lol unbelievable

it was a toss up for me between the steelers and the broncos...didn't want to face the steelers again though, so yay broncos.

316 yards passing, 50 rushing, tebow did enough to deserve the win, serves the steelers right for playing Roethlisberger and getting him even more hurt for no reason at all.

And meh that incomplete that should've been a fumble since it was a backwards pass needs to be checked in the offseason, that's where it all started going well for the steelers and all wrong for the broncos.

If Pats meet Giants, we'll beat you again... Beat you at your house, we'll beat you at Peyton's house too.

Yeahh... no. Brady doesn't lose to the same team twice.

And good luck stopping the GRONK. :D

lets not get ahead of ourselves though... still have two rounds of games before the super bowl.. anything can happen... well except the jets winning! haha suck it you fat **** rex ryan

Shortest overtime win in NFL history, 11 seconds!!!!!!

80 yard pass in OT is a postseason record as well.

What an amazing game. The stadium was rocking. I didn't sit during the entire game. Tim and several other Broncos took a victory lap around the stadium high-fiveing fans.

That happened so fast.

I just got up to get something and it was over. The way the Steelers came to life in the second half, it just seemed like the Broncos were dead in the water and the better team overall this season (12-4 Steelers) was going to win this one.

Next week is going to be a really tough one for Denver but I hope they win. Brady and company are the sharpest unit in the AFC right now and the only team capable of giving a good fight against a New Orleans or Green Bay. Tom Brady is hot but may be near his end for a realistic chance to win it all again, like in 2001, 2003-2004 so he will be very hungry. It would kind of be nice to see Brady get just one more and be up there with Bradshaw and Montana and time is probably running out for him. I am not afraid for New England next week though unless Tebow finds himself again and plays four solid quarters of football.

The Steelers did themselves in by not getting something on the board in the first half and a team can't play two quarters of so-so football and expect to win in the postseason. I don't know if Ben was hurt, but it's possible thus the incompletions and picks.

No, the Steelers sealed their fate with the first field goal.

Odd stat for this Wild Card weekend: every team that scored first also lost.

Yeah, Jesus was there this week, just look at that first stat, 3:16... Lol

This is excellent.

Denver actually thinks they have something going with this run with this Tebow character.

That's going to make it even more beautiful to see them get crushed by Brady in New England this Saturday. I'm glad that I don't have to see the Steelers again this season as the play the Pats pretty tough usually.

LOL at Denver thinking they have something and even more for the new crappy playoff rules.

Ben's injury to his ankle was the most publicized item in the past several weeks
And was often cited during the game

Actually, the Steelers were decimated with injuries, but that is part of the game

Not a big fan of Tebow or the Steelers, but living around the Cleveland area, I wanted to see the Steelers lose.

It was a good game, but the highlight of course was the blink-and-you-missed-it overtime period. Seriously, I was cleaning up after taking down Christmas decorations, turned my attention from the TV for a minute, and then all of a sudden this guy's running for the end zone with the football. I actually had to stop for a second to realize that this wasn't a replay from something earlier; there was no such play earlier. This actually was an overtime ending on the very first play. Wow. :p

That was no great Tebow miracle.

The Steelers defense was down a few people.

They were set up in a total run defense. No coverage at all in the secondary.

Then Tebow just threw a simple pass the Steelers didn't expect.

No Tebow miracle. Just poor defense by the Steelers.

The Denver mile high high school could have done the same thing in that circumstance.

Brady is going to once again show Tebow how to be a quarterback.

Broncos suck, don't deserve to be in the playoffs, I hate Tebow, blah, blah, blah.

We beat the team that was in front of us. Yeah, they had some injuries. But that is the nature of the game. Perhaps you should listen to what some of the Steelers had to say about the game.

Ryan Clark said:
"You can never say how much it can affect because we weren’t out there," Clark said. "The thing you look at is, even with the guys we had in there, we had opportunities to win this game and Denver made plays. You can’t take that away from them by saying we were hurt and it would have been different if we were out there because you don’t know."

James Farrior said:
"On defense, we felt like we let the team down," Steelers linebacker James Farrior said. "We felt like we had a good grasp of what they were going to do to us or try to do us. They came out and made way more plays that we thought they were capable of making."

Mike Tomlin said:
General: “Really, not a lot to say. I’d like to extend congratulations to the Denver Broncos, their staff and players. They played a good football game, of course, and did the job and won. They persevered. I’m proud of our guys and the way they fought but, obviously, we’re not in it for the moral victories, it wasn’t enough. They made the significant plays tonight, particularly the chunks that allowed them to win. We accept responsibility for that like we have through many, many legs of this journey this year. But we fell short."

