Arsenal can add another injury to its list. Apparently, according to Dutch TV, RVP could be out for 2 or 3 months due to torn ankle ligaments.

Just flipping great! Thats two strikers out already!

Hoping for speedy recovery.

Only consolation is goals have been coming from various positions thus far...hopefully it stays that way

I'm getting fed up with these injuries coming from irrelevant international games.
I am Dutch, and I hope for a gr8 Holland campaign in the summer, but being an Arsenal fan I wish for a superb van Persie season, and Arsenal need him.

If I had to choose: Arsenal > Holland.
And it's not like van Persie never missed a domestic game through injuries before.... I really hate this.

Such irony!!!

Pretty much every pundit out there has been crowing recently about how great RVP is now that he has actually stayed healthy for a spell (and he has been in excellent form, no doubt about it)....and then he gets hurt.

It's definitely going to hurt Arsenal and I daresay they are going to miss Adebayor a bit. Still the Gunners look set for a strong season.

RE: England-Brazil. From the first minute I felt that only one side was going to win that game. Which isn't to say England were terrible; they defended well and fashioned a number of good chances. But Brazil just looked to have the edge most of the match.

They were diving quite a bit I thought, those Brazilians. England looked a bit slow in defense. But they still looked good despite missing some major players. I think you English-types should thank your lucky stars you've got Capello - he is a top drawer manager. He's taken a very good group of players who were under-performing and improved them significantly.

England,

Defence - full-back sleeping then goes to pieces, centre-backs not covering, if they communicated it would be a start! The full-backs got forward in the first-half but were ignored.

Midfield - is it asking too much of a professional footballer to expect him to cross the ball well? Missing - at one point we wondered whether England were playing with ten men. We went through the team but couldn't recall the eleventh player and had to look at Teletext to find him, Barry. THud did well when he came on.

Forwards - what are you supposed to do with no service? Hopefully Bent will be given another chance. Rooney - too deep in order to get the ball, leaving Bent with two or three Brazil players.

Too many players not up to the job.

Luck of the Irish - you can tell Anelka has been training with Lampard.

Nani - yep, frustrating sums him up.

RvP - being selfish - typical, Chelsea coming up. Some important Fantasy Football players getting injured.

Cheers,
OW

I really wanted to see the Gunners stick it to Chelsea too. Shame. Isn't Bendtner hurt too?

My Fantasy Squad is in tatters and I haven't had time to fix it, so I'll be dropping down the table like a stone.

EDIT:Maradona banned for two months for his highly entertaining and tremendously raw outburst. I think he saw Joe F. Kinnear's rant at the press last season and decided to prove that, once again, whatever the English can do when it comes to football the South Americans can do it better! :D

RvP is out for 6 weeks according to Arsenal, which is a lot better than it could've been - although invariably there is a lot of flexibility with these things, so I would say we would be lucky to see him this year again, but - maybe. Bendtner is indeed injured.. mid december for him I think. It is a shame. We'll see whether Robin rediscovers the form he's shown so far when he returns - hopefully.

A couple of months ago, when Scotland had the usual brave but ultimately unsuccessful World Cup campaign, manager George Burley was given the full backing of the SFA. Now after two friendly matches and still another 16 months until we play a competitive match, they sack him? I just don't get it.

Who on earth is going to replace him? Walter Smith will be out of a contract in January and although Rangers are in no position to offer him anything other than a rolling weekly contract, I still don't see him going and since he already walked out on Scotland once I wouldn't be too welcoming of him either!

Very odd timing to be sure - although it does give them a lot of time to find a new manager. But who will want the job now? Becoming Scotland manager now means getting hired for months of inactivity.

In the meantime, what kind of formation do you expect from Wenger?

Not sure. He's been playing a 4-3-3 pretty much every game so far, with Fabregas Song and.. Diaby in midfield, then Arshavin Bendtner van Persie upfront. It is possible to continue that, midfield is unaltered, then Arshavin Eduardo and possibly Nasri or Rosicky filling in in the final attacking position, but I don't know if he will drop to a 4-4-2 now van Persie is out. I also don't know how long Walcott has got until he is fit, or Vela.. if he's even alive?! It will be interesting. The positive thing is the goals are coming from everywhere, apparently something like 16 players have scored so far this season, so if we can carry on like that, we will be okay.

Eduardo is still a good option up front, I thought Vela was able to play but could be wrong, and anyway it seems you'll be getting a few players back by the end of the month.

But RVP...the man is made of glass it seems!

While reading some football-related nonsense today I just discovered a hilarious statistic: 20% of Bobby Zamora's goals for Fulham have come off his backside. :D

Burley should have been sacked long ago. Never given the job in fact.

Don't worry about Smith. His loyalty is with Rangers thankfully and he wouldn't go near the Scotland job again. The entire SFA needs cleared out to be honest.

Curious to know...how in the HELL does Henry's goal not get called? Ridiculous! Poorly called match. At least my Greeks made it in, first time in the last 16 years.

Henry's handball was too blatant to not have been called. Stonewall free kick to the irish.

Shocking refereeing

Henry, the French team & the Referee should all write personal apologetic letters to the Irish team for that daylight robbery

Borrowing from other sport, how do you feel about -

Each team has one video challenge per half and one in extra-time. A team's right for the period is lost at the earlier of it making an incorrect challenge and the end of the period.

Cheers,

Please explain to me why, when we do finally introduce video technology, we have to limit it to one use per team. What would be the point then? I'm sure that when one team uses up its "video right" the other team would return to cheat knowing that they won't be scrutinized so closely again. If video tech is to be introduced then it should be done properly and wholly, we've given these spoilt, millionaire fakers, divers and cheats enough of our patience and tolerance as it is, and all I feel now is bitter and anger. The only idiots I despise more than the cheaters are the *******s who sit idly by and let them get away with it and the ignorant that will come out the next few days who instead of simplifying video tech will only serve to castrate, complicate and delay it.

I mean for Christ's sake how hard is it to add a tv monitor set-up with a fifth official somewhere in the stadium and taking one minute to confirm game decisions?

Well, the BBC are hosting a Live Reaction to the Henry handball incident. Honestly, why??? It's not as if a referee has never made a bad decision before. I can understand the fans being peeved, but calls for France to be disqualified, or the game to be replayed? Talk about over reaction. While ever video evidence isn't used, these sort of things will always happen

Its a bad decision in a game that will either send you to the World Cup, or home, and thats why it is being talked about heavily. The hand ball was quite obvious, and its a shame that the game had to be decided by that, and the non-dive call in extra time.

Disagree

Agree

Agree

You probably won't like this, but I don't want to see Ferguson, Macgregor or Boyd in a Scotland strip again.
