USA! USA! USA!

Seeing Kesler score that empty netter to put the nail in Canada's coffin must've been very conflicting for the Canucks fans at GM (err, Canada) Hockey Place. :D

And Cindy Crosby is crying in the locker room right now. "Whyyyyyyy?! Why wasn't Bettman there to pay the refs off for me?!?!?!?!" Eff him. Someone shoulda broke his femur.

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! Go for the gold boys!

Wow, that was an amazing game. I have to say, I'm somewhat surprised, but very pleased that the US was able to win this one.

I didn't even think of that.:D I'm sure they were all pissed.

Wahwahwah. He's one of the best players in the world. Get over yourself.

Wishing injury on someone.....

BTW, are you wearing your hockey helmet made out of tinfoil?

Dude, what are you talking about? That loss wasn't Brodeur's fault. The whole team played badly (including Brodeur), and Miller stood on his head. Get a grip.

I had a feeling that the US was going to pull this one off. I hope that this loss will be what the Canadian Team needs to bring them to the reality that they need to play harder and be more organized, and that any team can win this thing.

Any team can win on any given night.

Canada needs to turn in on in the tournament.

The team played badly, but Broduer was BY FAR the worst. The first and second goals were completely preventable and started by Broduer. What kind of idiot goalie bats the the puck out like that?

I disagree. He thought that he had a clearing to get the puck out. If he didn't do that, there were 2 or 3 Americans all over the puck. I think that he was seeing how shaky the defense was playing.

Really? Brodeur was the worst part? Where were all of our scorers? Where was the Sharks top line? Why was our defense allowing so much traffic in front of Brodeur? Why couldn't they get the puck out of our zone?

They failed as a team. If Luongo was in there, the result would have been the same. And then you would be saying how bad Luongo is, and that Babcock is crazy for not playing Brodeur.

I don't think that we'll see this team play that badly again.

You're the only one. ;)

Broduer embarrasses entire country. Luongo will start against Germany.

I assure you that I'm not the only one. Perhaps the only one around here......

Obviously Luongo will get the start, but only because the team needs a good shake up.

Embarrasses entire country? I didn't know that we were so fragile and sensitive......

Wow, we are losing to Sweden.....what a crappy game, cant watch... lol

+ cant believe Canada lost as well

Canada looked real good the first period, I seriously thought the first US goal was a fluke because of how well they were handling the puck. Miller was a puck stopping machine though, jesus.

I think that it's funny that the local NBC news here in LA just did a whole news story about the Canada/USA game. It's funny because NBC didn't even think that the game was important enough to put on their main channel (they showed it on MSNBC). And it's funny because when the Kings or the Ducks are playing, they show around 2 seconds worth of footage and maybe flash the score on the screen (if they mention them at all).

And the report was by one of their regular reporters, not one of their sports reporters.

She's making it seem like the US just won the most important hockey game ever..... like they just won the Gold. I wouldn't be surprised if some viewers who don't follow the Winter Olympics or hockey (imagine that in SoCal:rolleyes:) think that they won the gold because of the report.

She just said that "33 million people in Canada embrace hockey". I don't think that everyone in Canada is a hockey fan.

Oh, and I feel your pain, nava.

EDIT: Now the sports reporter did his report in the sports segment on the same news channel about the game.
He called Ryan Kesler: "Greg Kesler".

*sigh*

Before I go off and chant USA...

Tell me you people saw the hit Ovie put on Jagr? HOLY SHIZ!!! If you didn't see it, you need to see it. Unreal.

Anyways...

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

That had to be one of the greatest games I have ever seen. Brodeur was very un-Brodeur like and the rest of the Canadian squad couldn't help him out either. Ryan Miller looked like a god in net and Rafalski decided to come out of nowhere (he has 4 goals in 59 games with the Red Wings).

Absolutely amazing.

Yes! I knew I forgot to mention something. That was an awesome hit. Ovechkin can do it all......

I think he trying to send Jaromir a message: "This is how we hit in the NHL.... remember quitter?"

They were saying how Jagr is/was the hardest person to move off the puck, clearly Ovechkin knows how to do it quite well

I hated Jagr (especially when he went to the Rags) He was so filthy back when he was paired up with Super Mario. I guess the success of those 2 back to back cups got to his head or something.

Yeah, Jagr has/had huge legs, which made it very difficult to move him. Crosby's got the same thing going on- that's one of the reasons why he's such a great skater and so good protecting the puck in the corners.

Those Pens teams were unreal. Seeing Mario and Jagr playing together was sickening.

There has been talk all season that Jagr will be back in the NHL next season, and that he just wanted one season off. Maybe Ovie can hit him hard like that on a more regular basis....:D

He is massive mofo. I hate Crosby too. Don't get me wrong, he's good and all but I honestly think he's coddled too much and gets a lot of calls in his favor.

They need to bring back those jerseys. The rocked. Speaking of jerseys... The Devils brought back their Red, White and Green ones!!!

Oooo I'd pay to see Jagr get lit up like that on a daily basis!!!

Yeah, Jagr has always acted like a selfish me-me-me player.

The problem with Crosby is that he has been mentored by Lemieux, so he is emulating him. When I see how Crosby behaves, it reminds me of how Mario used to act. Everyone hated Lemieux too. I don't think he's coddled too much though..... I don't see it.

Those red, green, and white jerseys are sick. I used to have a Devils hat with those colors, I wish I still had it.....

He still does. Alas, if he comes backs he will definitely be able to help a team out, as long as he shows up and doesn't quit.

Truth. We'll agree to disagree :)

Aren't they! I think when I get some extra money, I'll pull the trigger on that jersey. It's too friggin' awesome.

Next up, they need to bring back the Whale.

Best logo!

When I start to miss it, I just look at barr08's avatar.

My friend was born there and was a Whalers fan (now converted to an Isles fan). He rocks his jersey every now and again.

I see quite a few Whales at the coliseum. Bring back the Whale.

Ovechkin is a really interesting character. I look forward to his displays of physical play in the upcoming games. He sure seems to enjoy the physical aspects of the game, and when he hits, he sure hits hard.

Bring back the Whale, indeed.

It would be great if the 'Canes wore Whalers throwbacks every once in a while. It is a part of their history, and it would show respect to their past.
