You're still hanging on to the Meerkats job though Fuzzy, unlike Schteve who has been schacked...

hardly a surprise, despite spending record sums he simply couldn't turn the same successfull team as last year into any worthy team ... Diego ignoring his orders to let Helmes take the penalty kick was just the icing on the cake

van Gaal at Bayern sure is also under massive pressure in Munich

Where next for Schteve? It would be nice to see him continue managing in Europe, few English managers are willing to do it. Perhaps he should have stayed at Twente, where he was successful.

What was the Accrington Stanley Bowl coverage like in the UK? Did they use American announcers/analysts? Did Andy Gray find a new calling as eggball announcer? Did any of you lot bother to watch? :D Speaking as an Ohioan, it was beautiful to watch our hated rivals Pittsburgh fail. That, plus the Man U loss and Liverpool win over Chelsea made this weekend almost perfect here in Blackadder Manor. The only small blip was watching my alma mater's hockey team lose to the local Anchorage college team on Staurday night. I can live with that. ;)

Accrington Stan– oh.

Over here on Sky they generally have two regular presenters, one Brit and one American, with others popping in as needs be. They actually show NFL games live each week on a Sunday evening/early Monday morning so Superbowl coverage isn't really that big a novelty.

I think our coverage differs in that we don't have as many adverts inbetween the plays as you do in the States, they often go back to the studio to discuss what's happening or answer viewers' emails rather than constantly try to sell us stuff like big cars and iPads. ;)

I usually watch the build up, which in all honesty I find more interesting than the actual game itself. Dunno what Keys and Gray would make of the cheerleaders though. Would you smash it indeed...

As for McClaren, I dunno where he'll end up next. West Brom seems an obvious call if he feels the pull of home, but as you say your Lordship it would be nice to see him stay in Europe. Back to the Netherlands, or Scandinavia perhaps?

West Bromwich would be nice. I'd love to hear him have a go at the local dialect. :D

It's coming on, this is his favourite TV advert apparently

:D

Lord Blackadder; yep, watched the men in fancy dress. Enjoyed the game; BBC TV used Fox - Troy Aikman and Joe Buck - and in the studio were Mike Carlson and former New York Giants player Tiki Barber. Don't know who the radio team were.

I lost the coin toss that counts - for some reason it's not televised - and got the Steelers. :(

Cheers,
OW

Perhaps Schteve could take some hat throwing lessons from Phil Brown to make himself more hirable. Though I'm not sure how well the alpine hat he's brought from Germany will fly as compared with Phil's tried-and-trusted cloth workingman's cap. :D

The commercials have literally superceded the athletic event. It is, in a way, the ultimate expression of NFL football, a sport which has become literally inseperable from television these days. People mute the game and listen to the commercials.

A sharp contrast with good ol' futbol and its 45 + 45minutes of non-stop thrills, chills, spills, and cold nights away at Stoke.

what really shows the "how much of a tv programm" it have become is watching it on a tv-channel with no ad breaks (like the german ARD). When US television is pulling an extra break and you see the players and referees standing around on the pitch talking & waiting for the 'continue' signal from TV

Weird, isn't it? But it makes a LOT of money, and that's what it's all about.

That's what's so great about proper football - you spend most of your time watching the game, rather than commercials. 45 minutes of uninterrupted sport.

Well, it seems Schteve isnt interested in the West Brom job. I guess the accent's harder than he thought!

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has said that one of the biggest things he misses as a footballer is the freedom to go on a skiing holiday.
Funny, I thought the biggest thing he misses was white, and 28"x8" in size :p

He sounds like a right tit. Less talking more scoring...if you can manage that.

Meanwhile, another reason – as if any further were needed – not to listen to TalkSport...

Never listened to it before. Won't now...

This is a very interesting read (and watch) about Rafa Benitez if you've got the time.. I like him a lot, and rate him as a manager.

I saw that. A good piece.

He has frustrated me at times, but I don't think anyone can credibly argue that he's not a very good manager. It's easy to forget that we missed winning the league by a whisker a couple years back.

Oh? B52 want's to quit the club.

I may sound biased but i have yet to see a manager who gives his B-team as many chances to step up/prove themselves as Wenger does. Almost blind faith. Yet these people mostly flop and then go on to moan about it.

Bendtner is a good striker (was immense for us last season) but is not consistent enough to be a top 4 club first team striker. He's been given so many chances but the results are mostly the same; the B52 bomber, 9 times out of 10, misses it's target.

He's not the only one. if it were me i'd send; Diaby, Denilson, Rosicky, Squillaci and Almunia packing this summer. All are squad players that fail to deliver 95% of the time they are called up to supplement.

Seems Bendtner's going in to coaching/management instead :)

Scotland v Northern Ireland tonight, in Dublin!

Scotland have picked a team where I've heard of the majority of players for once, including (according to Wikipedia) Senator Scott Brown (Rep) of Massachusetts.

Actually with Naismith, Brown, Miller and Commons as our attack/midfield, I think we're looking pretty good. Hmmm, a confident Scotsman, how out of character.
