Tebow is a football player that kneels every now and again because he is a Christian. Some players shuffle, some jump in to the crowd, others spin the ball and dance around it...

Tebow kneels and thanks his Creator. Get over it. He isn't stopping the game and preaching on the 50 yard line.

I don't want to hear people mocking Tebow's religious beliefs in a NFL thread but I have to daily. Sometimes we all compromise. ;)

Agreed, we can't wait until the 2nd quarter to get our first 1st down like we did against the Steelers.

Yup. If that happens again the game will be over before halftime.

Fair enough. Like I said I don't have a problem with Tebow doing something like that after scoring a touchdown or what not. And I don't care if he wants to thank god after winning. Good for him. I think that's a bit different then when some people are trying to equate him to being "the chosen one" or something. That said, I guess there are religious crazies everywhere, it's not just because of Tebow.

I'm really excited for this game. One of my closest friends moved out to Colorado a couple of years ago. I've been out there a few times to visit and become good friends with a few of his close friends out there so it should be fun. I'm hoping for a Pats win so we can FaceTime them afterwards :p

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned in this thread which might be worth some discussion: Josh McDaniels rejoined the Patriots today as an offensive assistant (he'll take over OC duties after the playoffs when O'Brien goes to Penn State). McDaniels drafted Tebow in Denver. This should prove to be an interesting sub-plot to this weekend's game.

This might be the highest rated non-Super Bowl game in NFL history. 8PM on Saturday night? Every TV in the country is going to be tuned in to this.

McDaniels drafted both Tebow and Thomas. Pretty much the only good thing he did while in Denver.

I think there's no problem with his beliefs, but it's the media that likes to make a big issue out of it.

When we had Steve Young in San Francisco, media types were always trying to make a big deal around the fact that he was a Morman related to Brigham Young. It was a Mormon fetish that the largely liberal press had much like they have on Mitt Romney these days. Ironically, as it turns out, Steve Young ended up being more liberal and open minded than the bay area press thought he would be. Does being white, rich, Mormon, and related to Brigham Young stamp you as having to be a conservative republican on the right fringe of that party? Does this mean that Steve Young is not supposed to drink or smoke? Does it matter that this man, maybe conservative or maybe not, is still a quarterback of a team that represents a famously liberal city, or should it even matter at all?

When Steve Young was with the 49ers, he had a job and that was to be our quarterback, not a religionist. The press should leave Tebow alone and let him play football, and not give him extra credit or extra criticism on his play because of his faith. Jesus Christ represents Christianity and right now, Tebow represents the Denver Broncos.

Tebow had a very, very exciting overtime and that will be remembered, but if Denver is to move forward, they have to think ahead to the very tough Patriots. I don't care if Tebow kneels or not, I just want him to score just enough to beat them.

All Denver needs to do is ball control through the run and limit Brady as much as possible (it's impossible to shut him down) and I think that's something that could be done, Denver's DEF is no joke.

I'm thinking New England wins by a big margin or Denver just gets by. (I'm hoping for the latter)

Yep, the Steelers did a great job of it.

Actually, the Steelers did an excellent job of scheming against him, but they totally failed to execute. For example, on the OT play, the defensive back should've been on the inside of the WR, not on the outside. Faulty execution by PIT, partially due to injuries let DEN win. DEN didn't win the game on their own.

NE is the best-coached/planned teams in the league, and I fail to see them not executing against a DEN squad led by Te-bag. Especially when NE had a week off to plan, the game is in NE and Te-bag has "almost" no playoff experience.

41-27 / 3 INTs.

The 3 INTs will clearly demonstrate the coaching/planning ability of NE.

There's so much talk about the injuries to the Steelers, but isn't that part of the game? I mean, it's not like the Broncos didn't have injuries either. Dawkins has had an awesome season and he's been missing the last two weeks. So, our rookie Safety steps up and has a huge game. Chris Kuper our RG is out for the rest of the season. We lose Eric Decker in the game and Royal and Thomas step up. Von Miller's been playing with basically one hand.

Most of the injuries to the Steelers everyone knew about, and they were still favored.

There's also all this talk of if Ryan Clark played it would have been different. Well, Mundy played pretty well in his place, causing the fumble on McGahee.

