Sorry....I watched it but forgot to reply! Very cool, thanks for posting it.

Bye bye Islanders? Soon to be the Quebec Islanders? Or would it be more fitting for them to go from being NY's second team to becomimg Toronto's second team? They can build an arena on Toronto Island so they could keep their name......

A sad state of affairs on Long Island. Even though I'm a Rangers fan, my first NHL game was at the Nassau Coliseum. And, even though it's been a while since they've been a contender (a LONG while), it would still be a huge loss to the NY sports world if he decided to move them. I really, really hope it doesn't come to that.

Don't think so, unless Toronto waves the 50-mile radius rule. ;)

That's actually not a real rule.

Hey, I voted yes even though my property taxes are the equivalent of anal rape and I hate hockey.

Did you vote yes for TDD?:p

I don't either, but it's really not looking very good. They were talking about it this morning on the FAN590 (a Toronto sports radio station), and the media guy that was on the phone from NY was saying that he found it strange that Wang didn't get some of the old Islanders greats to try to persuade voters to vote yes. I would guess that it may have made a bit of a difference if people like Bossy, Potvin, Trottier, Smith, and Yashin (;):p) were involved. That organization is a mess.

Maybe Trottier...but the problem is that the taxes are so high, as RDowns has pointed out, on the Island that anything put to a vote like this is probably going to get shot down. Add in a random vote in the middle of the summer, and the results are destined to be bad. If they have the vote in the middle of an Islander playoff run, the results may have been different. I'm just not sure the team has that long to fix things.

Islanders playoff run? lolz :p

Yeah, I've heard about the high taxes in that area. Unfortunately for the Isles, sometimes enough is enough.

^^^Agreed.

Aww, eventually they have to make the playoffs. Don't they? ;)

I wonder what the chances are of them moving to Brooklyn and playing in the arena the Nets will play in?

For some reason, I think I recall them talking about that as a possibility a few months ago on HockeyCentral@noon. Who knows wth Wang will do.

Hopefully the Islanders can stay. What would NY do without the red headed stepchild sports team?

Realistically though, if they want to move another team to Canada, move one from below the Mason-Dixon line... *COUGH*phoenix*COUGH*

who the **** thought hockey in the DESERT was a good idea anyways?

Bettman the loser did ... we'll take both NYI and PHO up here in Canada thanks

Still got the Mets...;)

Kind of plus I want the jobs to stay here and one of the richest counties in America should have it's own arena. Shouldn't have to go into NYC for all events.

I agree wholeheartedly...:cool::)

I'm actually hoping to see the B's play there on 12/28. Probably good ticket prices :)

Listening to PrimeTime Sports.......they're talking about this.

Here's the deal with the new arena in Brooklyn: it has ice-making capabilities, but it can only seat 13,000 for hockey.

I think we can all agree that the Islanders will move-I think the better question is will Quebec still be available and if it not, will Jimmy Basile or someone try again and see if he can get things going in Hamilton, or has he burned enough bridges that even if he plays by the rules he won't get what he wants.

On a related note-
whats the over/under for Weber? I say he could easily get 7-9 mill.

OK, more a gentleman's agreement.

In any event, Toronto will be black-balling any bid to cut into their turf.

They will be pressing all the owners that have to vote for the move.

Gentlemen? Who?:confused::p

Anyway, that's possibly more accurate. However, I could see a situation in which the Leafs and the Sabres receive some sort of giant payment to allow another team to reside in Toronto or Hamilton. The Leafs will always be #1 over another NHL team in the area.

I heard Bill Daly say in an interview that Balsille could still be considered as a potential owner......as long as he plays nice and doesn't try to steal a team through the media and fans like he did last time. But by the way RIM is looking, will Balsille still want to spend his money on a team?

I say Weber gets $7.5 million. :p

care to give me some lottery numbers, since you are so good at guessing numbers???
I have to say Nashville's offer is frankly insulting for a player of his caliber and stature. 4.75 for your franchise player/captain? That doesnt say much about how much you care about him.

This makes me happy:

I should see if the NHL is looking for a new arbitrator! :p

Yeah, I really don't understand where Nashville is coming from with their offer. I find it hard to imagine that Weber isn't insulted by their assessment of his value. Unless there's something else going on that we don't know, I don't see him being a Pred after this season.

Looks like I started this one in September. If you guys want me to start the new one now, I'm cool with that (or one of you can start it, I don't own it :)).

I think we elected you. Besides, if I have to do it the title would probably be Bruins related and I know you are more impartial than I am...

Aw, shucks. :D

Well, perhaps I'll start it in the next couple of days. I guess we're talking about stuff for the upcoming season anyway, right?
