it's not over until every single game is finished on the last day of the league

best case in point: Bundesliga 2000/2001 where schalke fans already celebrated after their game finished (additionally it was their last game in their old stadium), only to have bayern münchen score the winning goal in their last game in typical overtime fashion (a 94th minute freekick) and snatch away the title
last year ? also the last game decided the bundesliga

and this season it migth as well become close again: dortmund was already 13 points away and now ? 7 points

Problem I foresee is scoring. We've only one striker at our club & Vela is on loan. He is a natural goal scorer. Bentdner & Chamak aren't worth the paper they're written on. Arashavin is hit & miss. Walcott is always injured & Nasri has lost confidence.

It's typical Arsenal falling at the last hurdle. We claim the league is still alive having drawn our last 3 games. It's getting a little tiresom being an Arsenal fan. I love the club dearly & want the best for them. I can't help but feel a dive into the transfer market for an established player up top & at the back will do wonders for us next season.

Well, that is if Fabregas hasn't left us & then we're in a sorry state because we aren't half the team when we're playing without him. Estimates of around £45m for him? If we don't spend some of that, we are screwed.

Liverpool are on the up. Sunday is tough but I think we'll edge it. Apologies for my prediction but we're at home, practically full strength & we can string passes together better than most teams in the world. Like I said, can't stick em in the back of the net.

Amazing bit of business on Torres & Carrol. Carrol will be a kop legend. Proper striker. The next shearer if you ask me. If Newcastle manage to become a consistent team, he'll be heading north again. He'll do a Shearer. Win something with someone else & go back home to the club in his heart.

The noisy neighbors have the right to make a little noise tonight...;)

Some scuffling after the final whistle involving Ferdinand and (of course) Balotelli. Scholes had to go, straight red, and Man City played well while United were not at their best. Still, with City being so inconsistent this season their path to the FA cup trophy is still a rocky one.

RVP is a problem player, because he's excellent but always misses long sections of the season through injury. Arsenal need two starting quality strikers in addition to him.

As I said, Arsenal are better on paper and should win this. But Liverpool are fully capable of getting a result if they take their chances. Both teams really need the win, so hopefully we'll get an entertaining match.

3-1, then — so we're eighth tonight, two points off the play-off places with floundering Forest and a shakey looking Leeds above us.

It's on.

Well done Tigers...sounds like a playoff spot is very possible now!

I knew all that treble talk was a bit much, but I didn't think United would lay such a rotten egg in the FA Cup semis. No Rooney and no Chicharito means no killer instinct in front of the net; Berba was an embarrassment. Carrick reverted back to his mean, giving the ball to Yaya to trundle home the winner. The odds of Scholes hanging it up at the end of the season keep going down.

Gotta focus on winning the league at all costs. I've always felt beating Madrid or Barca would be too tall a task for this United squad, now we know for certain. Of course Schalke will have something to say first.

To be fair, Hart had an excellent game. Berbatov should have scored there though - I have to think Chicharito would have put those chances away...

It would take a pretty big collapse from United to lose the league since I just can't see Arsenal winning out. As for the CL, nobody ever had a chance against Barca, or even Real, in my opinion. Barcelona in particular are in legendary form. If they can beat Mourinho's Real (potentially five times), they should be able to brush aside anybody else.

EDIT: Real 1-1 Barca. Not a great game but that ought to wrap up the league for Barcelona eh? Messi scores goal No. 49 this season, albeit on a penalty. The Greasy One is also over 40 goals now too.

Correct. Back in 2004 we had our very own fever pitch in Scotland, Rangers 5 points behind with 4 games remaining took it to 2 points behind on the last day. Celtic, leading 1-0 at Motherwell lost 2 goals in injury time. The strategically placed helicopter carrying the trophy towards Fir Park had to do a u-turn.

And of course, Fever Pitch is based on real life events.

Got to hand it to Manchester City, and Ferguson did. For most of the game City pressed and worked as a team, but even if the Manchester United starting selection is ignored, it was clear for a long time that the midfield didn't have the energy and SAF let it slide. With regard to Berbatov, Ferguson's man management has been poor.

