Happy about Reimer's deal?

Very happy. Three years, $1.8 million is a really good deal for both sides. From what I've read, he's a really good guy too.

He played well for Team Canada at the Worlds, unfortunately we didn't win (he wasn't playing in the later round games). I'm stoked for Optimus Reim.:D

BTW, I got my haircut today by this cute blonde girl. We were chatting, and she told me she was from NorCal, and I told her I was from Toronto. "Oh, are you a Maple Leafs fan?" We then talked hockey for the next 20 minutes. She used to be a Sharks fan but now she's a Kings fan. She knows more about hockey than some of my buddies that I talk hockey with. If I wasn't married, I totally would have asked her out.:p

Oh, and she hates the Canucks.:D

I have been catching a lot of flack from my west coast friends, that play hockey, about how Rome shouldn't have been suspended.

After watching the video there are a number of things that caused the whole situation.
Horton was passing to his strong side, this causes the skater to curl away from the pass, transfer of energy. Once the pass was complete his shoulders were still square to the boards. As he began to start moving and squaring his shoulders toward the net, Rome had stopped and shifted his motion from moving towards his net to a lateral path along the blue line.
Even if Horton was able to to look down ice Rome was coming from the side.
Rome followed through with the check with his skates about 6 inches off the ice.
IMO between the lateral movement, Rome skates leaving the ice (maybe not initially but in the follow through) and the injury the NHL had to make a statement after the biting incident, the classless player introduction and the general tone of game 3.
I don't think it's a huge loss for the Canucks.

Commentators have man crushes on the Canucks, except for milbury.

Reimer is a diamond in the rough ... could be the best player Toronto has seen since Wendel Clark ... I am thrilled we have signed him to that deal.

And the best part is that it barely affects our salary cap. Hopefully they can sign Giguere to a small time contract as well, so he can be Reimer's mentor. Apparently, they worked very well together.

I agree ... Giguere would be wise to stay ... he doesn't want to miss out on another Stanley Cup Ring :D

First-my kings fan co-worker is gonna crack up-wonder who she was rooting for in rd 1?
I know we call chicks who hang out with hockey players "puck bunnies", but what do we call chicks who like hockey and actually understand the game and are also cute?

I say dream woman !

She would have been rooting for the Kings.....she told me that she no longer likes the Sharks. She's not a fan of the current nucleus.

I was really impressed. She was talking about specific players, specifics on injuries, about one of the Kings' prospects, hell even about the Brian Murray.

She's a bit of a puck bunny as well. She told me that she's hung out at some of the bars in Hermosa/Redondo Beach where some of the Kings live (their practice facility is around there). She even knew what Gretzky's favorite restaurant in the area is (Casa Vega), and told me he would be there when the Coyotes were in town (obviously, not this past season or two).

She's my new regular hairstylist, er, barber.:p

There's a place called "Stout" in San Diego that is a big hockey place and Irish pub. I tried to get in there on Saturday to watch the game but it was packed -- mostly with blue jerseys.

I went back Wednesday night at about 1am and there were two barmen there and the place was empty. My friends and I piled in -- I hadn't seen the results of the game yet.

Under my "business casual" collar shirt I was wearing a black bruins T which I proceeded to show them not noticing until that point the NHL gear on the walls was all Vancouver and one of the bartenders was wearing a Canucks jersey. They weren't entirely impressed but did honor my request to not know the results -- I suspect it is because they lost.

I managed to catch the game on my slingbox a little that night before I "fell asleep" and the next morning.

I'm a bit sick of the whining coming from the Canucks coach and players. They really have resulted to name calling, hair pulling, and biting. Rome has/wants to apologize to Horton for what it is worth. And, you know what, the guy is showing some class. He should see if he can lend some to the rest of the team.

Hoping for big things tonight.

^^^^^^wah wah wah

Unfortunately for you, the NHL doesn't work that way anymore. You need the cap room, sucka.:p

Just in case anyone missed it, check out this segment from last night's Daily Show about Canada. The whole thing is great, but my favorite part starts at around 2:40. Go Leafs go, ya hosers!

Good game. Luongo needed that shutout. I'm sure the B's and B's fans are really happy that Lapierre scored the winner.:p

Unfortunately, my mother ruined the game for me......I PVRed the game so I could go to the gym and watch it when I got home (it started at 5pm PST). My Moms knew this (I spoke with her on the way to the gym). While I was making dinner, I called her on FaceTime so she could see my boy. First thing she says: "No score yet, eh." This was ay 7:20pm PST, which meant that I knew how the entire game went until the last 10-ish minutes. "Ah, man. Why'd you say that?" She felt bad, but I told her not to worry about it.

I watched most of it, but couldn't help jumping ahead a lot because I knew no one would score. At least it kept me from having to listen to the NBC "announcers". Lapierre scored a couple of minutes after the point she told me there was no score.

Bah. Ah well, at least I don't feel as bad as Bruins fans feel after that game.:D

That was a great game and it could of easily have gone both ways.

Vancouver is going to have one heck of a game coming up. I have a feeling it's going to come back to Vancouver for a game seven. But it would be nice to close it out in Boston.

It was a good game and it isn't like Boston didn't have their opportunities. I thought the refs were mostly reasonable. Luongo must have something going on in Van allowing him to find inspiration (there are probably hookers in Boston too) ;) -- or maybe that is the problem. Who knows...

Anyway - guess we have to play 7.

^^^^Gotta get through game 6 first. ;)

Just when you thought you couldn't dislike Luongo any more, this happens:

After their 1-0 victory in Game 5, Luongo breezily noted that Max Lapierre’s game winner against Bruins’ netminder Tim Thomas would have been “an easy save for me.”

When it was pointed out on Sunday that this wasn’t the classiest quote ever to emerge from a locker room, Luongo had a heartfelt explanation.

“I have been pumping (Thomas’) tires ever since the series started. I haven’t heard one nice thing he had to say about me. That’s the way it is.”

That’s the way it is. Tim Thomas has not said enough nice things about Roberto Luongo. Not even an ‘I like your haircut,’ or ‘That’s a really nice car you’re driving. How much did you pay for it? Wow. What a steal!’

And that hurts Luongo.

Thomas wasn’t talking about it yesterday. Bruins’ coach Claude Julien was doing his Claude Julien thing — pretending not to care, and then unwittingly revealing that he cares about little else.

“The guy who made those comments, I’m not sure how many goals he let in.”

Yes, he is. It’s 14.

He's making it really difficult for me to cheer against the Bruins.

...really man? How is anyone not absolutely baffled at the unnecessary attention Luo's comment is getting? He said nothing wrong, nothing disrespectful. Practically part of the SAME sentence he complements Thomas by saying "he might make some saves that I won't". That article really comes off as childish, just needlessly stirring the pot.

EDIT: hahah, and naturally the article is from the toronto star.
