GO MONTREAL!!!!

How exciting! What an amazing end to that game.

If the 2nd round is anywhere near this fun in almost every game, I will be ecstatic.

Ok, Boston. Old school rivals of the Flyers. Could be an ugly series for the Flyers with all of the injuries.

Looking forward to it.

I just wanted to reply directly to the OP.

Thanks for the 2nd overall pick next year. Hopefully the Leafs will continue to stink up the joint and we'll have another lottery pick the following year too.

(Now on to the second round. Hope Kessel's enjoying watching it on tv as much as I am.)

Looking for history? Look up Barry Pederson trade.

Um.... Okay then. So much angst.

Anyway, thanks for Kessel. I will very much enjoy his 40+ goals per season over the next 5-8 years. Good luck on your draft gamble, I truly hope that you don't end up with another Daigle, Stefan, or Lawton. That would just be terrible.

God... You're actually making me want the Flyers to win now:eek:

JOHN FERGUSON AWARD – Toughest Player
Ian Laperriere, Philadelphia
Not to give away too much, but my First Round Award goes to the recipient of THN's Regular Season Award. For the second time this year, the tough-as-nails 36-year-old blocked a shot with his face, only to return later in the same game. The fact he’s done for the playoffs as a result of said face-shot-block will hurt Philly’s chances against Boston. Plus, take a look at his nose on his player bio pic. Now that’s a hockey player.

REPORT: SABRES' RIVET PLAYED ENTIRE SEASON WITH TORN LABRUM

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=319874

According to a reporting the Buffalo News, Sabres' team captain Craig*Rivet has a double labrum tear in his left shoulder and will undergo surgery to repair it.

Rivet hopes to return in time for Sabres' training camp in September.* Typical recovery time is between four and six months.

Rivet originally suffered the injury way back on November 29th after absorbing a hit from then Montreal Canadiens forward Guillaume*Latendresse.

"Ultimately, I wanted to try and fight through the injury and not have the major surgery," Rivet told the Buffalo News.* "The doctor said, "It's just going to be your decision because you're going to have to deal with the pain."

Know how to double your chances in a lottery? Buy 2 tickets. Thanks for both picks. But I can see how Kessel's performance this year helped the team. Did you know he has as many points in the playoffs as I do?

Pederson to Vancouver for Neely and first round pick (Glen Wesley). 8 years later, Wesley traded for 1st round pick (Sergei Samsonov). 5 years later, Bruins trade Samsonov for 2nd round pick (Milan Lucic). I think the Bruins know a little something about the draft. The Leafs? Hmmm...1991 (trade 1st round pick to NJ who takes Niedermayer), 1997 (trade 1st round pick to Islanders who take Luongo). The draft's a crap shoot if you don't know what you're doing.

You might have a point about Daigle, Stefan, and Lawton...if they were Bruins picks.

If you're carrying that kind of luck around with you, then PLEASE root for the Flyers.

Thanks for Tukka Rask by the way (1st round, 21st overall by the...Leafs?).

I live in Montreal and the atmosphere here is amazing. At school today, 1 in every 7 people had a habs jersey on (a school of 1800). In Montreal last night, as soon as the game ended, every car on Ste. Catherines (Montreal's most common street) was halted.

As for all of these draft trades, my prediction this year is Carey Price and Montreal's 1st rounder or 2nd rounder for Tampa Bay's 1st round pick (6th overall). And Montreal will be picking up someone of value, maybe Marleau?

And I can see Kovalchuk going somewhere who REALLY needs him (Florida, Minnesota), but there is no way that Washington re-signs Theodore, they need the extra $4.5 Million to resign Backstrom.

As for the 2010-11 season, I can really see Edmonton being a threat. With a top line of Paavjavri-Svennson, Eberle and Seguin, they will make the playoffs next year...

*yawn*

Your argument is a tired one.