The tackling:

Mike Dean let a lot go in the first-half, most of the bad tackles happened to be from Manchester City. The Scholes' incident was similar to Evans and Holden; both players going into the tackle in the same manner and the one lucky enough not to get hit is sent off.

Re throwing the league, they've done it before.

Carroll's heading versus Arsenal's defence, interesting. Edit - pretty boring.

Cheers,
OW

A fairly unexceptional game with a crazy, crazy finish...

Both penalties were legit. Lucas went down very easily, I'm not going to defend him on that, but what the hell was Eboue doing? He pretty much left the ref no choice but to point to the spot. Dalglish and Wenger had a little tense exchange over the second penalty, but both managers can only blame their defenders.

Arsenal was the better team and had better chances to score but Liverpool defended pretty well and looked to be earning their 0-0 draw. Both teams gave the ball away too often in dangerous positions. Suarez and Carroll were somewhat quiet - Suarez's touch and decision-making was off today. Bendtner might have done better with his best chance when one on one with Reina - who, by the way, made a couple great saves.

They showed a shot of Ferguson in the crowd, he was wearing the same sour face he had on after the match yesterday...

Stoke v Man City in the FA Cup final...two teams I really don't care for.

MLS Update: Thierry Henry is now sporting a beard.

I can't complain about the ref he had a good game and all decisions including extra time were spot on.

We need a leader. A Viera-type player should've been marshaling every one's emotions/actions until the final whistle. Sagna>Eboue...he's too much liability. A winger's mindset rather than a defensive one.

Hopefully the picture is now crystal clear for Wenger. Some of these players will simply never be ready and there needs to be a clear out in summer. I personally don't see how Fabregas will stay after this season. I wouldn't if i'm being honest..unless i was assured of a reshuffle. No point doing everything to get your team ahead...only for your defenders to squander it time and time and time again.

Highlight of the season; we beat Barca at home...whoopdedoo. Distant memory now.

Then again its not like i didn't see this coming. I still stand by my original prediction a few months back. Utd will take the title Chelsea will leapfrog Arsenal to 2nd and they (Arsenal) will battle it out for 3rd/4th with Tottenham, City & Liverpool.

I should add that though Suarez's touch was off, he does bring a high work rate and he pulls defenders with him, giving Carroll more space to operate. It's definitely a promising partnership.

Still no goal for Torres...the end of the season can't come soon enough for him.

Here's an odd little stat – apparently, for the last nine consecutive seasons one of the teams involved in Bristol City's last game of the season has ended up being promoted that year

Picture 2.png

Just saying, like. :D

General Franco is still dead. The current board have just realised that the new owner will sack them all, so they are trying to hold on until the end of the season.

Situation in the SPL:
P GD PTS
1 Rangers 32 40 77
2 Celtic 31 48 76
3 Hearts 33 16 61

Rangers facing a difficult Dundee Utd tonight at Tannadice, then the Old Firm derby at Ibrox on Easter Sunday, which will be rather significant in deciding the season.

Well, I hope Berbatov really was unwell and it wasn't Ferguson being a tit - no invention. Another worry is the team looks shagged out.

Ref was poor for both sides.

So, Chelsea then...

Cheers,
OW

So, Man Utd still set to win the league - not by being the best team so much as the least crap team. So much dropping of points among the top four! With all due respect to Arsenal, they have been epic chokers this season. I can't help but feel for gunners fans...so many good performances undone by mistakes and late collapses.

3-3 is always an entertaining match for the neutral. It's really a bad result for both teams though, possibly a worse one for Spurs (since I think Man U have had the title for weeks), as they are in a very tight race for fourth with Man City and also face the possiblity of being leapfrogged by Liverpool and/or Everton. European qualification is in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, in Spain - nothing is happening (yet) in the most boring El Clasico ever. Maybe we'll at least get a sending off or something...

Torres Watch: Still hasn't scored for Chelsea (but the Blues are winning regularly now)