On the defensive struggles to contain Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas
“They did a nice job. I’d be remiss if I didn’t compliment Demaryius Thomas and the other guys that made the significant plays. More than anything it was some good tough challenging catches by them and some run after. Nice job by those guys.”

On the impact of the Pittsburgh injuries
“You know better than that. We don’t live in that world. We don’t make excuses in regards to injuries. The guys we put on the field were capable of doing the job and the reason we didn’t do the job is because we didn’t perform. We didn’t perform well enough from a coaching standpoint and from a player standpoint.”

On how much QB Ben Roethlisberger’s injury affected his performance
“Not significantly. It won’t be enough to be an excuse, that’s for sure.”

On the Steelers last possession of regulation
“Lack of execution by us.”

On if he had been through a second quarter like the one they faced tonight
“I have been in many situations standing on the sidelines in the National Football League.”

On the performance of RB Isaac Redman
“It was what we expected. He did a nice job. Not only him but all the guys in replacement of some guys that went down. Isaac did a nice job.”

On feeling like the Steelers took back control of the game in their final possession in regulation
“At no point did I feel comfortable, you know, there’s time on the clock. But we were in position.”

On his surprise at the number of passing attempts by Denver
“No, the number of attempts wasn’t surprising. The number of long completions was. I think they had under 20 in regulation, which is right within their personality. I think the significant difference is the number of big plays they were able to connect on. [That can be attributed to] Throwing and catching by them. Execution.”

On his expectation of QB Tim Tebow’s rushing yardage
“I thought he would potentially run more.”

On the last play of the game – first play of overtime (Denver touchdown)
“He [WR Demaryius Thomas] got inside of our cornerback. Of course we had a number of people committed to the run. He made a nice catch. He was able to break free. The catch is less of an issue than his ability, of course, to break free and the run after. The run after was significant, not only on that play but in several instances tonight.”

I think MR readers need to face the fact that the Broncos are finished. They shouldn't even get on the plane. They were extremely fortunate that the Steelers had a HUGE number of key players injured.

I'm sure you were thinking that before the Steelers game. Look how that turned out.

Not really. I have huge respect for the Steelers, but the Broncos don't execute and play quite loose and sloppy in general. For example, on the game-tying TD by the Steerlers, player #36 on the Broncos, should have absolutely crushed the Pittsburgh receiver, but he really let up.

If that happened on a Tomlin- or Belichick-coached team, he would've been benched.

It's that failure to execute that will eliminate the Broncos. They were fortunate that the Steelers couldn't execute due to multiple injuries.

edit: Also, scrambling QBs don't have that much value in the post-season (e.g. Vick). I'm also not impressed by the offensive line of the Broncos. I don't think that Tebow has the composure to sit in the pocket and drive the ball, especially if he scrambles.

THIS!

@NYPost_Hubbuch: Tebow's defenders seem to have quite a strong case of amnesia about just how ugly his losses (and his play in those losses) was this season.

I don't care a whole lot about the Steelers, but I'm not too happy that we have to endure another effing week of tebollatio by the media.

I would counter with that when Tebow has a decent game, his haters find all sorts of reasons why it really doesn't count.

Look, I'll gladly admit that Tebow hasn't looked very good at times this season. The last 2 regular season games he looked confused. But he played a great game last night. 316 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, 3TDs and no turnovers. That is a huge improvement compared to the last 2 regular season games.

But lets look at the Broncos season:

Starts 1-4 with Kyle Orton as the quarterback. At that point in time Orton was tied with Phillip Rivers for the most interceptions in the NFL. Now, in fairness to Kyle, the team was playing bad football.

After that start, Tebow replaces Orton as quarterback and the Broncos go 7-4. For whatever reason, the team as a whole starts playing much better football during this stretch. Tim looked average at best for a lot of those games but for the most part he was protecting the ball and we were winning games.

At the end of the regular season the Broncos make the playoffs for the first time since 2005. Yeah, we needed help to get in but we are in. The 12-4 Steelers come into town with the #1 defense in the NFL and Tebow lights them up with a 125.6 passer rating, the highest in Broncos postseason history.

We beat the team we were scheduled to play. Stop making excuses for the Steelers and against Tebow and the Broncos. The Broncos played the better game yesterday and won.
