The Pac-12 has announced it will not expand.
And that means nothing. SEC said they were not going to expand and take A&M but we both saw how that turned out.

Looks like OU is doing something right and that is putting a new requirement on the Big 12. Everyone gets an equal share of the money.
It is nice for them putting that demand in place and understand UT demand for the most money and TV network is what is killing the Big 12.

Either way it is pretty safe to say the big 12 is done and UT should loss its network.

Thank God someone somewhere still has their head on straight about this whole cesspool

Don't kid yourself. The only reason, and I mean only reason this didn't go down is because Texas is too damn greedy and won't agree to equal revenue sharing.

So greed destroyed greed.

It is Texas's own greed that is causing the Big 12 to fall apart. If Texas did not demand a massive unfair revenue sharing and followed the other conferences of equal sharing this never would of happened.
On top of that Texas demanded its own network which only made things worse.

i have no doubt that Texas is the reason this blew up and the whole reason we started this whole discussion.

My point was that the Pac-12 decided not to try and negotiate further with the Longhorn network to make it work-that is the first sensible thought i have heard or seen from anyone regarding any of these realignments.

I think it's pretty safe to say the opposite is true. The statements made by the SEC and the Pac-12 were dramatically different, both in tone and in content, and the responses from the schools involved (both the current members of the respective conferences and A&M/OU) suggest that the Pac-12 isn't adding OU or anyone else right now.

I agree with this. Colorado has been adamant against adding UTex since the beginning of this because they know what it would mean to the league (the negative as well as the positive). Larry Scott comes out of this deal smelling great because he surveyed the landscape and saw that adding an unequal partner would eventually make his league just as toxic as the Big 9 is right now.

OU has some serious egg on their face, worse even than Missouri last year because they actually authorized Boren to leave the league. Still, I think UTex will make some minor concessions to appease OU for now (such as firing Dan Beebe) to help them not look so ridiculous, but in the end all this really does is let the boys in Austin slow-play their way to independence, just like they wanted all along.

I completely agree with you.

And it looks like Dan Beebe is on his way out. Now I'm curious what Texas is going to do with The Longhorn Network to make OU happy.

There was some college person in the know from Oklahoma on sports radio here in the Dallas area yesterday and he had some interesting things to say. First he said none of the schools in the Big 12 had a problem with the Longhorn network until ESPN made some adjustments and added High School sports to the coverage. According to him they feel this gives Texas an advantage in recruiting, but that since Texas did not initiate the idea they blame ESPN more than they blame Texas and that it is very likely that the High School coverage could be pulled in order to preserve peace.

When asked who he blamed for all the troubles in the Big 12 he plainly answered OU, the Aggie's, and Nebraska. He said it's easy to blame Texas, but that each of these schools had a chance to speak up earlier about any complaints or concerns they had about things over the past several years and they didn't. In fact he said all the complaints about the Longhorn network are merely sour grapes because before it ever gained traction the conference heads were trying to get a Big 12 network deal going so everyone could benefit and those schools wouldn't support the deal. Then when Texas made things work they all signed off on it. If they didn't agree they should have said so then and brokered a better revenue sharing deal. Instead they just complain and try to finder greener pastures on the other side of the fence.

Being a Vol fan I don't have a dog in this fight, but I thought he made some interesting points.

Remember signing off/agree to it and being happy with it are two very different things.
At the time there was not a better choice available to them but I still fully blame UT and OU for big 12 being so unstable. Those 2 schools money demands compared to the others made it pretty unstable. It only got worse from there
Big 12 south was where all the power in terms of money and that is where at and OU and UT were leading that charge in money grabbing.

UT network just made it worse and I would not be surprised in the least that unofficially UT liked the idea of running HS games on their network and unofficially signed off on it knowing that the other schools would be pissed about it so that way ESPN could take all the heat.

Either way OU and UT are at the center of this mess. The Big 12 is pretty much done at this point in time.

Face it... any conference not named SEC is irrelevant :D

7-0 in BCS Title Games (Big 12 is 2-5)
Last 5 BCS Champions

I know, I know... none of them are my Dawgs :(

But it is likely LSU is crowned again this year for their 3rd BCS Championship
Unless Alabama wins their 2nd

Very true...starting next year!

Yes, maybe yet another SEC team will get to prove how slow and plodding the Big 10 is. :)

BTW Ignatius, what is going on at TAMU? A Deputy Chancellor for Texas A&M gets fired, then pulls out a pocket knife and says he will surrender his keys only "if anyone is man enough to take them". Talk about taking your firing hard. :)

BTW, good work by those East Dawgs today, MacDawg. They tried to give it away, but still pulled out the win. :D

LOL A&M just blew the game. So much for such a great year.

And yes I was rooting for OSU. I like watching A&M, UT and OU losing.

I hate to say it... but fear LSU
The LSU - Bama game could be for the National Championship

Dawgs get an SEC win finally, but Ole Miss is woeful after being trounced by Vandy last week

Here's my mini-wrapup of this week.

OSU v.s. A&M: I was impressed with A&M until they utterly fell apart. I really thought they were the better team.

LSU v.s. WV: God ****, LSU is good.

FSU v.s. Clemson: A little surprised FSU lost, but with their injuries it's understandable.

OU v.s. Mizzou: I was at this game and I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed for the first 20'ish minutes of play. We were playing so terrible- at least we finally came around started getting our offense together. I hated not having Stills (our 2nd best WR) and the guy who took his place (#16) dropped some pretty important balls.
