Oh – and having seen Bolton's new shirts first hand, I can confirm that they are indeed awful.

Aldershot Town 3 - 1 Accrington Stanley
8' Scott Donnelly 1
22' Marvin Morgan 2
48' 1 Phil Edwards
90' Scott Donnelly 3

Sky Sports News are reporting that Everton and Manchester City have agreed a fee for Joleon Lescott, somewhere in the region of £24million.
Good riddance...

Now, PLEASE buy a central defender (or preferably two since Jagielka might be out for a while and Rodwell needs more experience before being moved down as a central defender and I guess Mustafi is a bit young), Phil Neville stinks in that position...as became blatantly obvious in today's miserable match. How effing hard is it to hit the goal for eff's sake...?

A bit sad that Everton didn't make City toss in Jo in addition to a nice fat transfer fee, but that's not too important.

I hope OllyW's boys have a sell-on clause. ;)
Apparently they do:
I hope Lescott goes too, Wolves get 10% of any profit Everton make on the deal.

Good riddance...

On the positive side, you are in a seller's market and probably got more than he's worth. 22 million (BBC's figure) can buy a lot in the hands of a shrewd manager, and you should be able to find a quality defender for that money, but time is short.

That's really the only argument I had against Moyes hanging on to Lescott as long as he did - you get more money but less time to find a replacement.

Yes, I know. I only hope they've actually been working quietly with a replacement...I don't care if it's someone I've heard about or some totally unknown, as long as they can present someone who can go in and replace Lescott without making a complete a** of himself...

On a related note...how long do you think it takes before Dunne or Toure or Lescott begins to sour because they're benched...?

Wolves 10% - the other 90% is earmarked for Kenwright's next production - Everton The Musical.

The money is very good and there is still time to spend it, unlike Levy and Berbatov last season.

MR FF - this week's outgoing player sorted, can't have that light blue blood infecting the squad.

Cheers,
OW

I'm sure I read in one of the newspaper gossip columns (so it could be complete fiction!) that Everton were eyeing up Arsenal's Senderos and that Taylor chap who plays for Newcastle as replacements.

It will be Senderos. Apparently it's been a done deal for a while.

Can I change my choice of "First Premership manager to be handed his P45" to Mr. Benitez? :p

A bit of positive news first – Jozy scored. :)

Meanwhile, on a far less savoury note, there's been a lot of trouble at the League Cup tie between West Ham and Millwall. Fighting outside the ground – including a stabbing – with further violence in the stands during the game, and a couple of pitch invasions to cap the evening off. Bloody idiots, the lot of them.

Morons! Having lived in the shadow of the New Den for 5 years, I never witnessed any trouble either
In other news, we were soundly beaten by Port Value, who also overcame our neighbors. However, it wasn't helped by this:
Their cause was helped by the first-half dismissal of Francis Jeffers who appeared to head-butt Tommy Fraser.
Great!
