Red Bull have been training and claim they can change their tyres in under 2 seconds

Wow that is incredible. It's good to see that the pitstops will still be incredibly spectacular with their new found speed in changing tires.

Can't wait for the first laps in Bahrain this weekend, its going to be great!

My money is on Hamilton for this year, but I'm hoping Schumi will be up there with the front runners to see whether Hamilton can indeed match him for driving quality.

dam i can not even comprehend how quick that is.
dam this weekend is going to be great, first f1 then spring break :D:D:D

:(

It was one of the best tracks around, except the Melbourne Loop section...

The wife had tears in her eyes watching that!

The Melbourne Loop was always wrong, they just tacked it on to lengthen the track to get the bike GP.

I've had some great days out there in the past and I hope someone can come in and bring it back to life. It's hard to see where the investment will come from because they have lost all the top races.

Yeah, I doubt it'll even be a club race track any more.

Now the bikes have to race at the very dull Silverstone...
:(

I'd be very surprised if Donnington wasn't rebuilt once finance starts flowing again... but I hope they incorporate the changes that were planned though as I was never a big fan of the track, (it's not anywhere near as dull as Brands though) but it lacks the high speed challenge (and spectacle) of Silverstone IMHO which I'm rather looking forward to seeing MotoGP tackle. :D

First time I've ever heard Brands referred to as dull. The GP track normally up at the high end of drivers/riders' favourite tracks to race, and the Indy track is brilliant for spectators.

Shame the people that knowingly moved into the area of a racing track got the number of days they could use it cut.

I'm well excited for the season to start. One day to go! :D

Does anybody know if Peter Windsor will be back to do the Speed track coverage since USF1 has folded (or is on hold)? I know the BBC/5 Live guy took over duties at the end of each race to interview the drivers as well while Windsor wound down his role.

If not, who is replacing him? Or is Speed just going to abandon track coverage?

I've only been to Brands once and thought it was great but I've always found Silverstone dull (as a spectator).

Brands Indy gets a bit dull to drive round. There are only 6 corners really. But one is Paddock which pretty much makes it all worth while.

Well... I've been saying it for years, not that my opinion matters of course, heh, but few circuits are quite as divisive as Brands in my experience.

The Indy track is brilliant for spectators because it takes place in a natural bowl... but the racing on it is still largely... dull (apart from Rallycross, that was consistently brilliant, but that's largely because they left the actual track just after Druids and when they returned to it at Surtees, they were going the wrong way and thus fortunately missing the dullest part of the circuit). :p

The GP track... kind of reminds me of the featureless blast into the woods of the old Hockenheimring, but with a couple of hills thrown in.

Shame the people that knowingly moved into the area of a racing track got the number of days they could use it cut.

It's a bit like people moving next to an airport, and bitching about the planes isn't it.

Alton Towers is unfortunately afflicted by a similar quality of neighbour as well.

Maybe he doesn't mean Brands Hatch...

I do.

Just watched 1st practice. It's good to see cars on tracks again.
A Force India topping the timing sheets is also quite good (yes, I know it's only 1st practice).

I just caught the last half hour. Not surprisingly Bruno Senna's HRT looked a right handful, it was 5 seconds per sector off the pace in the lap they showed at the end.

That was only one of 3 "laps" they did.
1 out and straight in, 1 out and 1 almost full timed.

I at least hoped that Hispania would have two cars ready to go for a very very busy productive and educational first practice session.

They turn up without anything for the pit-wall, and only one car gets out, and doesn't even do a full lap. At the very very very best, this team will have <100km running between 2 cars before they're sat at the back of a grid full of cars with THOUSANDS of km of testing. They're not going to impress anyone, they're not going to get any sponsorship as a result, they're not going to be around for very long.

I just hope they don't negatively impact anyone else's attempts to qualify or race. It's a potentially dangerous situation to be driving at 200mph in a car that's not even had a shakedown.

Why oh why did the FIA give USGP and Hispania entries to F1, yet wouldn't give one to Prodrive, or even let Stefan in. I just can not understand the FIAs thought process.

Well if they don't get in the 107% then they won't be racing.

If the first practise times are any indication, I doubt any of the new teams will qualify for the race.
