Is everyone ready for the Las Vegas Bowl??

This is actually very bittersweet. Everyone talks about it being Kellen Moore's last game, but who I'm more upset about is Doug Martin. It's gonna be pretty bizarre without him in the backfield.

I really hope we just kill them tonight.

So, he's the second coming of the Tebow?

I not sure USC will contend for a title, but I've seen Barkley play a couple of times this season, and the guy does deserve to be part of the Heisman discussion. He's one hell of a quarterback.

The SEC finally released the 2012 football schedule today. They claim that this is a one-year deal that will be reevaluated this spring, but for now they're sticking with an eight game conference schedule.

A&M's schedule is not as unruly as what leaked a month or so ago, but it is sort of strange in that we travel to both AL schools and both MS schools. I think my first SEC road trip will be October 6.

Sept. 8: FLORIDA
Sept. 29: vs. Arkansas
Oct. 6: at Ole Miss
Oct. 20: LSU
Oct. 27: at Auburn
Nov. 3: at Mississippi State
Nov. 10: at Alabama
Nov. 24: MISSOURI

It will be interesting to see if that September 29 game stays in Arlington or moves to Kyle Field (based on previous years, A&M is slated to be the home team this year). Judging from the fact that only three conference games are currently scheduled to be at Kyle (and only vs. an SEC West opponent), I'm guessing it will be moving away from Arlington, but who knows.

Also, it kind of sucks for Missouri to have to play at Kyle Field for a third straight year, but I guess having a game in the state of Texas will be good for their recruiting.

Don't go to Oxford. It sucks! :D

It does look like A&M is getting screwed. That is a terrible schedule. Then again, ours isn't much better. The finish sucks:

Oct. 27 at Alabama
Nov. 3 Texas A&M
Nov. 10 at LSU
Nov. 17 Arkansas
Nov. 24 at Ole Miss

Uh huh ;)

Our schedule would have made much more sense if looked like...

Sept. 8: FLORIDA
Sept. 29: at Arkansas
Oct. 6: at Ole Miss
Oct. 20: LSU
Oct. 27: at Alabama
Nov. 3: MISSISSIPPI STATE
Nov. 10: AUBURN
Nov. 24: at Missouri

...but I truly believe this is a one- or two-year deal and everything will change (either because the league goes to 16 or because they switch to a nine-game conference schedule), so they probably went with what caused the least turmoil with everyone else's schedule.

Then again, ours isn't much better. The finish sucks:

Oct. 27 at Alabama
Nov. 3 Texas A&M
Nov. 10 at LSU
Nov. 17 Arkansas
Nov. 24 at Ole Miss

At least you guys have a guaranteed win at the end!

Sets up nicely for the Dawgs
We traded 'Bama for Mizzou
Once again we avoid LSU, Bama and Arkansas

This should be a big year for the Dawgs

GEORGIA
Sept. 8: at Missouri
Sept. 22: VANDERBILT
Sept. 29: TENNESSEE
Oct. 6: at South Carolina
Oct. 20: at Kentucky
Oct. 27: vs. Florida (Jacksonville)
Nov. 3: OLE MISS
Nov. 10: at Auburn

Being a Georgia fan, I am happy with the schedule. I would say the easiest in the SEC. We have a really good chance to run the table next year. But as I said elsewhere, we won't lose more than two games.

The simple fact that you're playing in the SEC East means you have an easy schedule.

As much as I hate 'em, I have to to say that Ole Miss' schedule is really brutal. All four OOC games are up front, leading to 8 straight conference games. And that conference schedule includes road games at Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, and LSU

Of course, you'll have to play LSU (probably) in the SECCG. Wouldn't playing a tougher schedule help you better prepare for that?

I find this kind of funny. In 1998, MSU won the SEC West with an 8-3 record, and we caught all kinds of flak because of a supposed soft schedule. We played Vandy, a 1-10 South Carolina team, and Kentucky from the East and everybody was griping because we played a "soft schedule" and managed to avoid the powers of the day, Florida and Tennessee in the regular season. (We did play Tennessee in the SECG) In 1999, we started 8-0 and got slammed again for playing a soft schedule and once again avoiding Florida and Tennessee. One ESPN commentator even said something to the effect that we were the worst 8-0 team ever. Now, Georgia does essentially the same thing by winning 10 games and their division while avoiding LSU and Alabama in the regular season, and nobody says a word. Interesting stuff.

Anyway, here is something else interesting: The Big 10 and Pac 12 have agreed to long term partnership to have each member play a team from the other conference every year. They are also going to carry it over to other sports, but we don't care about those, right? :)

Is it just me or has this been a really entertaining bowl season so far? Lots of close games, and we're not even into the meat of it yet.

I love this time of year! :D

That Alamo Bowl last night was crazy. 1300 yards total offense, 120+ points? With no OT? Did both defenses spend too much time on the Riverwalk or something? Good grief.

The only bowl I truly care about is tonight. We should be able to handle Wake Forest, but we have blown some games we were supposed to win in the past. It sucks that I have a new job and not enough leave time to go up to Nashville to watch the game.

Has any Heisman-winning QB ever been outplayed so many times in his Heisman-winning season? Griffin is a great player but his winning the trophy is a joke.

Man, did RGIII kick your dog or something? You seem to have a strong dislike for him! :D

I actually agree, though. Price looked like the Heisman winner last night. 7 TDs in one game is mind-boggling. I can't totally blame Griffin for his low stats, though. If the running game with the RBs is working, there is no reason to move away from it.

It's not that I dislike Griffin. I think he's a great player and he seems like a great kid, but he didn't deserve the Heisman. How many other QBs could win the award despite losing three games? Despite two of those games being 4TD+ blowout losses? I can't think of one. Can you?

With Griffin being the focus of the offense, Baylor was down by 18 points. Once they went away from him and started pounding the ball with Ganaway, they erased that deficit and took control of the game. Who's the best/most valuable player in the country again?
