The Patriots will be interesting to watch. They've proven they can "rehabilitate" players and get good results from them long after other's thought they were a "lost cause". It will be fun seeing if they can do it again with their two new vets with baggage.

I don't think they'll have an issue with Ochocinco...Hayneworth may be another story. I think he'll be fine as long as they can keep him happy. If he's not they'll just dump him like they did with Moss. As a Jets fan, I'm hoping for the latter. :D Not to mention, the guy is a jerk and completely hosed the Redskins. It's hard to root for a guy like that to succeed.

Why is it a good move on their part? Two players who haven't been worth their salary for the past 3 or 4 years who aren't as good as those they're replacing (85 -> Randy Moss, Haynesworth -> Richard Seymour). Looks like another cameo in the playoffs for the Patriots before a first round exit. The Patriots under Tom Brady are the new Colts under Peyton Manning.

New to football? It's a GREAT move because they are both coming in to be complimentary pieces. Haynesworth will play maybe 30-35 snaps per game, mostly in passing downs. Our d-line has been a huge issue, and this is a guy that's two years removed from pro bowls and signing a 100 million dollar contract. He has the talent, he just played for a **** team with a **** coach who made him not care. Belichick will either make him care, or he'll be looking for a new employer come week 3.

Ocho is going to be great. Since Ocho and Bill met at the pro bowl a few years ago, he has had nothing but the highest praise for Bill. They are good friends, and there were interviews where Chad said he respected Bill as much as his coach even though he had never played under him. Chad LOVES football, and he's coming to a winning environment with TOM BRADY. His numbers would have been good for 2nd on our team last year in WR. He's gonna compliment all of our other weapons (Welker, Branch, Tate, Edelman, Price, Gronk, Hernandez, BJGE, Woodhead, and Faulk) and be damn good at it.

Meh. So grateful that we're letting Haynesworth go. Just a huge money-pit.

Good luck with him, Pats.

Yup, and the skins are still on the hook for all but $5 mil this year.

We did it with Rodney Harrison, Corey Dillion, and Randy Moss.

First two guys, we won the Super Bowl the years they came in. The last guy.. well they won 18 straight before blowing it.

Uh, no. Getting suspended for the last four games by a future HoF coach for "conduct detrimental to the team" is not the team nor the coach's fault. Albert Haynesworth is only good when he's playing for a big contract. In fact, he's one of the biggest free-agent busts ever. Going to New England - where the problem isn't the defensive line - is not going to help his case.

That would have been meaningful if it was 2007. No Patriot wide receiver had a 1000 yard season in 2010. Given that Chad Ochocinco was the #1 wide receiver on a team that was always down in the score (and therefore forced to pass), his lack of production is questionable at best. Your statement just reeks of optimism, for which I suppose you deserve some credit.

Patriots fans these days are really just looking for ways to beat around the bush. Bringing in Albert Haynesworth and Chad Ochocinco is just another way of saying that no one in New England will ever publically call out Tom Brady and Bill Belichick for their recent playoff ineptitude. The truth is that the guard has changed in the AFC. The Patriots and Colts are out, the Ravens, Steelers, and the Jets are on top.

Nice justification for a man who signed a $100 million dollar contract to play for that **** team. So, he showed up fat and unwilling to learn the defense because of the coach?? Give me a break, the guy had $100 million reasons to care. Yes, he was great when he was motivated to get that big contract, but the guy is an a**. Call a spade a spade.

Did you watch the Patriots last year? The pass rush was nonexistent, and IIRC, we were ranked 32nd on 3rd down. So yeah, the problem absolutely was the defensive line. With Tom Brady under center, we don't have a problem scoring points. We need better defense to win in winter. The point is, it's a low risk, high reward move. If he can get his act together, we got a very talented player for a 5th round pick. If he doesn't, we cut him, and we lost a 5th round pick.

Saying he's replacing Richard Seymour is actually ridiculous. You realize Seymour's been gone for awhile now, right? We're adding a piece that could potentially help us. He's not replacing anyone.

