At the end of the day I want to be able to tell people, "yeah, we lost our opening fixture but at least we didn't lose to Burnley." :D

In all seriousness Burnley really seem up for this match. The saved penalty was HUGE.

Does this scoreline mean that Spurs are a better side than Chelsea? :D:rolleyes:

Condolences Jaffa, if it's any consolation Spurs already have a top four scalp....

EDIT: Solid win for Liverpool, Stoke have proven a tough team on defense the past and I'm sure the squad wanted to avenge last season's draws.

And well done Burnley! Not only a win against Man U but a 1-0 victory in which they held off United for most of the game. A real nail-biter.

Yeeeuch. Way to show up, Man Utd. :(

Is no one on the squad capable of competently taking a PK?

Jermain Defoe seems to be having a good start to the season, that's five goals in a week for him.

But I wonder if the coppers will pull over the Spurs team coach on the way home tonight? ;)

They looked like sailors in their little kits, bless 'em. Maybe if we tell the rozzers some navy types started a brawl in a city centre bar we can get them pulled over. :)

Them's truly chunky! I hope you didn't hurt your foot.
Luckily, it was a very warm night so my snack was a little on the soft side. Otherwise it could have been quite nasty.

Say what you like about Terry Dolan, I never trod on any sweets during his tenure as manager. Brown out!

Just saw Blake's goal on Match of the Day. Good grief, it was a crackerjack of a strike!

I like it when Spurs get a good start, it's almost better than a bad one.. expectation levels of beating Arsenal/actually doing well reach Fever Pitch, and then when it all inevitably comes crumbling down and Spurs fall, Levy will fiddle with everything and they will fall even further... classic.

I was thinking yesterday of my all time favourite Spurs memory.. it's either the Lasagna season - so close! or the 40 game season - the absolute minimum! Both very funny.

Anyway I digress.

I was very pleased with Arsenal on Tuesday, 0-2 at a very hard place to go and play. We got lucky on the goals, but we dominated the game I felt, limited Celtic's chances to a minimum, and deserved the win. Puts us in a very good position.

COYS!!

so sorry jaffa... :(

The Wednesday...feh!
We apparently dominated the second half in terms of posession, but couldn't stick it in the back of the next. Their keeper pulled off a couple of fantastic saves as well

Sounds like The Wednesday...

I expect the banter @bigsoccer.com betwixt the two teams to be very lively... ;)

I'm really liking Spurs for the first two matchdays.
:D

I'm a Chelsea supporter and I feel that Chelsea have a very high chance of winning the Premiership this year. Anyone else a Chelsea supporter?

Jensen - joke on Saturday, great on Wednesday - curse him!

Penalty - should let Berbatov have another go :D

Manchester United - the stuttering continues from last season, never really got going from the week before the second Inter Milan game - the Arsenal Semi a minor blip/fluke.

Spurs - is the squad good enough?

Cheers,
OW

Not sure how to post a link to this, but in iTunes, Goals of the Season 2006/07 is currently free. It's about an hour long so worth having.

Also, i'm enjoying being joint top of the Fantasy League for the time being.

Arsenal have a better defense, and Spurs are guaranteed to lose Ledley King at some point. If Harry can get the defense to make it through a season somehow they have a chance.

Watching the Arsenal - Portsmouth game, and Arsenal is toying with their opposition the first half hour. Arsenal doesn't even look like they're sweating...

Edit: And then Almunia gets out juped by a defender and Portsmouth pulls one back, and is back in the game somehow...football is weird sometimes...

Fabregas went off at half time with a hamstring injury, so have to hope that isn't too serious.
