Ah sorry. That'll be my fault. See, I'd made young Master Fabregas the captain of my fantasy football team this week so it was obvious he'd either get crocked or sent off. Or both.
So, soz and all that.
Indeed, Jozy made his debut this afternoon. He got a fantastic reception as he came on (chants of 'USA! USA!' greeted him), and his response was to set up a goal with his first touch of the ball dinking it up to Kamel Ghilas to score the only goal of the match.
He's ace that Jozy, and he thinks we're ace too...

Yeah, Altidore impressed me – and as I say there were indications that he could link up very nicely with Ghilas in one of those classic 'big guy-little guy' pairings. We'll see.

Sky Sports News are reporting that Everton and Manchester City have agreed a fee for Joleon Lescott, somewhere in the region of £24million.

Now, PLEASE buy a central defender (or preferably two since Jagielka might be out for a while and Rodwell needs more experience before being moved down as a central defender and I guess Mustafi is a bit young), Phil Neville stinks in that position...as became blatantly obvious in today's miserable match. How effing hard is it to hit the goal for eff's sake...?

On the positive side, you are in a seller's market and probably got more than he's worth. 22 million (BBC's figure) can buy a lot in the hands of a shrewd manager, and you should be able to find a quality defender for that money, but time is short.
That's really the only argument I had against Moyes hanging on to Lescott as long as he did - you get more money but less time to find a replacement.
Yes, I know. I only hope they've actually been working quietly with a replacement...I don't care if it's someone I've heard about or some totally unknown, as long as they can present someone who can go in and replace Lescott without making a complete a** of himself...

I'm sure I read in one of the newspaper gossip columns (so it could be complete fiction!) that Everton were eyeing up Arsenal's Senderos and that Taylor chap who plays for Newcastle as replacements.
Evidently Villa have finally figured out where the back of the net is. More concerns for Liverpool to start the season.

The whole game/performance was quite depressing....
If someone had told me Wolves would be level with Liverpool after 3 games, I would have have expected to have more than 3 points in the bag.
Bilyaletdinov could potentially be a nice signing, but was probably financed well before the Lescott exorsism, so PLEASE go out and buy a central defender or two. Senderos and Hangeland would be nice...

Meanwhile, on a far less savoury note, there's been a lot of trouble at the League Cup tie between West Ham and Millwall. Fighting outside the ground including a stabbing with further violence in the stands during the game, and a couple of pitch invasions to cap the evening off. Bloody idiots, the lot of them.
