As long as we can schedule competative teams and get back to winning games, I don't see why this has to be the case.

I don't see it. I don't think UT has the national fanbase to support its own network. Or rather, convince the major cable/sat providers to carry it. Personally, if the BCS continues, I would like to see them remove the Notre Dame rule allowing independents into BCS games.

So, the realignment drama continues as Pitt and Syracuse have applied to join the ACC. Iowa State and Baylor have supposedly contacted the Big East about joining them if/when the Big 12 falls apart.

I don't know if the Big East can survive. The conference is weak in football and 2 of the top basketball teams will be leaving. I expect the ACC to contact UConn next.

Yeah, ESPN ran a quote from the president of TCU saying essentially the same thing. They are really nervous about this whole thing. I don't really see anyone they could grab to truly replace Pitt and Syracuse.

The non football schools in the Big East are the ones who will get screwed if this all goes down. The Big East could become a basketball only conference. What would happen to Louisville and Marquette.

Well, nobody does. I don't think that's what needs to happen, though. I do agree that going independent would be the wrong move for the long haul - it seems like the move towards mega-conferences is happening fast, and Texas will just have to find its spot like everyone else. I wish they'd scrap the LHN and head to the Pac-10 - it makes a lot more sense than anywhere else.

Great game between OU and FSU tonight.. was a real nail biter. Both teams played well (defenses especially) and it really came down to the 4th quarter. FSU is one hell of a team and I don't think they'll drop much (if any) in the rankings.

Since Notre Dame won, they'll probably hop into #5.

I thought for sure OU was going to choke on another away game. I was impressed by the offense's quick response to FSU evening the score at 13. In the end, I think some of the issues were a change in game plan because of EJ Manuel leaving. The OU defense finally settled down and the offense ran the ball when it had to. A solid road win against a really good opponent.

Wow. Now that is how a rivalry game should be played. Utah's defense ends up forcing seven turnovers (after the 3 it forced on USC!) in a 54-10 victory down in Provo. Everyone here is going crazy over it.

Woo Hoo... Dawgs beat Carolina 59-0!!!
Wait... whaddya mean that was COASTAL Carolina
I thought it was South Carolina... my bad

Dawgs still 0-2 in my opinion till they beat an SEC or Top 25 team

Wouldn't be surprised to see an LSU-Oklahoma BCS NC Game this year
Hard for teams to run the table and stay focused, but these two teams have all the talent in the world... size, speed, skills, and great defense

I think that'd be a great game and I'd be ecstatic if we made it to the NC- but I'm scared ****less by LSU!

That would be a repeat of the 2003 National Title Game, where OU would play LSU in New Orleans. Close game last time, but it didn't work out too well.

OU has such bad luck/timing in some of their national title games in regards to opponent/location.

1988: vs Miami (in Florida) - lost
2000: vs. Florida State (in Florida) - won
2003: vs. LSU (in Louisiana) - lost
2008: vs. Florida (in Florida) - lost

Glad to see the Horns have a good game yesterday. It was against a pretty crappy Bruin team, but given our lack of success against them, I'll take it! I was getting tired of receiving crap from my UCLA buddies' too. :)

I believe it was the athletic director actually.

So Pitt and Syracuse have officially been accepted in to the ACC. Who will the Big East grab now, or will they just continue to be a part-time football league and go with 14 basketball schools?

Obviously football makes the final ruling, but the Big East is such a powerhouse basketball league that it's hard to imagine them dissolving.

UConn seems to be begging the ACC to join, too. This is going to be very interesting...

Word is Iowa State and Baylor are in talks with the Big East, hedging their position with the Big 12.
Why bother with conferences anymore, the Big East is moving farther west. The ACC is moving north. The old rivalries are destroyed and there is no regional feel anymore. Just divide the country in 4 fourths and have BCS divisions.

College sports are so corrupt when presidents and ADs can make back door deals not tell anyone until its finished and not suffer consequences while players get punished for accepting a free lunch.

Yeah it is pretty sad how much they can get away with. I know of some that a normal student would and have been expelled from the school for ever for even more minor infections yet the athlete is a good player on the team and they get caught and kick off for a semester come back and let back into the school no problem at all. Oh and this is not a sport like football or Basketball. It is sport that cost the school money. If they will do that for one of those sports that speaks volumes for a bigger sport.

It is sad and in my opinion athletics should come before sports. Fail or get kick out of there the sports skill has no relevant in punishment.

As long as the Big 12 dies and the Fiesta Bowl changes their affiliation to the Mountain West, I don't really care what happens. ;)

Good luck with that.

The worst corruption doesn't involve conference switching (that's been going on forever); it is the bowl system itself and the cancer (ESPN) that feeds it. Until there's a playoff and the power is removed from the bowl committees' clutches, things will only continue to get worse.

Even though some schools are going to get left out, the coming superconferences are the best thing that could ever happen (at least, for those that get included). Notre Dame's favored status and UT's special TV deal will be out the window when all the dust settles. If the independents (and those that act like independents) want to be included in the party, they're going to have to start playing by everyone else's rules.

It's going to be a bitter pill to swallow, but they'll do it eventually.
