Come on Gav, don't act all naive about it - the Ferrari bias over the past decade has been quite obvious.

I'm not being naive, nor do I think it unreasonable to request that statements such as "since I was hoping to get some impartiality away from Ferrari" or "and the favoritism that the FIA has shown to Ferrari over the past few seasons" be qualified.

I'm well aware of the potentially contentious decisions made in F1 over the years, particularly those where it is perceived by some that Ferrari have been unfairly favoured to the detriment of the other teams, I'm also equally aware of the instances where it is clear that no favouritism was demonstrated by the FIA (despite the obvious potential to do so), quite the opposite in fact.

And as for the appropriateness of Todt as the president of the world governing body of motorsport...

How does that call into question his suitability or appropriateness for the role of FIA President? Let's be honest, it doesn't in anyway whatsoever does it.

wow bbc coverage of f1 is so different from us coverage on speed.

i dunno which i like better, it was lame though that the bbc coverage didn't have the interviews at the end.

I'll take the SPEED announce team over the BBC folks any time, any day, and anywhere. :)

Seriously, I've been a fan of Bob and Dave since they covered F1 on ESPN/ESPN2 back in the 1980s/1990s and really missed them when F1 went to Fox Sports in between ESPN2 and SPEED (though Mike Joy pleasantly surprised me during his stint covering it on Fox when TNN lost NASCAR - he really did his homework).

Have to say that Yaz Marina Circuit is incredible. The TV shots on SPEED for Second Practice were impressive. I can kind of understand why Bernie wants the races out of Europe - the circuits just cannot compete in amenities and ambience, even if some like Silverstone, Spa and Monza have such epic weights of history behind them.

Sure gets dark fast in Abu Dhabi. When Practice 2 started it was nice and sunny. 30 minutes in the shadows were noticeable. By halfway (45 minutes) it was pretty dark and for the final 30 minutes it looked like Singapore. The Q3 qualifying session might be interesting.

The race starts about an hour earlier than P2 or Qualifying, but it should still be noticeably dark at the end.

The Red Bull Technology cars looked generally solid as did the McLarens. Ferrari was generally nowhere.

Kimi essentially confirmed he will be rallying next year. Only question is will it be full time or in-between his stints as a McLaren driver (assuming they can come to an agreement).

Rubens replacing Kaz at Williams is interesting. I guess he feels he'd stay a #2 to JB at Brawn. And Nico Hulkenberg is replacing Nico Rosberg in the other seat. If Kimi does not sign with McLaren I expect Rosberg will. If Kimi does sign, then I am guess Rosberg will go to Brawn. As for the switch from Toyota to Cosworth, I guess Williams is hedging their bets in case Toyota does pull out - though they supposedly gave Truli a firm offer, which he rejected in favor of a spot with Renault or Manor F1. Truli is also said to be out at Toyota, so if they do stay, I am guessing it will be Kobayashi and someone else.

I like the old circuits. And I'll bet attending a race like Abu Dhabi is out of $ reach for us mere mortals.

If you are in the UK watching the F1 quali and seeing Jake in the Elise then enjoy. The car is prepped by Sinclaire Motorsport who look after my (road) Elise and we was trained by carlimits who ran the airfield day I was at last Sunday. I know what it's like to have Walshy tell you exactly what you are doing wrong :D

I'm watching.

Ooops!!

If it wasn't so expensive to get into the series he's in is one I'd like to race in. I've worked it out. The first season, if you already own an Elise to start with to modify for racing, would cost £20k :(

You need sponsorship!

Maybe Arn would like a MacRumors Elise team...
:D

EDIT: Ferrari World?!?!

Sounds awful!

Well I certainly don't want to lose Silverstone, Monza, Monaco and Spa. I also love Valencia. But to be honest, I'm not shedding a tear at the loss of Magny-Cours, they neutered Hockenheim and the I concur with those who refer to the Nürburgring's GP-Strecke as the "Ersatzring".

Now I'm all in favor of more races, but if there has to be a limit of 17 to 18, then to be honest I am okay with losing European rounds at places like Hockenheim, the Nürburgring, the Hungaroring and the Circuit de Catalunya in order to restore Canada and the United States as well as add new circuits like Korea, India and Russia.

Now on to qualifying.

Man, Lewis was one fire. Looks like 3rd place in the Constructor's Championship is McLaren's to lose. And Red Bull Technology's cars had another excellent showing.

And I forgot about the time change here in the States, so the race will indeed end well into the darkness, which is going to be cool.

This track/race is so dull. The place looks nice and great under lights but I want some overtaking and some close up racing. The only real overtaking has been when people have come out of the pits.

Too many of these new tracks offer good looks and little substance. Boooored.

Edit: ooh Jenson nearly proved me wrong. Damn red bulls.
