I could find much better/worse pictures, but that was the one that closest resembled it.

So now that Man Utd are champions, is there anybody else thinks that Fergie might actually bow out this year? I was thinking about this last night, wondering if there is an un-announced succession plan, and part of the plan was he goes while at his peak.

This is total speculation on my part, and I don't want to detract from any of the celebrations but I just remember Ferguson watched Jock Stein die in front of him, I don't think he's got any intention of doing the same.

Anybody else annoyed that the FA cup isn't on Council TV?

This entered my mind too. If Manchester United win the Champions League, this season Fergie will have clinched a record 19th title and equalled the record for the most Champion League/European Cup wins by an individual manager. He spoke recently that he thought van der Sar was doing the right thing by going out at the top, maybe that's foreshadowing an announcement of his own? Who knows?

We've got ESPN on, on account of the fact that ITV's football coverage sucks more than a certain young footballer in a Las Vegas hotel room, if you believe the latest rumoured superinjunction...

doesn't he have his 25th anniversary later this year ? it would make sense to use that as a perfect moment to resign and line up everything for his successor in advance of that

Bad day for Wigan as both Wolves and Blackpool managed to get 3 points.

A win at home to West Ham tomorrow is now an absolute must. (plus as a bonus it would relegate the Hammers)

West Brom - Everton should have had about four more goals, both teams missed a few golden chances. Maybe they were distracted by Paul Scharner's ghastly hair.

We're headed for a pretty tight relegation finale...one that will make United's reserve team selection against Blackpool all the more influential.

Ferguson has, as he once so eloquently put it, knocked Liverpool off their ****ing perch. He's won everything there is to win several times over. But I don't think he'll retire soon. Ferguson is one of those competitors who will never willingly give up the game. I don't see him ever managing another club, and I think he will stay at the helm of United until either his health fails or he is removed (the latter being a pretty unlikely possibility). He could easily be managing United for another 5 years or even more.

Congrats to United. It was a fairly disappointing season overall, but United were the most consistent compared with the other title contenders. I would argue they won the title largely on the basis of their defensive record at home - while they dropped plenty of points they only lost once (if I remember correctly).

...Man City has just won their first major silverware under the new money regime. It won't be their last...

There is a good group of young players coming through, if they don't sign for Hull City then I think Ferguson will want to stay long enough to see them become regulars on the first team sheet - leave the beginnings of a new team.

The Blackburn Rovers game:

Slow, slow, slow, slow, we've got all day, slow... Kuszczak was dodgy, Evans was lost, and players from both sides should have been booked re the crowding. Don't like the award of a penalty when the attacker had no hope of keeping the ball in. Still, the result did the job - title and being able to rest players.

The FA Cup was ... ITV; Jim Beglin was his usual self, ignoring what was being seen in favour of mouth before brain.

swiftaw - good luck tomorrow.

It'll be the cherry on top of the Olympic Stadium nonsense when West Ham United are relegated.

Cheers,
OW

I've been to Upton Park, looking forward to adding another ground tick in the Championship with the Olympic Stadium. ;)

oscillatewildly – word is we're looking at at least one other Manchester United youngster, albeit on loan. Joycey still loves us. :)

I'm going to have to get an amber shirt.:)
Ease yourself in gently, dear boy. ;)

The FA cup was on ITV??? Not up here. I've got ESPN as well, didn't even think to check. *bangs head on wall*

I'll need to check Twitter to make a mockery of the superinjunction.

*Edit, just tried it and it came up with Gordon The Gopher???

Just to clarify, was the FA cup on today because the Champions League is at Wembley and they have to hand over the stadium to them a certain period in advance? I don't remember the Scottish Cup being moved in 2002 (actually the Scottish Cup might have been 3 days after the CL.)

League final day tomorrow in Scotland. I think Rangers will do it, but to be honest I just don't want any more embarrassments for my country. Seriously thinking of quitting footie for a while until it becomes more sensible.

Actually, United is unbeaten at home, only dropping two points there all season long, only because of a Van Der Sar gaffe against, IIRC, West Brom.

The darned Tivo ate my recording of the match, and I tried to not spoil the results by looking them up online. Somehow I made it ten hours without peeking!

Congrats to City for winning the FA Cup. Time to take down (or modify) a certain well-known banner at Old Trafford.

Ah, maybe I was thinking of a cup loss or something...I seem to remember them losing a match. Either way, United's stingy defense (particularly at home) was, for me, what made the difference over the course of the season.

That's except for viewers in Scotland...

That might be the case, I know that the League One and Two Play-Off Finals have been moved to Old Trafford due to the Champions League Final. In fact, a while back one of the newspaper columnists was bleating in his column about supporters of southern teams being hard done by if they reached the Play-Off Final, having to get up at the crack of dawn to make a long and expensive journey to Manchester to see their team.

Welcome to our world.

Hopefully the last day of the Scottish programme will pass off without incident.

UEFA insisted that no matches be played on the Wembley pitch for 2 weeks before the Champions League final, hence the FA Cup yesterday...

The Championship Play-Off final takes place on the 30th, so hopefully manchester United and Barcelona won't ruin the surface ahead of this vital match. And while Manchester United are pottering around at Wembley, there'll be a match on at Old Trafford – the League Two Play-Off Final.

Wow, the relegation battle has gotten exciting... Blackpool look like they will go down, but it would be nice to see them survive by beating United...they have fight, and if United field a weakened team who knows?

Poor game for Liverpool at Anfield. Spurs deserved the win, though the penalty was a terrible call by Webb. Suarez could have been sent off for kicking Dawson after the latter dived rather theatrically.

Looks like Liverpool will lose 5th place to Spurs now. Lots of talk about teams not wanting the Europa League but the fact is every team wants to finish as high as possible. It is true, however, that Liverpool's league form will benefit from not having to play in Europe next season. All in all this was a very dark period for Liverpool fans, and a season to forget. We can at least go into the off season knowing we've got new ownership and a good manager, and can expect better results next year.

Oh dear his Lordship was right...bipolar. Or maybe completely mental is more apt.

Arsenal look totally shell shocked right now, and it probably doesn't help that they've got nothing to play for. Even Wenger looked dejected/disinterested.

So what was the problem at West Ham? was it Grant? He did well at Chelsea though or were the players simply carrying him there? In hindsight maybe the owners really should've sacked him. Thats two teams he's managed into relegation now. I hope other premier league teams pick up Parker and Ba. Great players who should remain in the league.

I also think it's gonna be Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham. Would have really like Blackpool to stay up though. The league needs a team/manager like that.

Shocking display but credit to Villa they actually came out to play. I'm not even gonna bother watching the last match against Fulham...only have eyes for the Champions League finale now. It's clear these lot aren't interested and are just showing up just because. Felt bad for the Gunner fans i saw commuting back from the Emirates. The look on their faces...

My prediction might turn out wrong after all. City will likely get 3rd instead, whilst we settle for 4th. Unbelievable.
