In hindsight maybe the owners really should've sacked him.
Bam! Him gorn! Avram Grant is now free to find a new club to lead to relegation next season.

I've always seen Gold as a poor man's Alan Sugar, so I can imagine him getting Grant in the boardroom and sacking him in a Sugeresque 'You're fired' type way. He's even got Karen Brady flitting around looking all disapproving. :p

I also think it's gonna be Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham. Would have really like Blackpool to stay up though. The league needs a team/manager like that.

That sounds about right.

I too wish Blackpool could survive, but it's hard to see them getting more than a point at Old Trafford, even against a weakened United squad. However, I think Norwich looks like a promising replacement for Blackpool next season.

I'd really rather not see City steal third place from Arsenal. Got to make City really earn their Champions League berth by flying all over Eastern Europe early next season.

Bye Bye West Ham, What a way to go, From 2 goals up to losing 3-2 in the last minute.

Was surprised to see my local rivals Birmingham lose so meekily today. On the flip side I was shocked to see my side Villa actually go 2 goals up against Arsenal, and hold onto to it! So many times this season weve been unable to see out games.

Here's my predictions for the last games of the season, for the relegation battle

Spurs v Birmingham(Draw)
Wolves v Blackburn (Draw)
Stoke v Wigan (Home Win)
Man Utd v Blackpool (Draw)

Which means the bottom 3 will stay as it is now, and Wigan and Blackpool will join the hammers in the championship.

Best of all it will mean all four West Midlands teams will have stayed up :)

You can predict the final results on the BBC website here

Hope so. Blues were crap today - utter crap - i'll put it down to nerves.

Just watched the Birmingham City v Fulham match and they are lucky not to lose by 6. If Fulham would have hit half of their chances, then the Blues would be in the relegation zone.

I think that Blackpool will draw, Birmingham will lose by at least 2 goals, Wolves will win and Blackburn lose and Wigan will win. That'll make Birmingham and Blackburn relegated along with WestHam.

Well that's all folks!

Rangers demolished Killie yesterday, 3 goals up after 7 minutes, ended the game 5-1. I noticed some comments yesterday of Celtic fans accusing Killie of 'laying down' meanwhile it was all Celtic's ‘hard work’ in their 4-0 drubbing of Motherwell! (incidentally, Motherwell fielded a near-reserve team to save their players for next week’s Scottish Cup.) 1 point separating the teams is a fine margin, it all came down to a missed penalty at Ibrox or Celtic losing concentration at Inverness. Fine margins.

So ta ta and thank you Walter Smith. The papers here think he's going to take a big job down in England, perhaps as part of Alex Ferguson's successor at Man Utd but I don't see it myself.

As for my depression with Scottish football.... this year should have been a classic. It came down to 1 point on the final day, the Rangers team were a bit beleaguered but managed to pull through, decent European runs, Neil Lennon is showing signs that he could be one of the great Celtic managers (his signings so far have been rubbish but he's certainly great at putting passion in the team) there was almost a serious bid for the 3rd place team to keep up. But off the pitch has just destroyed all that, referee strikes and now the Lennon nonsense. I perhaps suffer more than most because my family is split between the two teams so I get it in the neck from all angles.

My lad wants me to take him to a football game, I've been quite neutral with him but he's showing interest in Rangers due to influence from his peers at school. I'm considering adopting a wee diddy team. They have a greater need for my money and there is none of the sectarian nonsense. I've got all summer to consider St Mirren.

Not a bad idea – St Mirren are a Renfewshire club, as you say they need local support, and they aren't blighted by the sectarian nonsense that Rangers are. Plus - looking at the ground guides – you and your young clansman can get in at St Mirren Park for the price of a single adult ticket at Ibrox. ;)

Plus, they play in stripes and we all know that the best teams play in stripes. :)

I can just about hear cries of ‘the frugal Scotsman’:p

As the crow flies, Ibrox is closer to me than Love Street, but technically I am Renfrewshire.
Of course, sectarianism is nothing compared to the hatred Buddies show towards Greenock Morton, where they claim counting to 12 using just your fingers is advanced evolution.

And the big question; will Nile Ranger score?

Cheers,
OW

Looks like he's out to score 'something' anyway ;)

Edit, in other news, former FC Twente manager Schteve McLaren is hot favourite to be the new West Ham manger, and will be known as Steve 'Cor Blimey Guv' McLaren, innit!
Bosh!

^You won't "score" much with a replica gun. :D:rolleyes:

My Cup Runneth Over, Parts 2 & 3:

Ajax 'keeper Martin Stekelenberg has followed Sergio Ramos's lead and dropped the Eredivise cup under a team bus while celebrating Ajax's championship (so much for "a safe pair of hands" etc etc). Vincent Kompany dropped the FA Cup on Saturday, although he failed to make it as far as the bus.

...I would like to suggest to UEFA that the Champions League trophy be placed in some sort of shock-proff container for the victory parade after the final...or maybe borrow the popemobile for the victory parade and put it in that.

I'm looking forward to Schteve developing a cockney accent in double quick time. :p

Dropping your team's hard won trophy is embarrassing for any player, but a 'keeper?! Reminds me of when in lived in Nottingham and saw Forest and Wales custodian Mark Crossley in Asda, fumbling the bag of peas Mrs Crossley had just handed him. :D

Maybe it took a deflection. ;)

As for the McLaren rumors, any manager with half a brain ought to avoid the Hammers as long as Gollivan are there.

Congrats!

I'm tipping Reading to get past Cardiff, but and all-Welsh final would be fascinating.

These relegation/promotion battles are truly more exciting and competitive than the Premier League/La Liga/Serie A title races.

Best League the the world, innit. :D

Meanwhile, Sky Sports are reporting the police have been called to West Ham's end of season dinner after fights broke out. A fan apparently asked a player for an autograph, the player refused saying he was 'too tired', and wackiness ensued.

Gold's just been on the telly (in an interview filmed before tonight's distrurbances) saying fans should count themselves lucky he and Sullivan are the club's owners. Er... okay. :D

Not all Villa fans seem too keen on the Blues surviving...

YouTube: video

I've always thought Brummies were a bit odd. ;)

What a video thank u! Will be singing this to taunt my blues mates if they unfortunately do go down
