game seven. hell yeah. lets do it boys. bring the cup back to boston.

Dude
Strange thing happen to me last night. I was just as nervous watching your boyz in game six as I was watching my boyz last year in game six.:D Scary...
Go Bruin's...;)

Well, I survived

It as a very odd night at the Garden... weird vibe is the only way I can think to describe it. It's very clear that as the ticket prices go up the fan-base changes. Around us we only recognized 4-5 other season ticket holders. I think a number of them sold because the money was so good. I heard a stat that 35% of the aftermarket tickets went to Canucks fans (Surely, crank up that search machine of yours). There were definitely a lot of them there and I'm guessing it's not a great flight back today.

Milt Schimit was the honorary captain.

Lots of funny signs (pics included) around the building -- especially for Surely. Steve Nash was in the section next to us. We recognized him sort of accidentally. Then Gretzky came into the area where the Zamboni comes out -- which was next to Nash. Nash gets Greztky a beer and hops the barrier and they chat for a while. With Gretzky so close the people in front of us lost focus on the game and were snapping mad pics of him.

Behind us 2 rows were the kids of some of the players and a couple of wives. Haven't figured out who yet. The Go Canucks Go chant at slightly below dog frequencies was getting to me... the guy next to me lost his **** and said "shut those ****ing kids up" (yes, we have idiots here too).

Fans were unrelenting on Luongo. The roof nearly came off the place after the first goal. I think people were stunned with so many in a row, the place was nuts, and my wife said "I bet the Canucks would like this period to end" -- that was with ~6 mins left -- ouch.

All-in-all, I'm very happy that we went... quite an experience.

Robo - welcome aboard, even if it is temporary. At this point in the season it does come down to who you hate less. ;)

Go Bruins!

PS. I'd like the thank AT&T for completely ****ing sucking. It was essentially impossible to get any data connection for more than about 5 seconds. Texts would come in bursts of 5 (incoming) and most of the outgoing never made it -- especially if you had a pic attached. That was a guaranteed fail.

I can only imagine. I could hear the chants clearly on the TV in the bars... LUUUONNNNNGO LUUUONNNNNGO.

I bet the roof came off when they showed Horty on the big screen too.

Yep. I have the Horton part on video that I'll post at some point. I had to watch it on the screen even though he was about 15 feet from us. People flood that area and it's tough to see.

Great pics Mooney! Glad you had a good time. Too bad it was such a boring game.;)

I love that video of Marty Turco smirking at Pierre behind the glass :D

Yeah, that was awesome. He just makes these guesses as to what happened on plays and he's usually wrong. If he was up in the media box, he probably would be able to see what's going on better. Because he's down between the benches, he has to guess.

Last night he said that Kesler fooled the refs when he was tripped up and the Bruins got a penalty. The replay clearly showed that the Bruins player got his stick tangled in Kesler's legs, which tripped him (tripping was the call, and it was the right call). McGuire was so adamant that Kesler took a dive. Even when the replay showed that he wasn't diving, McGuire didn't backtrack. He just didn't say anything, so the casual American viewer would still think that Kesler (who is an American, and should be built up in the US) took a dive. Douche. It almost seems that sometimes the guys in the booth don't know what to do with McGuire, and secretly hope he gets hit in the face with a puck.:p

I appreciate the idea of a guy down on the glass but it's gotta be done right if even done at all. Putting a guy down there seems to be an effort to make the game more digestible for the casual viewer. We don't need "sideline" reporters like football. Especially not guys like Pierre.

Back in the studio we love Jonesy. My wife says he looks like the eagle from the muppets. :p But he talks about the game in a way that teaches and helps you understand. Milbury is grumpy, Keenan is pompous and Roenick is a bit of a lab monkey.

I think Keenan said one night how "he'd never been swept as a coach". Being a Pens fan I was pretty sure he was swept when he coached the Hawks in 92 in that final. :p

^^^^Yeah, Jones is the only one that actually should be there.

I think the game is too fast to have an analyst be effective/accurate between the benches.

Luongo will be starting game 7........on a very short leash.

I just heard a crazy stat: In this 6 game series, the Canucks have only held the lead for a total of 32 minutes. Unreal.

My wife was enroute to Boston while game 5 was going on, and the flight attendants began to call forward to get an update on the Bruins score - obviously most of the passengers kept asking about it. So my wife makes a small joke to the Captain - "Do you think they're talking about UCLA?"

He chuckles and says, "Let's find out." So he picks up the PA and proceeds to tell the passengers that he's more than happy to keep them updated with UCLA sports scores - it'll just take him a minute to retrieve them.

Apparently the whole airplane erupted in jeers. I told my wife that she needs to be more careful - Bostonians are friggin' hard core, and would probably take the whole damned plane down if you got them riled up enough! :)

The other stat was Luongo's play at home vs. at the Garden
At home he has 2 shutouts and a .67 GAA and an SP in the 94% range
At the Garden he's up around 8 GAA and a SP in the 70% range
(Those are from memory)

If the Canucks win, I can totally see them giving the Conn Smythe to Thomas. Think about it, who from Vancouver has really made a statement? Kesler was on his way before he got tweaked. I dunno, just thinking out loud. :)

That's the word on the street. Thomas gets it no matter who wins.

That could be right with the late goals and OT...

That's right. I might start spraying my 3 oz of shaving cream everywhere! ;)

Trying to be as unbiased as possible -- let's hope. Luongo cannot be the guy having been pulled twice and no one else has really stood out.

No chance.. as brilliant as he was in his good games, he was shelled badly in the others. Thomas has been consistent throughout.

Oh, it is right. They said it on HockeyCentral @ noon.

Biased or unbiased, he'll get the Conn Smyth.

It wouldn't be the first time that the losing team's goalie (if the B's lose) was awarded the CS. Glenn Hall, Roger Crozier, Ron Hextall, and J.S. Guigere all won it when their teams lost in the finals.

Oh - well, of course! Did Milbury say it? ;)

You're right - it's a lot easier to justify for the winning team so let's just stick with that plan!!

No, no, no. Not the crappy HockeyCentral show. The real, original HockeyCentral @ Noon show on the FAN590. It's an hour-long, daily show that's on the radio and television at noon M-F. They also have a HockeyCentral show in the evenings with the same analysts.

Versus copied the name and, for some reason, continued to use it.

Mason Raymond out 3-4 months with fractured vertebrae. No penalty was assessed so how does the league handle this one? The crime and punishment in the NHL is jacked up. Get rid of the instigator rule and let the players police themselves.

penalty for what? the contact started as a battle for the puck, they got tangled up, and hit the boards awkwardly. i watched the replay a bunch of times and i fail to see any penalty on that play. it's not like boychuck matt cooke'd him.

there's nothing for the league to handle here. a guy got hurt in a hockey play. it wasn't malicious head hunting like rome.
