Bring back the Whale, indeed.

It would be great if the 'Canes wore Whalers throwbacks every once in a while. It is a part of their history, and it would show respect to their past.

Absolutely! Saturday night throwback night (seems to be the popular night to do that). Rock the whale and the goal song should be changed to brass bonanza.

Yes! I knew I forgot to mention something. That was an awesome hit. Ovechkin can do it all......

I think he trying to send Jaromir a message: "This is how we hit in the NHL.... remember quitter?"

Dude
That's called finishing your check:D:D:D

Imagine how Lindy Ruff feels:mad:. His own goalie was basically lights out:eek:

Surely
I hope your boyz play well against Germany only to face Russia:p

Kid Rock came out for his encore last night wearing a Bobby Ryan USA jersey;) The crowd went freak'n nuts:cool:

I think that it's funny that the local NBC news here in LA just did a whole news story about the Canada/USA game. It's funny because NBC didn't even think that the game was important enough to put on their main channel (they showed it on MSNBC). And it's funny because when the Kings or the Ducks are playing, they show around 2 seconds worth of footage and maybe flash the score on the screen (if they mention them at all).

And the report was by one of their regular reporters, not one of their sports reporters.

She's making it seem like the US just won the most important hockey game ever..... like they just won the Gold. I wouldn't be surprised if some viewers who don't follow the Winter Olympics or hockey (imagine that in SoCal:rolleyes:) think that they won the gold because of the report.

She just said that "33 million people in Canada embrace hockey". I don't think that everyone in Canada is a hockey fan.

Oh, and I feel your pain, nava.

EDIT: Now the sports reporter did his report in the sports segment on the same news channel about the game.
He called Ryan Kesler: "Greg Kesler".

*sigh*
If you stayed with MSNBC you would see some guy claim that this is the biggest victory since the Miracle on Ice...

umm i think that little tourney in 96' was bigger. But you bring up a point-those who were watching the main NBC station around 10PM Pacific notice that they cut to the last 30 or seconds of the game right before they went to bobsled? Was I the only one who was insulted? If you think it is soooo important then I got one question:

WHY DON"T YOU SHOW THE WHOLE FREAKING GAME YOU MORONS ????

I am willing to bet 95% of the people watching won't even know who Ryan Miller is or even who he plays for, if they even know what the NHL is. Maybe I am over-reacting. But I just felt so insulted that to try to make it seem that this is breaking news when nearly anyone who was on ESPN, or any major news/sports website saw this story and knew the outcome. In fact, I believe it diminishes the significance by just flashing it on the screen.

end rant

USA v Switzerland at 3pm

and

Russia v Canada at 7:15pm

Oh baby!!! :D

Hells yeah!

It's a good hockey day!

Canada needed that lopsided win yesterday against Germany. Maybe it'll turn out to be a good thing that the US beat Canada. Champions usually need to go through hard times in order to come together as a team.

The line combinations that Babcock used yesterday finally made sense. What took him so long?

I was starting to doubt Scott Niedermeyer's purpose for being on the team (and captain) until yesterday's game. He played great yesterday. What a shot that guy has.

Luongo really wasn't challenged much, so I hope he's up for today's game. I still think that Brodeur should be starting...... everyone seems to forget how well he played against Switzerland, faced 4 guys he's never seen before in the shootout who all used different moves, and he stopped them all.

I'm nervous for today's game against the Russians.... as long as Canada can somehow contain the Ovie-Semin-Malkin line, we should pull through.

Im confident Canada will pull it through, they must. And then at 5am my time FIN-CZE! Oh and i was wrong about the positions, i said Finland or Canada would win and 3rd would be Russia, but nope, hmm this will get interesting. Just hope the 3rd will not be Sweden. ;)

If Mats Sundin was still on Sweden, I would cheer for them.:D

Hopefully your Finns will win for you....... if they do, they'll most likely face the US in the semi-finals. Unless Hiller stands on his head and wins the game for the Swiss.

I can't wait to see Ovechkin laid out Crosby;) Oh,sorry Surely I meant "finish his check":p:D

Peace

Remember that epic chant at the end of the Germany game last night?

"WE WANT RUSSIA"

I hope to hear that again but "WE WANT GOLD". It was so epic! I felt like I was watching Turkish Super Leauge football (soccer)

Actually, I hate hearing that. It seems cocky.

It's like when there's a blowout, for example 8-0, and the crowd starts chanting "We want 9".

Were you born in Canada or something? You're way too polite ;)

Who cares if its cocky and it's nothing like "We want 9". When they chanted "We want russia" we had already won the game it wasn't a request of the players to do something.

But I guess we can just cheer politely if you like. Perhaps even cheer for the russians when they score, that would be fair!

Come on now.

I'm just not a fan of being cocky and rubbing it in the face of the other team while the game is still going on. It's not classy. Usually nothing good comes from it....
It's just my opinion though, you are welcome to think as you'd like.

It's kind of like being out in front in snowboard cross, and then doing a trick to show off, and then falling.....

And, yes, I was born in Canada. I moved to LA 2 years ago.

See Russia, this is how you play hockey.

Okay you're right but please tell that to your American friends.
