Not at all! Although it seems that they're no longer rolling out barrels and upping knees on a regular basis, they had a reunion tour this year – it finished only two nights ago!

I'm surprised you missed this shocking news. ;)

Damn.

I'd hoped they had disappeared for good. At least Spurs haven't got to any finals this year so they won't have an excuse to get back in the recording studio.

Reading v Swansea in the playoff final. Most will probably be rooting for the Welsh due to the novelty factor (well, 1/5 of the team is Welsh anyway...). I just hope we see six goals or so. :D

I'm also hoping Braga win the Europa League, they knocked Liverpool out and it would be nice to see a Portugese team other than Porto or Benfica win something.

I wonder if we can steal Tevez off city :p

I dunno, London is more cosmopolitan than Manchester but I suspect that if Tevez goes it will be to somewhere sunnier.

Where is Arshavin headed, I wonder? Weather is not an issue with him, so I wonder if he's considering remaining in England.

True. Theres also the more important fact that Wenger would never pony up the cash for him "We already have three strikers" is what he would say...even if we really only have one.

As for Arshavin there were ramblings that Zenith wants him back. He's never struck me as happy being here and i think i remember reading that his wife feels the same. So i won't be all that surprised if he leaves in the summer along with Fabregas...no..i actually expect it to happen. I just hope we can keep Wilshere, Van Persie and Nasri. Our best players this season by a mile.

Wenger needs to really tweak the team otherwise they will end up struggling next season. City's team is starting to gel...although they'll likely ruin the dynamic by overbuying/overselling again. Utd are gonna sort out their midfield by all accounts, Chelsea look to be planning a mass exodus/overhaul, Liverpool is in resurgence and Spurs aren't that far behind at all.

No longer top 4 but top 6.

Perhaps, but don't forget that Manchester is more welcoming.

The sign is mislabled; it's actually a picture of Tevez trying to escape. ;)

Actually half a striker, since RVP always misses big stretches of the season through injury. Ideally you'd want two more starting quality strikers and get shot of either Bendtner or Chamakh, leaving the other as a 4th option striker for Carling Cup matches or short term injury cover.

I think both Liverpool and Man City will both be better next season. I'm not so sure about Arsenal and Chelsea, though both have the basis of a title winning squad on paper. United doesn't need to change anything. Spurs need at least three quality defenders, a keeper and they have to hope that Crouch, Defoe and Pavlyuchenko have a better season in 2011-12.

United are going to have to change, whether they like it or not. Van Der Sar is definitely retiring, so they need to bring in a new keeper. Scholes is in all likelihood retiring as well, and the midfield in general needs some retooling. In no particular order, United need a defensive midfielder to replace perma-crock Hargreaves, a playmaker in the middle of the pitch to replace Scholes, and a true left winger would also be very helpful. I think Tom Cleverley will make a positive contribution next season but a bit more quality is needed.

I agree with your assessments of the other teams' squads. I think Spurs desperately need to add a more reliable striker in addition to some defenders who are better at staying healthy.

It will be interesting to see what direction Chelsea goes in. They have quality players but their old system seems to have run its course and some of their most important players (Lampard, Drogba) are not very adaptable to new systems, and too many of their other key players are the wrong side of 30 now.

IMHO a good choice for the Manu central midfield would have been Dortmunds Nuri Sahin: proofed himself this season as a pillar of the Bundesliga winning team, excelent vision, great long range/through ball passing game, dangerous corner taker ... he played as a defensive midfielder/deep lying playmaker role

and the best part ? he had a 10 million release-clause in his contract... which was pocket chance for Real Madrid, who seem to aquired a taste for Bundesliga midfielders, as they also signed Hamit Altintop from Bayern on a free transfer

interestingly both Sahin and Altintop were born/raised in Germany as well, just like Khedira and Özil.

meanwhile at Wolfsburg the midfield-diva Diego has very likely shoveled the grave for his career: when presented with the fact that he would only start on the bench for the last, regelation decisive, league game, he took his bag and left the stadium prior to kick off.
The rest of the squad managed to save their 1st league status regardless, but Magath has already anounced that "Diego will never again be playing a single game in the first squad as long as i'm in charge at Wolfsburg", which now leaves Diego with 2 options:
- playing in the 4th german league with the wolfsburg amateur team for the next 2 years
- hope that somebody ponies up the millions required to buy him out of his contract .. which because of his rather shameful behaviour this season won't be easy

After my confusion about last weeks FA Cup (on ITV in England, not in Scotland) I thought I'd let you know about the Scottish Cup. It's on BBC Scotland, but not in England where it's on Sky Sports 2. But if you have a Sky or cable package and don't have Sky Sports, have a look at the higher channel numbers and you'll find BBC Scotland.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter has described the Football Association's decision to abstain in the voting for the upcoming presidential election as "a bit strange".

Apparently, over a rather expensive "free lunch" which also involved bundles of cash in brown paper bags, everything seemed fine ;)

Pure speculation of course, but Nicky Ajose is a name some are banding about...

A Championship club would be a jump from League Two - time at Bury. Too far in one go? Bury will be League One next season, as will your favourite team with 'thorpe' in their name - former Bury man Alan Knill has made contact with Manchester United re Ajose.

Sorry for the delay in replying, my broadband connection has been on holiday.

Manchester United are stretching things by using a very round '9' in 'CHAMP19NS':

And there's a new man in Swindon Town:

Edit - daneoni - Hahahahaha 150m and £300,000 a week for 5 yrs for one player?

Feel conned by Real and their 80m. :( :)

Cheers,
OW

Instant karma gets you every time, which is why some people said Celtic deserved silverware after the season they've had.

I don't normally watch football games that don't involve Rangers or Scotland, I watched this one as a slightly biased neutral! The ref did his best to stamp out any hope of football in the first 20 minutes, flashed his yellow card so often it got soggy in the pouring rain. We then reached a point were due to the precedents he had set we'd either end up 8 a side or he'd have to back off, so we then had two blatant hand balls (for either side) with no action taken. In the end Motherwell only started to play once they lost a goal, scoreline didn't reflect the game but Celtic deserved it on the whole.

And that is the last kick of the ball in Scotland, bloody hell what are we going to do for the next 8 weeks?

and the butterfingers continue... this time Ajax Amsterdam:

Looks like he hit the OLE for the tram lines? Lucky he's still alive!

The CL final of course! And, well, there is always MLS... In ten minutes LA Galaxy take on cross-town rivals Chivas USA... though I'll be out to dinner with Lady Blackadder and will miss the match. I'd prefer the dinner. :D
