I kindly request that no one ask me why we signed Colin White or why he got a modified NTC, because I have no idea why we signed Colin White or why we gave him a modified NTC.

On Weber-
My theory is that Nashville genuinely wants to give him top dollar over a long-term deal. I wonder if the reason they can't (or won't) is because if they did, they won't be able to attract more talent since they wouldn't be able to afford it.

just my two pucks...

Surely
I just got the word I'll be working HBO series this fall:cool: Boy,do I love my freak'n job...;):D

That's probably close to the right answer.

I think I heard somewhere that they are concerned about signing him to a large & long term deal because of what they expect the next CBA to look like. I think that might be a bit of a stretch....

That's awesome. Who are the teams this season?

The Vancouver Canucks have signed veteran forwards Owen Nolan and Todd Fedoruk to professional tryout contracts.

Of course, that's why they didn't win the Cup! No Owen Nolan!:p:rolleyes:

I can't believe this guy is still kicking around.....

Don't knock my boy Buster(his nickname in SJ). He loves the game and he can definitely still hack it-he may not have the speed but he's got the heart and the passion.

I wish him all the best

and yes robo please tell us the teams

(I fear its the Winter classic teams again, which means we will get to see what Sean Avery really says and also see his FABULOUS wardrobe closet.)

Buster?

Just when I was starting to like the guy, he goes and does something dumb:
Avery arrested and jailed for battery of a police officer. What, does he think he's in the NFL or something?

how could you possibly like that guy? i can't wait until shawn thornton pummels his face in to the ice. :D that guy belongs in figure skating, not ice hockey.

Without getting into an off-topic PRSI debate, I have a lot of respect for him for what he did in support of getting marriage equality passed in NY state.

fair enough in that respect.

i just really don't like the guy as a hockey player.

No idea where Nolan got the name-

based on what i read, Avery just shoved a cop to get back into his place after they had received multiple calls about noise. He came back out and was cooperative but was still booked.

I doubt much will come of it-

So where were you all 23 yrs ago today?

I was 1yrs old, so I have no freaking idea!!

I do know this-i wouldn't be asking this question on this topic today if August 9th, 1988 had just been an ordinary August day.

I was 12 years old, and at summer camp. When the news started going around, people were in utter shock. Even though most of the camp was Leafs fans (the camp is north of Toronto), people were sad to see him leave Canada. He was my favorite player as a kid.

I got a wicked Gretzky Kings home jersey, and wore it all the time. I wish I knew where it was.....I would guess it's in a box in storage somewhere.

Oh cool.........I found a scanned photo:

Sad news to share

maybe now the league will start to take a serious look at what the NFL has started doing- taking a serious and hard look at the trauma of head injuries and begin to hold teams and medical staff accountable, along with changes to how and when players return to action

One life cut short because of head trauma is a tragedy, two is unacceptable and demands action.

That's sad.

It doesn't appear that they've stated the cause of death yet though. If it is due to repetitive head trauma, the NHL definitely needs to take concussions more seriously.

They need to take concussions more seriously anyways.

"Mornings have been tough. When I get up in the morning I'm a little foggy. Sometimes looking over the ball it's a little blurry. I still get a little bit of dots. As the day wears on I get pretty good. The hot sun is pretty tough. I try to stay in the shade and stuff like that and pop the odd Advil here and there. It seems to be OK as long as I'm riding (a cart)."

sad to say that sounds like a player who should seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY look at retirement. If he still has issues this many months later, it may be in his best interest to do so. Hell, Sid hasn't played in nearly 9 months and now it sounds like it could be even more....
