Obviously everyone expected Dalglish to sign a deal, but it's good to have it wrapped up so that all parties can concentrate on football.

Liverpool are fortunate to have escaped from the Hicks & Gillette mess and this is a happy ending to a roller coaster season.

I was definitely a skeptic when his name was put forward after Benitez left, and before Hodgson was chosen. In the short term he's proven all of my doubts to have been unfounded. But the pressure has been off for Liverpool for months now. Every win this season is just gravy with little or no long-term significance.

Dalglish's next test will be to start the 2011-12 season even better than we ended this one. Supporters will be expecting a top four finish and preferably some silverware in the Europa League or the domestic cups (and that's a lot to ask for if you aren't Man U or Chelsea). The core of the team is fairly sound, but there will be 5 or 6 strong teams fighting for a top four spot again. Kenny's got his work cut out for him.

I saw that earlier.

I put forward the motion that it's bloody awful.

I thought the ghosted pattern at the bottom looked a bit odd (as if the rest didn't) but it looks like the fabric is so thin and nasty the back's showing through.

You would think that a club whose traditional shirt colours are predominantly white with navy trim would be straightforward enough to produce a kit for. Surely you can't mess up such a basic yet classic combination?

But hats off to Reebok, who have done just that. Yet again.

takao - translation - thanks.

If Blackburn Rovers goes well - Valencia to get to 10 games, Manchester United v Blackpool:

Scholes, Owen, Kuszczak and Wes Brown to play their last game at Old Trafford. Joshua King may get a start instead of Berbatov; why risk the Bulgarian? Chuck in Obertan, Gibson and possibly Gill, then fill to 11 and accept the fine.

Dalglish; curses, Lord Blackadder has dealt with it. I had 'honeymoon period' and all sorts of stuff ready.:)

I'm still reserving judgment until Dalglish has made some transfers and then had a full season in charge - but he is a manager with a proven record of winning things in English football, so if the past is any guide, we have a capable man in place. If Liverpool continue this form into next season and have a stronger squad to boot, we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Bolton Wanderers Shirt; Dazzle Camouflage

Dazzle camouflage looks good on steamships, not so much on football shirts.

It's getting boring Bernstein!

Fergie's gotten away with plenty of rants in the past, I can only assume that the FA are getting bored with him. But it does seem strange that Fergie would be prevented from speaking about one of his own employees. ;)

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Funny how the more mind games Fergie tries to play with the refs, the more it seems to come back to bite him, both on the pitch and in the FA boardrooms. So-called Howard "In United's Back Pocket" Webb missed a couple of tricks last Sunday, like Lampard's hand ball in the box and Terry's foul on Valencia should've been a penalty. Maybe he should try the old "ignore the trolls" strategy and the referee's decisions even out on their own. :p

Will be interesting to see what becomes of Liverpool. Who will be making the decisions on which players will be bought? I thought that was going to be a big sticking point between Dalglish and Liverpool's sporting director. If they're on the same page, Liverpool has a good chance of returning to the top 4 but things are going to be very, very tight between the top 6 or 7 teams next season.

Wow, that Bolton shirt is horrifying.

I agree, speaking about the refs too much is a losing battle. If Fergie (for example) makes a big deal about what he thinks is unfair or poor reffing, everyone will make it a point to remember all the favorable calls he gets, and people won't let him forget it. It's better to avoid bringing it up.

Dalglish is a strong personality at the club, like Mourinho, Ferguson and Wenger, but his working relationship with Comolli will be important. If they continue to make good buys in the transfer market over the summer, Liverpool will be considerably improved next season.

However, as already noted, finishing in the top four will be a much bigger challenge for all clubs in 2011-12 - none of the current top four can afford to drop as many points next season as they did this time around.

I'm looking forward to an all Wales final at Wembley. :)
Given the huffing and puffing Cardiff have done over the past few years about promotion, I would be hugely amused if they were to make it to the final only to lose out to Swansea. :D

Anyway, I want Forest to stay down. I will get my trip to see City at the City Ground. I've only been waiting the past fifteen years or so. :p

Typical result for the first leg of a knockout competition...the Championship playoffs are starting to look a lot like the Europa League. :D

It look nothing like...

Oh wait, it does.

That is the observation of the year! Maybe it's deliberate so they can use small players standing nearby to make them look further away?
My only problem is I really like dazzle on ships, but that Bolton shirt doing nothing for me.

For a dazzle ship, that's pretty tame looking.

Great, now I'm going to have to go listen to a certain OMD album...
