Really glad Nebraska lost- they got rolled. Looks like Clemson is going to lose this one big time to a nearly irrelevant NC State.

Congrats to the Dawgs on their title.

Looks like Texas Tech pulled an A&M today. But hey, at least they were in the game this time, right?

A&M up 44-0 at the half on Kansas
This will be an epic second half collapse by the Aggies :p

Three things from A&M's 61-7 win:
  1. If we had blown that lead, or even allowed it to get close at all in the second half, there would have been a riot at Kyle Field. Luckily for Mike Sherman, that didn't happen.
  2. Kansas is the worst major conference team in D-I (yes even worse than Ole Miss)
  3. For the second time in three weeks, A&M might have lost an all-conference caliber RB to season-ending injury when Cyrus Gray left the game shortly before the half with a shoulder injury. Early reports say a bruised shoulder but message board rumors are saying its a broken collarbone. :(

Baylor can thank Bob Stoops for the game- calling a timeout was arguably one of the worst coaching decisions I've ever seen.

Pathetic.

Injuries raped us this game- no Broyles, no Whaley, Ronnell Lewis hurt, Finch hurt for a few plays, Reynolds hurt for a few plays.

Really, really pathetic. Bob Stoops deserves a slap upside the head, especially for thinking about doing a two point conversion on the final OU touchdown.

Looks like the BCS is up for grabs, and it'll be an Alabama v. LSU rematch. #'s 2, 4, 5 all falling in the same week.

Well TTU blows its lead against MU and MU was really the last hope for TTU going to a Bowl game. Just more proof firing Leach was a mistake. Tubby clearly does not know what he is doing. He had a great win against OU.

OU loss to Baylor. That makes sure OU is out of the NC no matter what and it might also prevent OU from getting into a BCS game at all. Kansas State stands a good chance of going to a BCS game at this rate. (Going to take them beating Iowa and then OSU beating OU) And reading threw the play-by-play Stoops really screwed up. Calling a time out when Baylor was just going to let the clock run down was stupid. Instead of going to OT that time out alone cost Cholahoma the game as they ran it down the field and scored.

I am rooting for UT to beat A&M next week. At least send them out of the Big 12 with a loss.

As a Norman North grad, I totally understand the shock and disbelief of what just happened... I'm not sure what Stoops was thinking between the timeout and the two point attempt threat. Both decisions reeked of over-confidence and and cockiness.

...but as a Baylor grad... Sorry man. :D.

And now the top three teams in the BCS will all be from the SEC West. Sometimes I hate that we play in this conference. Ugh. Dan Mullen has been catching some flak for not beating anyone in the SEC West, but playing against the likes of LSU, Bama, and Arkansas makes that a bit difficult.

BCS at-large bid is looking better and better!

Go Cal! ..Heh.. Not a chance they'll win, but the rest of the mayhem might be enough to put us up to #7.

No way do the Bowls overlook us as at-large at #7, right??

I really don't want to see LSU and 'Bama in the Championship Game. No disrespect meant to either of those teams, but that's just boring...

"Big Game" Bob made one of the ballsiest calls of the year when he opted to go for two (Bell would have made it in easily) but got short-circuited by a brain dead false start.

Then, yeah, calling time out and basically forcing one of the most explosive offenses in the nation to go for the win when all they really wanted to do was go to OT...horrible call (especially considering the fact that Brent Venables's defenses can't ever cover the deep ball).

With 2, 4, 5 and 7 all losing, where does that put UH (who stomped a decent SMU team 37-7 today)? And is Boise back in the mix for a BCS game?

How about the SEC West going 1, 2, 3 in the BCS tomorrow? It looks like LSU is pretty much a lock to make it to the championship game now, even if they lose to Arkansas. I just can't see any way they end up lower than #2 in any circumstance short of losing by 30+ (not going to happen).

And how's this for a scenario...

Bama beats Auburn. LSU beats Arkansas. LSU loses to UGA. BCS title game would be Bama-LSU even though neither is a conference champ and UGA would go to the Sugar Bowl. Three BCS bids for the SEC.

Provided Houston wins out, Boise will have to go as an at-large bid. From the BCS rules:

No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year. (Note: a second team may be eligible for at-large eligibility as noted below.) If two or more teams from those conferences satisfy the provisions for an automatic berth, then the team with the highest finish in the final BCS Standings will receive the automatic berth, and the remaining team or teams will be considered for at-large selection if it meets the criteria.

So, they would have to hope the BCS committee selects them. As for the other scenario, I thought no more than two teams from one conference could go, but check out this bit from the at-large eligibility:

No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings.

So, provided neither Bama or LSU dropped below #2 in your scenario, it could happen.

what the hell happened tonight?

The BCS didn't just shatter-

it went up like a mushroom cloud!

anyone who can predict the next standings or be the closest deserves a prize.

nope that still is not going to happen because one of those two schools will be SEC champion and as such complete that requirement.