You honestly think that Ocho isn't going to have a productive season for us? Because that's what it comes down to. Can this guy be a productive part of our offense. I think he can and he will. Tom Brady > Carson Palmer, Patriots > Bengals. It's a better situation for him, and I think he will respond.

That's a little ridiculous. Playoff ineptitude? They've lost games, but they've had some turn over and some less talented teams. It's not rocket science or some knock against Belichick and Brady. You might have an argument if we're talking 2007, but newsflash: winning the Super Bowl is really, really hard. Doing it consistently is special. The Patriots have had a couple of years of competitive rebuilding - replacing aging veterans of the SB teams with younger players. It takes a little time. The Jets have choked out two years in a row, and the Ravens can never beat the Steelers. They're hardly the new dynasties. Even the mighty Steelers blew a Super Bowl. I realize the bar was set impossibly high for the Patriots, but acting like they're the new Buffalo Bills is shortsighted and obviously biased.

And I don't see the point in calling out Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. To what end? Then what? "So you guys haven't won any Super Bowls lately, you both suck!" Because all of the success they had was smoke and mirrors, right? And the league isn't at all cyclical? There's no point in name calling - just try and make your team better and move forward. I could care less if people think Belichick and Brady are washed up, suck, are chokers, whatever. Good for you. I trust them, and I think the Patriots are always in the hunt, which I appreciate as a fan.

Overall I think they're low risk moves, and I like them. I'm also excited to see our young defense with another year under their belt. I know knocking on the Patriots is national sport, but I don't see how anyone can knock taking a chance with a couple of fifth rounders.

I realize you're a newbie here so let me give you some friendly advice. When cheering on your team and bashing the rest it usually helps to actually...

IDENTIFY... who your team is!

Just some free advice there, feel free to ignore it. ;)

Actually, the pass rush is one of the biggest issues. Adding him to the line will help that. Belichick has a great system, he gets his players to buy in to it. Look at Rodney Harrison and Corey Dillon. He makes his players care about the team. If not, he'll be cut. A 5th round pick next year? No big loss. It's low risk high reward.

He's only 33, that's not that old. His numbers last year on a 4-12 Cincinnati team would have been 2nd in all of the major categories for the Pats last year.

Ocho has wanted to play for the Pats for a long time now. He's got huge respect for Belichick as a coach. He's a hard working football player. And now he is going to be playing in an offense that went 14-2 last year and was lead by the NFL MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year (which people seem to have already forgotten) Tom Brady. I think he can do BIG things for our offense.

Considering the fact that Belichick COMPLETELY rebuilt his defense in the past 3 years or so, I think they've done quite well. That defense came a long way between the beginning and end of last season, and I think another year under their belts will help immensely. Haynesworth might help, so I hope that the defense is better than last year. That's what we need to win another Super Bowl. The offense is more than good enough, it's the defense that has been hurting us since about 2006.

I'm not saying he's not an *******. But he's a talented ****ing football player when he actually tries. Belichick is either going to get him to play to his potential, or if he pulls any stupid ****, he'll cut him. He cost practically nothing, so it's no big loss.

Yes. Pretty much sums it up.

Why the hell would Plaxico "I didn't know the gun was loaded" Burress want to go back to NY. I would want to stay as far away as possible. Well I guess he will fit in with the Jets, being as the whole team likes to shoot their mouths off.

Well, not everyone. I'm pretty sure the kickers and the guys on the practice squad are quiet.

Interesting deal for the Jets, who get an accomplished wide receiver (and head case) on the cheap. And they are meeting with Todd Heap today and appear to be resigning Cromartie (though, nothing has been announced). I'd love to see them add a guy who can help with the pass rush.

my bears have been busy, but they need to work on their damned O-Line already! and they need to get Kreutz resigned.

That's alright dude,he will be playing with his criminal friend Michael Vick soon enough:rolleyes::D

No worries with our new CB's...;)
Going to need those CB's because Cullen Jenkins will get hurt after a few games. Wasn't that the MO with his brother Kris as well? Show flashes of dominance and then get knicked up when you needed them down the stretch..

Anyways, nice FA pickups Eagles. Hope to see you guys @ Lambeau in late January

I think that's the main reason the Birds got Asomugha and DRC;)