Kessel absolutely helped the team this year. He is a bright glimmer of hope for his teammates. He just can't be expected to do it all on his own. Once there is a team around him to support him, look out.

Kessel had a major shoulder issue, only played 70 games, and still scored 30 goals and had 25 assists. Pretty damn solid if you ask me. Once he has a proper center to play with, 40 goals will be automatic.

The Leafs are in the middle of a rebuild if you haven't noticed. Burkie traded away all of our veterans. We are very well positioned for a long time to come. Players actually want to play in Toronto again.

Leaf fans weren't expecting much this year. For the first time in 20 years, there is a sense of patience amongst Leaf Nation.

You can't use stuff that happened in 1991, 1997, or even the Rask trade to evaluate our current management or their philosophy. All those (bad) decisions were made by GMs with a "trade the future to win now" attitude or by GMs who were scrambling to keep their job. Burkie has a 5 year deal, and has the club's long term interests in mind.

Here is a list of the Bruin's first round draft picks from the last ten years. Yeah, your GM has a perfect draft track record:rolleyes::

2000: Lars Jonsson (seventh overall) & Martin Samuelsson (27th overall)
2001: Shaone Morrisonn (19th overall)
2002: Hannu Toivonen (29th overall)
2003: Mark Stuart (21st overall)
2004: None
2005: Matt Lashoff (22nd overall)
2006: Phil Kessel (fifth overall)
2007: Zach Hamill (eighth overall)
2008: Joe Colborne (16th overall)
2009: Jordan Caron (25th overall)

I recognize a couple of names there..... and one of them is a Leaf. Would it have been better if I said that I hope you don't end up with another Morrisonn, Toivonen, or Lashoff?(And don't forget the )

Dude
If I were you, I'd be a little nervous...:p:rolleyes:

Trust me...;)

Oh believe me I am...the only hope I have is that their lack of depth on the bench will eventually catch up to them. My big question is how the f*ck are we gonna score on Halak? He's like a friggin iron curtain.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that:eek:. You didn't have a problem last night...:p

My boyz play today:D
Go Flyers...

Good game so far. Great comeback by the Flyers.... Awesome goal by Briere!

I'm sure NBC is sweating the potential overtime..... They've got a 20 second horserace to show:rolleyes:

I could not watch cause I'm working:(.My son told me the Flyers looked real rusty. Not good... I'm bummed.

Your argument is a tired one.

Perhaps because it's been mentioned often as fact. Hmmmm....

At this point, all I need to do is sit back and watch you spin, sir. For if you believe that your team's year-after-year ineptitude can, in any way, be explained any anything other than lack of hockey sense, then you have no hockey sense. :)

I find it amusing that you conveniently started your list without reaching to the Joe Thornton pick whereas I can easily reach back to 1991. Further I'm sure, if I cared to.

Allow me to help you with your list...Bruin draft picks currently playing in the playoffs for the Bruins since 2000 (you picked the year, not me):
2003 - Patrice Bergeron, Mark Stuart (injured)
2004 - David Krejci, Matt Hunwick
2005 - Vladmir Sobotka
2006 - Milan Lucic (the Pederson trade just keeps on giving)

Maple Leaf draft picks since 2000 currently on their roster (which means not in the playoffs):
2003 - John Mitchell (more penalty minutes than points)
2006 - Nikolai Kulemin (granted, this kid had a good year)
2007 - Carl Gunnarsson (15 pts, what can you expect from a 7th round pick?)
2008 - Luke Schenn (a +2 makes him 3rd best on the team)

I think if you watch enough playoff hockey this year, you might get reacquainted with Mark Stuart, a current Bruin. Great playing today by Rask, don't you think? How's Raycroft working out for you? :p

Once [Kessel] has a proper center to play with...
Or is it, "Once he has a proper team to play wtih..."

I love this hockey smack talk. I don't even dislike the Leafs. After the Whalers left town, someone had to be the division punching bag.
