A nice flurry of trades today. Trade deadline is fast approaching!

I can't believe how little the Pens gave up for Kovalev....a 7th rounder!



Leafs won in Montreal tonight 5-4. Kessel had 2 goals, 2 assists......6 goals in the past 5 games. Bozak with 2 goals, 1 assist.:D We chased Auld out of the net.....

Lebda's really playing well now that he's in the lineup and has more responsibility. Hopefully he can be a nice surprise.

And James Reimer (who?) with a 9-4-2 record ever since coming up from the Marlies. Amazing.

Oh, and now we're only 4 points behind Carolina for the final playoff spot.......

I was thinking 5th rounder for Kovy. 7th is cheap! Probably see him back in the uni tonight! Get well soon Sid.

Sure, but that's not how teams are measured in this league.

What matters is what place you are in in your conference. Overall doesn't matter for the playoffs. All that matters is that you get in. Once that happens, anything can happen.



How many teams that have won the President's Trophy (first overall in the league) have won the Stanley Cup in the same season? Only 7.

Not that I'm wishing this, but I'd bet that the Canucks (who have first overall right now) will get knocked out either in the first or the second round.


The regular season is practice for the real season: the playoffs.

The more the merrier. We are actually only skating 2 or 3 call ups tonight. The fewest in a long time. Of course we still have key injuries but things are looking up.
 
This Leafs vs. Pens game has been crazy. It's 5-5 with 6 minutes to go, and it's just been a back and forth affair. Every time I think one of the teams will hold the lead, the other ties it up.

Both goalies aren't playing very well and just can't seem to make the big saves when needed.

Go Leafs........
 
The Flyers get beat to **** by the Sen's ( I did say the Sen's ):confused::mad::eek:

Bruins are starting to look like a legit contender... they beat the NHL leading Canucks tonight 3-1 in Vancouver. Lucic scored the game winner in his hometown :D
 
Oh yeah.....trade deadline day. I've got the NHL network on, and thankfully they're showing TSN's Tradecentre all day. I also have my iPad's TuneIn Radio app set to the FAN590 for their coverage.

Nothing to do today but hockeyhockeyhockey. :p

Yeah, Ottawa........yikes. To be fair, Anderson is a very good goalie. I can't believe they were able to get him for so little. Friggin' Avs.
 
What time does it end? Seems like the trades got done early this year. Not much to do today. I know the Pens where thinking about some blue line help but I honestly don't expect anything to happen.

Holly crap long wait till next game. Wednesday the Laffs again :p maybe Martin and Kunitz will be back.

Are you really making fun of the Leafs after Saturday's game? A 6-5 win after a shootout isn't much to get excited about.......

Lighten up! I always call them that, its not at your expense. But the Pens did win that one eh? It was entertaining anyway.

They barely won it. I suppose it was an entertaining game, but it wasn't well played by the goalies and defense, or well officiated by the refs.

I'd rather see a well-played/well-officiated 1-0 game any day.

And I still friggin' hate the shootout. So dumb.

Yeah but sometimes the well played games can be very boring. Like watching two teams trap each other the whole game. Its just the up and down with the emotions. Believe me i would feel the same way as you if the pens where the ones that lost. I dont think you are going to see defense like that this round. At least from the pens. We get martin back and Fluerry hasnt had many bad games lately.
 
Anyone feel like this was asking out that girl and while you expected her to turn you down you are still bummed that she did? I mean I know we didnt expect any major deals, but there is always one or two big ones that make people talk

(Before anyone says Penner, he is not the same player anymore and one could argue the Kings overpaid for a mediocre player in my opinion)

It just happened different this year. I thought I heard there were more trades this year than in a long time? It's just that some of the bigger trades where done early so it got everyone else moving. And a lot of the trades were mutually beneficial. There are only like 5 teams technically out of it right now. I am pretty happy with the trades the Pens made. There is a good chance that Neil could stay with the team long term. Lets get on with the race to the finish.

Dude, what are you talking about? That Jeff Penner and Mikko Lehtonen for Anton Khudobin was epic!


Yeah, today was a bit of a yawner. I'm just glad it was over at noon out here.:p I don't think I would have been able to take it until 3pm.

I'm glad the Leafs stood pat (besides shipping Mitchell to the Rangers for a pick). If we couldn't get Lyles or Weiss for a reasonable price, I'm glad we did nothing. I hope we're able to re-sign MacArthur to keep that line together.
 
Can anyone explain on what basis a player is kicked out of a draw? I know it has to do with how they put their stick down and in what order, but beyond that I have no idea.