It would take the BSC champion of the SEC not to be ranked 1 or 2 and we all know that it is not going to happen unless LSU losses in the SEC championship and even then due to the order in ranks SEC still would not have 1 and 2. It would take some pretty huge upsets for that to have any hope of happening.

Bama beats Auburn. LSU beats Arkansas. LSU loses to UGA. BCS title game would be Bama-LSU even though neither is a conference champ and UGA would go to the Sugar Bowl. Three BCS bids for the SEC.[/I]

You have your rankings messed up.

If LSU losses to UGA they would fall a fair amount in the rankings and you know how the rankings work. Just look at LSU win ofr Bama. Close game and Bama still fell in rankings (not by much but still feel). Arkansas looses to LSU will fall at least 1-2 ranks and they would be a 2 loss team so they will fall a fair amount.

The Dawgs have a huge rivalry game with Ga Tech next week before the SEC Championship

Our #2 rushing defense in the nation v. their #2 rushing offense
Always a crazy rivalry game

For the SEC Championship, I honestly think the Dawgs prolly matchup better against LSU than Bama or Arkansas

We can stop the run, but we are more vulnerable to the pass and big plays
Arkansas' offense is scary in that regard and would prolly end up slinging it around on us
They are 10th in the country in passing
I don't like our chances in a shootout in a big game

Bama's defense is the better of the three, and our offense will need some help
I like our defense to match up against Bama's running game and offense
But we would be stuffed ourselves

LSU has given up some points and yards at times (West Virginia and Oregon)
But both Bama and LSU rank 1/2 in Total Defense and 1/2 in points allowed
But LSU ranks 103rd in passing yards themselves and that helps the Dawgs

I think we most likely lose to any of the three, but the more invincible a team feels, the better your chances of an upset
A cocky, undefeated LSU team that is a huge favorite could overlook us
I don't think 'Bama or Arkansas overlook anybody having to fight their way back into it

Face it... any conference not named SEC is irrelevant :D

7-0 in BCS Title Games (Big 12 is 2-5)
Last 5 BCS Champions

I know, I know... none of them are my Dawgs :(

But it is likely LSU is crowned again this year for their 3rd BCS Championship
Unless Alabama wins their 2nd

My post from September 22nd
Looks very likely that LSU will play Bama in the BCS NC now
Which would guarantee a 6th straight SEC BCS Champion

Still a lot of ball to be played

College football > NFL :D

It didn't really shatter at all. Everyone has been saying for weeks that LSU and Alabama are the two bet teams in the nation. They'll be nos. 1 and 2.

nope that still is not going to happen because one of those two schools will be SEC champion and as such complete that requirement.

Under my scenario, UGA would be the champ. They would be the SEC's automatic qualifier. With Bama ranked #1 and LSU #2, they would both be at-large selections into the BCS Championship Game.

If LSU loses a close on to UGA after going undefeated in the regular season and winning all the big games they would have won (Oregon, Alabama, Arkansas), they would not fall farther than #2. There's no way Bama gets in that game and LSU doesn't if they both have only one loss, regardless of how late in the season it came. The only also no way Bama finishes below #2 if they finish with only one loss, no matter what else happens in the rest of the country.

But can you stop the triple option? :D Heck, even GA Southern gave Alabama a little bit of a fit with it yesterday. And as far as those "#2" rankings (UGA rush defense, our #2 rush offense), I'd say those are pretty much meaningless. We haven't played many teams with a decent rush defense to stop us, and you guys (UGA) haven't played any decent rush teams. Of the SEC teams UGA has played, they have an average rank of 66th in rushing yards, S. Carolina and Auburn being the highest at 28 and 32, the rest are below 50th. UGA had the weakest SEC schedule anyone could have this year (all of the East teams, and the 3 weakest West teams). And let's not even talk about "total offense" stats of UGA's opponents...it's not hard to have a "4th ranked total defense" against them.

That being said, I'm positive we wouldn't have the "nation's" 2nd rush offense (I hate "nationally" ranked stats in college football...schedule strengths make it meaningless) if we were in the SEC. But as long as Washington doesn't play like "Reggie Ball II" like he has been known to do at times, I think this week's game will be a good one, regardless of who wins.

Go ahead, pull that slide rule out of your pocket protector and try to calculate a way for Tech to win this one :D

Dawgs rule
Bees drool
:D

Lol. If Washington can pass this week, all we've got to do is run middle slants on y'all. I haven't seen UGA stop that play all year! :D But maybe Washington will actually pitch the ball this week, and we won't have to pass. Even Grantham said after last year's game that he (UGA's DC) has no answer for the triple option. If we can play even a shred of defense (which we can't usually, unless it's Clemson :p ), we have a chance. Maybe it'll come down to a field goal! UGA's only missed...what...10 of those this year?

Bees don't drool. You must've missed that class 'cause you stayed out too late drinking the night before.

Sorry. Continue on gentlemen. :p

Haha! I love it! I'll bet the MacDawg household is a lot of fun this week!
