Love the Lotus livery, but the design appears very boxy compared to the sleeker models that have been released so far.

I am actually more excited about the Formula One season than the iPad.

This will be one of the best seasons in a very long time. There are so many pilots who might win.

i'm just glad that it is BRG and included some gold... i don't expect my buddy Jarno to have a big year...

I'm very happy it's the correct colour. I don't expect Lotus to do much though. I hope they achieve their goal of being the fastest of the new teams...

I think there's a strong argument that it isn't... British Racing Green isn't actually a metallic. And though it's difficult to tell because of the studio lighting, it doesn't look like the correct shade of green originally used by Lotus either. But it could be much, much worse though.

I think Lotus will do alright, they've unarguably got the strongest technical staff of all the new teams. Should be surprisingly solid I think.

i don't think it is mettalic. the spy shot i saw the other day lent to it not being mettalic...

and thanks goodness it isn't that abomination of green that jag used...

the big mistake is the high nose. most of the cars that won last season had their nose cones lower to the ground.

and i wonder if they are going to regret not having that anvil/sharkfin going back to the rear spoiler like everyone else... i hope not, i hate the way that looks.

I think Lotus Racing would consider that a good first day. 76 laps completed. No breakdowns. Although they have now power steering due to a supplier issue. Faster than Virgin who still seem to be struggling to complete laps still.

Wow, I haven't been on this thread for ages! Have I missed anything yet?

So what does everyone think of testing so far?

Let play predict the top 5 for Bahrain...

  1. Alonso
  2. Hamilton
  3. Button
  4. Schumi
  5. Massa

Actually thinking about that makes it really hard! I mean no Red Bulls in there and they look pretty quick. This really is close to call. Although I do think Ferrari look very good. Schumi is looking quick too (was there ever any doubt?).

Anyone else think that the wet weather in testing so far is further proof that we need to have some in season testing. Perhaps on the Thursday before or Monday after certain races they could have free open testing. Only needs 4 or 5 sessions across the year.

Or just let them run more on the days already in a race weekend. The teams are all at the track anyway so the cost issue shouldn't really be too bad.

Shame for Lotus: Heikki has broken the front wing on the car and they won't be able to run any more today. Spare will arrive overnight so they can run tomorrow at least.

I cannot wait! This season is going to be fantastically competitive with so many very talented drivers and very good cars. You might have forgot about another German driver there... But I agree that Alonso has a chance, just like Hamilton and so many others. I'm not sure about Massa though. And Schumacher might have aged.

He had a serious back injury. It's a little wonder that he is back at all. Thanks God for that!

USF1 have asked to skip the first 4 races.

If Stefan GP are really ready to run (as they appear to be) perhaps USF1 should just be thrown out of the championship entirely and Stefan GP allowed to race for the whole season. 2 other teams have cars running. Campos Meta still think they will make the first race. Why have the American team failed so miserably?

USF1 can't be thrown out of the F1WC arbitrarily. They haven't committed any infractions to warrant that, yet. The line-up of teams can't be switched around on whims. There are agreements and contracts involved.

The cause for the USF1 failure to produce a car is most likely some combination of lack of money and poor management. It doesn't help that the majority of Americans couldn't care less about it. Hell, the majority of Americans aren't even aware an American team exists or even what Formula 1 is.