In terms of execution...Yeah, I guess the Steelers failed to execute, but why not credit the Broncos for actually executing? Everyone harped on Tebow for not being able to make the easy throws, now he's making them plus more.

Now, I'm not expecting the Broncos to win this Saturday. I didn't expect them to win last Sunday. But you never know in the playoffs. Any given Sunday (or Saturday).

but why not credit the Broncos for actually executing?

Because it's their job to execute. Failure of their opponent allowed them to win, and I guess that "a win is a win", but I definitely don't think they deserve any praise.

You're right - however, when there is an upset like this, people are always going to try and come up with reasons why the favored team didn't win.

And when we keep getting hit over the head with all of the religious references and divine intervention and all of that BS, it's going to make rational people want to come up with more logical and realistic reasoning.

And it's not just the Broncos...in all of this talk about whether or not Eli is an elite quarterback - there were plenty of people who, after their win on Sunday, said it wasn't so much that Eli is great as much as the Falcons were bad. Sports fans have a hard time giving credit where it is due - especially when that credit has to go to teams or players they hate.

I never recall Steve Young talking about his faith apropos of nothing, never thanked God for a victory, nor did he ever kneel in prayer on the field. His religion was his personal matter, and he kept it completely out of the sphere of his profession.

Tebow brings on all the attention to himself through his words and actions. Of course the press and the public are going to pick up on it and make it a topic of debate - freedom of speech isn't a one-way street.

I can't believe they fired Hue. The Raiders had a terrible season in term of injury and the tragedy of Al Davis' death. From all the talk about how Al Davis was fond of Jackson I'm very surprised by this move. It was just his first year as head coach and so much of what happened was beyond his control. Truly unbelievable.

I agree - but he does bring it on himself. For the record - it isn't every now and then, it is every time he scores or wins. It doesn't bother me though, especially after some of the other antics we've seen lately. "Butt wiping" on the goal posts, throat cutting... and any celebration after a tackle or first down of any kind.... it is one play and in most cases(nearly all)it didn't win the game.

Freedom of the speech rules tho, he can pray and folks can criticize... I know sour grapes when I smell them.

I too felt it unfair. My only gripe was the play calling sometimes, especially vs detroit in the last 3 minutes of the game, but other than that I thought he did a good job picking up the pieces.

If I were Demaryius Thomas (or, you know, the rest of the Denver Broncos), I'd be slightly annoyed that Tebow gets all the credit for that game winner. It was a run of the mill pass that even Curtis Painter would hit - and sometimes Tebow misses those. Thomas is the one who outran the DB and stiff armed Ike Taylor. That was also a terrible, risky defensive call by the Steelers.

Regardless, Denver's defense was good again, and they contained, hit, and harassed a hobbled Ben Roethlisberger. That was their job, and they did it admirably. They deserved to win. Injuries are a crap excuse - unless it's the starting QB - everyone has them and deals with them every year.

That said, let's go easy on the praise for Tebow's throwing performance. Yes, he threw for over 300 yards. Definitely an improvement. However, the only throws he's comfortable making are the easy 5-yarders and the chuck-it-up-and-let-the-receiver-do-all-the-work 50+ yard bombs. Hardly a complete QB at this point.

Which is not Tebow's fault. You'll also notice that he always gives credit to his teammates in all the wins. I think the players realize the media hype and understand what's going on. I bet they're pretty happy that they aren't being scrutinized either.

New guy here:

Im a die hard Pats fan living in NYC( N.E sport fan: Sox,Pats,Celts,Bruins,Revs and Cannons) I do like Tebow the kid is a breath of Fresh air to the NFL,and wish him well but not when he plays the Patriots :D

LOL at all of you rating my post down.

We'll see on Sat evening. I'll be in the US to watch this one, which is kinda sad as I find the British commentary much higher quality :(

I believe you can get the UK feed online. I just forgot the address but you can do a little digging on google for it.

I usually watch it online (and can get either the Swedish, Dutch or British commentary. The Swedish commentary is hilarious.

I'd actually like to hit a sports bar and watch the game (if they have a decent beer selection).

However, it looks like I land at 05:40pm at LAX, so I may just watch the end at the Airport Bar ... lol.

Well I heard that the lounges at LAX tend to be a bit pricey but great selection of beer and spirits. So check online to see what bars LAX has.
