There are 600 people working for Red Bull, it's not only one of them that's a genius...

Exactly. Look at Mclaren - a "random" (non-famous!) engineer thought of the F-duct. What Adrian Newey does seem to be a able to do (in a way that Ross Brawn does) is to galvanise a team together. It's not just him in front of a computer tho'!:p

EDIT: Aah! "In Mclaren, the Great Mclaren" - with bells!

He's the common denominator at Williams, when they were dominating the 90's and Red Bull. His Leyton House Marches were amazingly competitive on a shoestring budget in the late eighties. He designed at Mclaren during the early 00's when it was practically only McLaren and Ferrari and Michael Schumacher that were winning. His cars have been too good for too long for him not to be considered the best designer in F1 over the last 20 years. He's a genius.

RBR has a lot of resources, just as the top four or five teams in F1 do as well. Newey is clearly gifted. Take him out of RBR and they would not be dominating.

Ferrari have been fined $20k for releasing Alonso into Rosberg. LAME...there was no contact, no damage done, just a touch scary moment for Rosberg.
Pit crew safety is paramount. The fine is justifiable in this situation. It doesn't matter that there was no contact. You can't wait for catastrophe to start enforcing pit lane violations.

I think the penalty should have been the same as if they'd done that in a race. Unfortunately most of the sanctions only apply in race situations, not qualifying.

Yep. I totally agree. Someone can still get injured during practice and quali as well as the race. Anything to do with safety should carry through the entire time the teams are at a circuit for a race...

Damn tire blow out. How does Vettle get away with 3rd after all of that. Poor Lewis after a good drive. :( Kudos to Mark though for also driving a great race and qualifying well to get pole.

Seems like the media (some) are suggesting that MB is turing on Rossberg to help Schumacher. I don't think I buy into that since their actions aren't explicitly meant to hinder his efforts. Sounds like they're just churning up undue drama.

I see Jake has an iPad...

Yeah, I'm not sure what it's for. It seems to have replaced the clip board he used to have. Good to see license payer money being spent well.

Qualifying was amazing though. Didn't expect Kubica to be so far ahead, and I definitely didn't expect Mark to pull that insane lap out.

Maybe it was for the official F1 app? It's been getting good reviews, albeit from a biased source.

I'm going for Kubica - great tyre management, and excellent around street circuits.

It's a fun app to have during a live race and qualifying. Usually you know whether someone has gone purple in a sector or on a lap a couple of seconds before the TV commentators.

It's also great for looking up gaps between drivers when the TV commentators are not paying attention. It's was interesting to see Webber keep upping his gap to second in Spain for instance. One can also see if gaps are shrinking and if someone will catch someone else before the end of the race.

Unfortunately you have to buy it for each season and this season's app almost doubled in price.

As for today, I think whoever makes it to the first corner in first place will probably win the race, if it's dry. I'd say Webbo.

Very upset with Jarno. He made that much too easy. What happened to the Lotus strategy as described on twitter:

"Lots of people asking if we will let alonso through. Absolutly not, if it is for position we race everyone, no matter now quick" : Mike Gasoyne

Let's hope Kovalainen has read twitter...
