Thanks. I must be thinking of the entry point in the NHL, in his day. :)

It's crazy to compare how much they used to make to how much they make now.

The article also says that he was making $8,000 with the Leafs prior to 1955, and then they cut his salary in half for the 55-56 season because he got injured the season before. Classy.

And.....Stamkos is staying in TB.....he signed a 5 year deal.

Congrats to Chris Osgoode on one hell of a career with the Red Wings.

Good.. he would have looked kind of awkward in a bolts jersey on NHL 12 if he signed with a different team. And I'm glad he didn't end up in Philly or Toronto :p

now where the **** is the UPS guy? i'm gonna slap that bitch, been waiting for my stanley cup blu-ray all day. :D;)

While I applaud Stevie Y for not throwing the piggy bank at Stamkos, am I the only one who thinks that this is a bargin? I mean I thought he could get 8 or 9 mill, possibly more if Philly or the Rangers got involved. Nevertheless, the way he is going, he will get that money eventually. I also think that this also sets the stage for what someone like Drew Doughty will get.

With Osgood retired, how many chances will he need to get in? I think we can all agree that 3 rings, 400 plus wins and 2 jennings "should" be enough to get in at some point( though with this committee, who knows what makes someone worthy)

I like it. I really like simple, minimalistic logos.

I especially like the logo with the two hockey sticks.

Hopefully they'll eventually use the old logo as a throwback jersey.

If you look at the second photo in this gallery, you'll see the inspiration for the logo.

does anyone know what the sweaters will look like?

And yes it looks like Ovie has been having too much fun

^^I've only seen these logos so far.....I haven't seen the uniforms yet.

I can picture a few different styles in my head....it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

Anyone lose a tire? I think Ovechkin might have it hidden in his shirt:

Too bad the guy doesnt take better care of himself, because he would be areal good hockey player  Seriously though, if he dedicated himself to the gym, how much better could he get?

I think the Stamkos deal is a great deal for the Lightning. Im sure this can put all the Leaf offers to rest now lol.

Anyone hear that Charles Wang wants to bring the ghosts of Alexi Yashin o wherever the new location is??

Guess some men never learn

on a completely unrelated note, I watched the movie "Fair Game" last night. The following is a rough transcript of the interaction between the key figure in the film, Valerie Plame and another man that occurred in the first few minutes

Man-"You may be the only person from Toronto who isn't a hockey fan."

Valerie-"Oh I am a hockey fan but I am from Vancouver so I root for the Canucks.Between you and me, the Maple Leafs suck-that guy Mark Bell they signed is a liability-on AND off the ice"

Can you say "PhotoShop"...:D:rolleyes:

It actually isn't photoshopped. They were talking about this on PrimeTime Sports, and I read about it on various blogs. No one suggested it was shopped.

Surely
He's the real reason the Flyers traded Richards and Carter;):D

They are adults are they c'mon.:D

This was well-known. I was actually pretty surprised that Richards was traded to LA. It's not like there's anywhere to party out here.....;)

Sure, they are adults. But they are paid millions of dollars to play a game. The least they could do is have respect for their team and make sure that they are always in top form. I would guess that the partying was affecting their on-ice performance. Even if it affected their performance during practice, that's bad enough. They want to binge drink? Wait until the off-season.

Saw this link on CNN today. Does the NHL have a deal with CNN or something? That's two NHL-related articles in the past week.

Surely - I thought you would like this since Thornton is evidently a Toronto boy.

A few more weeks and I'll be neighbors with him.

Sorry....I watched it but forgot to reply! Very cool, thanks for posting it.

Bye bye Islanders? Soon to be the Quebec Islanders? Or would it be more fitting for them to go from being NY's second team to becomimg Toronto's second team? They can build an arena on Toronto Island so they could keep their name......

Hey, I voted yes even though my property taxes are the equivalent of anal rape and I hate hockey.
