You're telling me. Cooke KO's Savard for his career and gets NOTHING.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5ggHK-FDRY

There's the Paille hit on Sawada which was similiar, but less severe (as far as the injury caused anyways). He got 4 games. In that respect, it seems consistent.

It's just weird - stuff they're suspending people for used to be highlights of Don Cherry videos and generally considered OK. The theme was keep your head up and if you didn't, bad on you. The line is blurred between head hunting, late hits and finishing your checks. I'd hate to be a youth coach these days.

Don is stuck in the Original Six days.

Everyone had talent, and did not need to go out to intentionally injure another player.

This 4th line thug would never have even made the league then.

At least Eddie was "Entertaining", and not out to end a player's career.

This just gets more entertaining. Vancouver really is Montreal west.

Milan Lucic has been the man of the hour throughout the Stanley Cup playoffs, as he hails from Vancouver and plays for the Bruins. He had plenty of family in attendance for the first two games of the series at Rogers Arena, but when asked Tuesday to address the rowdiness of Boston fans, noted that his family had a tough time in Vancouver.

A Vancouver reporter asked Lucic about the way Boston fans treat out-of-towners, saying that Vancouver natives had phoned his station saying they were verbally abused, among other things, by Bostonians after Game 3.

“It’s funny they say that,” a suddenly fired-up Lucic began, “because I remember after Game 1, people in Vancouver throwing popcorn and peanuts at my grandparents. That’s almost as low as it gets as that goes. They’re my grandparents. They’re in their sixties. If their is anyone you should show respect to, it’s them.

“Also, my uncle and his uncle, [fans] were pouring beers on their seats in Vancouver. There’s no difference between the two cities. I said it before the series started: they’re two really passionate [fanbases], they’re really into their teams, and there’s nothing more that Boston fans want than for us to win and there’s nothing more than Vancouver wants than for their team to win.”

The Vancouver fans called up to whine about verbal abuse? What the **** did they think, they were going to play the Florida Panthers? They should expect to take verbal abuse wearing Canucks jerseys to the Boston Garden in the STANLEY CUP FINALS.

Now the Vancouver throwing popcorn and beer at Lucic's grandparents and uncles is just classless. So far no reports of that in Boston.. just good old fashioned trash talking. I've been to Bruins-Habs games and never seen anyone from Boston throwing food and beer. And this is the most heated rivalry in the game... way more Montreal fans come down to those games than there were Vancouver fans in town last night.

It's REALLY hard to make Bruins fans hate someone more than the Habs, but Vancouver is doing it.

Anyone who even mentioned that being "interference" should be fired from their job immediately because it proves they DON'T KNOW **** ABOUT THE SPORT.

Interference is when a player INTERFERES (checks, impedes, etc) a player WHO DOESN'T HAVE THE PUCK. Sedin had the ****ing puck. That's a textbook check. There's no rule saying goalies can't check anyone. It's no different than if a defenseman checked a guy with the puck going towards the goal. If he DIDN'T have the puck, then it could be classified as interference (if Sedin wasn't in the blue), but he did, so its a moot point. Anyone who argues otherwise should get off the bandwagon because they don't know **** about hockey.

No, you misunderstand. They were saying that Sedin should have been given a goaltender interference penalty. Idiots. They really don't know what the **** they're talking about. Just another example of them letting their emotions and bias get the better of them.

Agree. My problem with this suspension is the general inconsistency of discipline. There just seems to be no rhyme or reason. Punishment based on severity of inujury? Marquee player? Who knows?

Agreed. Hopefully this is a new dawn for discipline in the NHL. I hope that the new discipline department can start being more consistent.

If Rome would have been given 1 game, it would have been consistent with what has been going on in the past few years.

I guess Canucks fans are just more passionate than Bruins fans.;)

Please feel free to continue bashing Vancouver and Montreal fans.:D

Either way. There's no interference either way on that play. Even mentioning it as asinine. The announcers on verses are complete ****tards.

Agreed. It's a step in the right direction. And on the biggest stage, it had to happen.

replace passionate with classless and you have vancouver fans. even subban wouldn't stoop so low as to bite an opposing player. and he dives more than the vancouver synchronized diving twins.

im just waiting for the vancouver fans to start rioting and flipping over cars. that would be the icing on the montreal west cake.

Speaking of stooping low...

Some Vancouver fans are classless, yes. Just as some fans of other teams are. Honestly, if I was a Bruins fan, and I do like them, I certainly wouldn't feel justified to call another team dirty, cheap, whatever.

People are agreeing with you that Rome hit wasn't good. You just gotta simmer down a bit.

0.02.

This made me chuckle.

Labarbera #1 in Phoenix for the time being? Why would a playoff team do that to themselves? Hope you sign the regular season Bryzgalov and not the playoff Bryzgalov. :D

I'll take what ever I can get at this point:D:cool:

Wow - so many posts to comment on and so little time!!! I'll pick a few and spare you guys

Mooney: Regarding my noticing the Versus announcers being biased......when Thomas made that hit on Sedin, a couple of them were calling for a goaltender interference penalty. That's ridiculous.

When I listened to the game I thought I heard them say this should be a penalty on Thomas not Sadin. He was coming hard to the net, the puck was with him, and he entered the crease. I'll have to go back an listen at some point but it's done now anyway and I don't think either side deserved a penalty there.

I like this approach. Let the punishment fit the crime.

I say crime to distinguish this injury from one that was part of a play for the puck.

Also, I thought that the player's past history made a difference. I swear I read that he had been suspended ~4 times during this season and possibly even once in the playoffs but I cannot find the article and don't really have time to search.

Yeah, who cares at this point. Don't waste any extra time listening to those 'tards.;) On to game 4.

I don't think either side deserved a penalty either.

Doesn't appear he's had any suspensions before:

It's only his second season in the NHL.

Surely
I think we might finally have a goalie.;):D

Yeah, I saw that.....I knew it would make you :D

Does he know that Philly can get cold? I mean, I know it doesn't get as cold as Winnipeg, but still, it does get cold there.......

Hopefully he works out for you, but he doesn't strike me as a loyal-to-the-team kind of guy (or a smart guy, for that matter) after he made his Winnipeg comments.

I like how the Bruins are playing ... nice goal

I hope the Horton hit sways things Boston's way ... go Bruins

and I hope the Sedin twins cry all summer over losing the Stanley Cup.

4-0 Bs ... sweet

Your boyz will have to dump a lot of salary to get it done.

http://www.capgeek.com/charts_index.php

I'm going to guess that Bryz will demand at least $6 million, and maybe closer to $7 million (he was paid $4.25 million last season), and Carter is only a $5.272 hit.

Since you guyz only have $430,845 in cap space for next year, you may have to trade Carter, not be able to sign Leino (due to lack of cap space) and may have to trade someone else just to make room for the guy who thinks there's nothing to do in Winnipeg.;)

See: http://www.capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=24&salary_cap_mil=59&salary_cap_thou=4

Maybe "Bob" would be a good fit in Winnipeg...:D He would feel right at home in cold weather
