Hockey karma for Joe Thornton diving like a Serie A soccer player the other night. Great series.

^^^^Listen to the goalie!:p

Great game.....I was only able to catch the 2nd and 3rd period (they weren't showing it at the gym... surprise, surprise:rolleyes:), but it doesn't seem like I missed much in the first.

Gotta love the passion, desire, and character that the Red Wings are showing us. They have 15 Cup winners on their team.....and they want more.

It was nice to see Modano finally get into a game.

First of all-I want to give full marks to the Red Wings-they have been the better team for the last three games and we deserved to lose each and every one-we have only ourselves to blame. They worked their butts off and we didn't.

Secondly-
On behalf of all Sharks fans, I would like to thank Patrick Marleau for proving JR RIGHT ON THE MONEY!. You played with no heart, no passion and no desire (though on this night, the other 18 players were culpable as well). You had a glorious chance to silence him and the rest of the critics-all you did was show that the accusations have water (though, again, your teammates can be accused of the same things tonight).

I am not angry or upset. I am embarrassed-we showed the world that we are weak and have no heart. In fact, we may have even showed that we as a team are gutless. A part of me wants us to lose-just so that we don't get annihilated by the Canucks, as at the rate we are playing, we won't have anything left to play them or whoever wins the east, if we ever get that far.

(rant over)

On a more positive note-looks like the Yotes have one more year

Cuesta did you see the press conference after the game? McLellan was pretty upset. "they way we skated we were lucky to be in the game at all in the third period" or something along those lines.

The ref's did miss that "Too many men" call:eek: But hey...;)

And Surely you called it dude

Go Wings...;)

How is that a positive note? That city just wasted another $25 million to rent the team for another year (they've already paid the NHL $25 million a little while ago to cover losses from previous years). This team is dead in the water, and they're only delaying the inevitable.

Here's a couple of quotes from members of a hockey forum who were watching a live feed of last night's city council meeting/vote:

Listening to this audio feed, I find it completely fascinating that this city council won't spend $1million of taxpayer money to help set up reservation land for the native tribes in Glendale, but they'll drop $25million of taxpayer money to keep a friggin' hockey team in town that no one cares about.

Doesn't this speak to exactly how people view First Nations people? Disgusting.
Now, further listening to what these councillors are saying, this makes even less sense. It sounds like the city infrastructure needs this money a heck of a lot more than the NHL does.

A courthouse construction project that has been mothballed until 2017 because of a lack of funding?? Isn't this a state where a judge was shot to death not 6 months ago? In light of this incident, wouldn't you think that providing a secure facility for their justice department would be priority #1?

Construction of a library has been mothballed until 2017 because of a lack of funding? Aren't literacy rates in the US dropping pretty quickly? Doesn't a library make more sense in terms of spending public funds, instead of lining billionaire's pockets to keep a pro team in town that literally NOBODY except for those billionaire's care about?

And they won't give their First Nations people a lousy $1million to help set up a reservation???

The most likely scenario now is that the Thrashers move to Winnipeg and the Coyotes move to Quebec City.......just not right now.

I don't think they missed anything. I think that they got off the ice just in time, and the puck wasn't in the vicinity of the player getting off the ice. If the puck would have hit him as he was getting off the ice, then yeah, I could have seen that call made. But to me it was just borderline safe.

And Surely you called it dude

:D

It's funny, I used to hate the Wings when they were in the same division as the Leafs.....but now I can't help but cheer for them. It's interesting how a conference shift can dry up a rivalry.

I'd be hiding my face if I were a sharks fan right now. Pretty embarrassing. Especially considering they had a 3-1 lead in game 5 at home and still couldn't finish the wings off.

Marleau won't be available for game 7 - he'll be on his way to Oz.

:p little photoshop fun first thing in the morning.

Yes I saw-I almost felt that we should have lost 9-0. It almost would have been better.
BTW-your picture is perfect-though after last night I think it should be the whole team...

@Surely-
While I agree that the city is wasting its money, I am just glad that we have a solution for the next year. We may not like or agree with it, we at least finally have some closure.

It's not really closure though.....this thing is just going to continue to drag out. The NHL still owns the team, and that isn't closure. This deal doesn't keep the team in Glendale for more than a year, which means it still leaves everything up in the air.

I heard a hockey journalist/blogger from Phoenix being interviewed today on either the FAN590 or TSN radio. It was interesting to hear the views of someone who hasn't really come to terms with the reality of the situation. He was using the "we're just getting started" and "the fan base is starting to build" arguments. This team has been there for 15 years, the fan base building should have already occurred. He was also trying to use the "now that we have a winner here, the fans will come" argument. This team has made the playoffs for the past two seasons, and the fans still aren't really coming. Yesterday, a radio host made a good point: if you want to keep your team, then you have to start showing up to games in October, not in February or March.

Remember this guy?

Yeah, he scored a hat trick today to eliminate Team USA from the Worlds. An NHL comeback for Jagr, perhaps?

had no idea there was an NHL thread here, sweet.

...... go bruins!

Great........just what we need, another Bruins fan.

;)

So stoked for game 7 tonight....... I can't even imagine the amount of pressure that the Sharks must be feeling tonight. Or maybe they don't feel it, some of them don't seem too invested in the playoffs......
